  1. You wont notice much difference. Dialup is capped at 48kbps and I usually got around 40 on my dialup, so you'd maybe get like 44 or something with tweaks.
  2. Doing the iprelease thing might help, if you have a static IP. I dont think it will work with dynamic.
  3. From what I can tell; they had an outage of one or more of the routers and they are trying to cover it up. Also, they are rerouting traffic through backup nodes, which is why everyones internet is slow.
  4. Its all good... for you that is this is sad... I dont think its made to say 56/768 lol My guess would be that these stats are for a 128 Kbps/768 Kbps connection.
  5. I know Internet Explorer would do that to me when i was on 56k. I had a host with the Ensim control panel. I download a Backup of my site and it was going at like 300kbps. The file was around 30Mb big. I was like.. holy f*ck, and I did download it.. I notice that happens whenever the file was an "unknown" size. Its pretty cool.
  6. But the good thing is we own on upload! Or is your upload low too? http://www.dslreports.com/forum/cable,rr~days=365 <-- check that out and maybe post something about your area and you getting dialup speeds. It might be just the same as Verizon.

  8. Ouch that sucks But my dialup is slower than yours... This is after a 10 minute outage at Verizon :::.. 9. Even 768/128 people are having slow speeds. What Veriizon says now is a burnt out something at one of the routers lol.
  10. You are pretty close to your cap.

  12. Yea in WinMX there are settings which can limit your upload. I set it to 60kbps when I wanna browse, or turn it off lol. Over 5 hours i uploaded 1.5Gigs... lol
  13. I know with DSL, if I turn on WinMX or something and people download from me at 90kbps then my download seems alot slower (well not download, but browsing)
  14. Yea thanks CA3LE. Love the new forum Merry Christmas to you and everyone else
  15. Hey, I've heard worse. They said my modem was too close to my monitor. And I had too little ram because i need 80% free at all times for dsl to run smoothly, yet their minimum is 128Mb, now imagine using 102.4MB or less at all times to run DSL. Now me, i have 640MB of ram, and when i start "windblows" I use around 300 and I cant really minimize that lol. Such b.s. that im not calling them again to do troubleshooting. They better be installing them radiators tonight since they are scheduled for maintnence at 3AM.
  16. 2004-12-23 18:10:01 EST: 44 / 682 Your download speed : 45415 bps, or 44 kbps. A 5.5 KB/sec transfer rate. Your upload speed is much faster than down.. have you tweaked? Your upload speed : 699382 bps, or 682 kbps. Second day in a row.. yaaayy... Verizon claims its the weather.. it snowed once and it melted in the same day lol. How can wind or melted snow be causing my internet to be slower? What, the telephone line freezes because its colder than 32 degrees? I dont give a f**k, put damn radiators on the telephone poles for all i care. I want my internet back!
  17. :::.. Seems like im further away from the CO only after 6...
  18. Nymostwanted, ive seen you on dslreports in verizon forums alot Back to topic, If you have access to dsl and its cheaper, then i suggest dsl. Wireless will be a drag if you are having problems and your ISP will clain that there is interference between the tower and you. If you can get 1.5/384 dsl for a lower price, go for it.
  19. And here is upload, sorry it took so long to load. :::.. 21. I don't actually have a wireless connection but as i have heard, if you are in a WiFi "hotspot" you can get speeds from 300-500kbps. The service is free though. The closer you are to the actuall server, the faster your speeds, which makes perfect sense.
  22. Its actually Linux . Gotta love linux
  23. Depends on where you live too... In new york you can expect many more people to be on roadrunner than in FL. That might be a reason why you get high speeds. But it shouldnt happen with dsl, if my bandwidth is shared, then why not get cable? Its capped higher and faster.
