  1. yep... highest I've scored was 3028 kb ..... upload is still @ 324 kb ... at least now I'm gettin what it's supposed to. I'm happy.
  2. Well, it's always refreshing to wake up in the morning and see that your connection speed has increased by half a megabit.... :::.. Download Stats ..::: Connection is:: 3022 Kbps about 3 Mbps (tested with 2992 KB) Download Speed is:: 369 KB/s Tested From:: http://www.testmy.net/ Test Time:: Sat Feb 26 10:46:57 CST 2005 Bottom Line:: 54X faster than 56K 1MB download in 2.78 sec Diagnosis: Awesome! 20% + : 77.56 % faster than the average for host (bellsouth.net) Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/id-T3L2J45BK Previously it was about 2500 Kbps.... From what I hear on DSL reports, Bellsouth has done this because there were complaints about the Xtreme package not getting what it was supposed to. I think this was attributed to the 8 byte overhead on pppoe connections. Either way, I'll take it.
  3. Yep... Been there... done that. Won't happen again for sure.
  4. I like my Netgear... I got this one a year ago for about $150 I think.... http://www.netgear.com/products/details/FVS318.php
  5. The subject says it all... As for myself, at home I'm behind a Netgear ProSafe (FVS318). At the office I'm connected to a Cisco Catalyst 4500 series....I think it's the 4507R. I love my Netgear, it's awesome. All the features and settings you could imagine... It's super flexible. As far as the work setup, I don't know much about that router because I don't have access to the setup. The ISP does all of that. I'd like to get in there and look around, but oh well....
  6. And I thought I was the only one that remembers them days.... I had an Atari 800XL with the 256k (yes K) upgrade and a "Happy" mod on my 5.25" floppy... Times were so much simpler then...
  7. Hmm.. well the obvious is that somehow the test is cached on the second... but usually in that event, the test score is something unbelievable (i.e. - a 25 Mbit score on what is known to be a 5 Mbit connection)..... in your case, I think it's more a matter of coincidence... I've had the opposite happen... where my 1st score kicks arse, but each one after is just a little slower.... But again I attribute that to "margin of error" if you will...it's not consistantly like that.
  8. What I've learned about various MS operating systems comes from lots of "trial by fire" over the years..... Best way to learn to keep your computer running right is to break it... Worked for me.
  9. No my office has a better route by far... My first hop out of the bulding is to a tier-1 backbone...
  10. Sure is nice to be at the top of the top 2 percent...
  11. I've pretty much quit using P2P software in the last year or so... I pretty much have everything I need, but if I need to get something new, I get it from scouring the newsgroups. I went ahead and got an unlimited Giganews account so I just cue up a sh!tload of stuff and let 'er rip... then I just d/load it to my house when I need it. Takes a little patience, but it's sufficient.
  12. I use Maxthon (which seems to be a shell for IE really), and I like it alot. However, when benchmarking... good ol' IE does better than anything else for me....
  13. Well I ran it on my home connection... it basically says I'm getting 93-95% of what my connection is capable of as per UDP testing..... So it looks like I'm pretty much at the top of my game here.... (2.65 Mbps down/ 340 kbs up is what the UDP test said... I got very close to that on one of the servers.) And back to the traceroute... I thought it was cool too.... It's always nice to see that the first hop out of my building is to a tier1 provider's backbone.... w00t!!
  14. I just got my v551 about 2 weeks ago.. I love it. I don't know where any free stuff sites are, but I ordered some accessories pretty cheap through http://www.cellphoneshop.net/?ovchn=INK&ovcpn=sitematch&ovcrn=cellphone&ovtac=PIB .... Cables were way cheap (like $10 instead of $30 from motorola) and I think I paid $30 for the Bluetooh USB adapter for the computer... still haven't had time to sit down and figure out what all it will do yet..
  15. For a minute there I thought I had been de-throned...
  16. I get a "test failed" most of the time due to a timeout. But it's strange... on the tests that lasted a while, it looked like this... TCP: Sandning: 3.78 Mbps Mottagning: 1.84 Mbps UDP: Sandning: 42.80 Mbits Mottagning:
  17. Here's my tests on Van's server with the 20 meg test.... Not bad for half way around the world I guess... lol :::.. Download Stats ..::: Connection is:: 8349 Kbps about 8.3 Mbps (tested with 20972 KB) Download Speed is:: 1019 KB/s Tested From:: http://thegamer.serveftp.com Test Time::
  18. Yeah... I also test higher on other test sites for upload... That being said, I use testmy.net the most for benchmarking my connection. I figure it to be a pretty good representation. When multiple users are connected to my ftp @ work it will supply usually between 6-10 Mbps... depends on time of day, etc... but the lowest I see on a day to day basis is about what testmy.net showes me, so it's somewhere in the ballpark... I'm happy.
  19. That Internet connection is probably the only thing that keeps me from quitting my job... lmao.... isn't that a hell of a note?
  20. I'm sure the days of home connections like that are coming soon.
