  1. Hard Drives.. And a camera. Looks good. ill give that one a try thanks
  2. Well you can't do it in software. And there really isn't much in vista to stop pirates, that DRM they have works great, so does that windows activation On the mac side of things they could do it with hardware. There is a very limited number of hardware configs and they don't change very much outside of harddrive and ram amount. So if they put something in there computers that they make and is unique to each computer then it would be quite hard for anyone to do this because they would have to emulate a specific peace of hardware, hell they have enough trouble emulating the EFI. That is the way all OSes should be. The registry is the worst thing every put into a OS.
  3. Ok so I need a good self powered USB hub for a project that i'm doing. I have been looking around and tried a few, they all suck so far. You wouldn't think it would be so hard to find one but it is I have bought 3 from best buy so far they all said self powered and include a power adapter but end up being bus powered. The idiots at bestbuy think that self powered means the computer powers it And i'm running out of ones to try. I tried this one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817145036 and it was total crap. So does anyone know of a good powered USB hub that they know works with devices that require power like external hard drives.
  4. That is something your ISP does. They will only allow mail to be sent through there mail server when on there network. My ISP does the same thing, but I was able to get around it by using a different port for my SMTP server.
  5. I don't think that is the reason they haven't stopped it yet. I think its because of the lawsuit they have with psystar, and as soon as that is done they will put a stop to all this. You will still be able to use it as long as you don't update to the newest build. And I don't think it would be really hard to put a stop to it. Its easy to tell which one's are fake anyway. I figure they will fix it in snow leopard.
  6. VLC Yes you can. Just don't expect everything to work, there is only a small amount of drivers for few hardware items. I tried it on my windows notebook and it works but I didn't have wifi, ethernet, or sound, and video only works if you have a card that is currently used. And don't do updates because one day they are going to put a stop to it.
  7. with just browsing and light downloading 5GB a month will be plenty.
  8. Only go with a N router if both or one of the laptops have a N card in them, otherwise its a waste because you would have to buy cards to take advantage of N.
  9. Oh really. Mind telling everyone else what will be on blackfriday?
  10. I would wait till blackfriday and see what you can get.
  11. Porn... jk... I use it for 3D modeling and rendering for our theaters. It is also the machine I use to make things to be cut on our CNC. Its not fast enough tho, I really need something with 12 or 16 cores. I can only do 3 windows VM's rendering while doing 1 other thing at the same time in OS X.
  12. Got a question why are you trying to show the softlayer bandwidth graphs? If there is a issue with your server at softlayer give them a call.
  13. Yep dual 3.2 GHz Xeon Harpertown's, I also have 24mb of cache between the 2 of them. And for most of the day all 8 cores are working.
  14. LOL. You have no idea how many times a day I hear that. I hate when people think that you add up the GHZ of your cores to get the real GHZ #. I was in best buy once and a guy was telling some couple that "this computer has a dual core 3GHz processor, so its really 6Ghz" Shit if your running a 12Ghz system then I guess I beat you with my 25.6 GHz system.
  15. I didn't get it. Someone stuck it there, and I can't seem to get them to go away
  16. Simple quick answer, as far I know there is nothing that will do it for you. The fastest thing would be to run the script from the terminal. What are you trying to install?
  17. You can only use Match cards in SLI. And its usually best to get the same manufacture and version of the card.
  18. Aslong as linux stays the way it functions that will never happen. It's a speciality OS thats not ment to be easy.
  19. I'm thinking linux because i'm trying to tell them how to do something in linux. Its not windows you can't do things like you do on windows. People are so fucking stupid and stuck in there little windows world and think that you can do everything same way you do on windows. Thats not the way it works. I am not going to dumbdown anything that I am telling them, because if we start doing that then we are just fucking windows. If someone comes to me and asks me how to update the OS i'm not going to tell them click here, then click thier, open the terminal and type yum update. No, i'm going to tell them open the terminal and run yum update. I'm not going to hold someones hand through the process, they are choosing to use a OS that is not as frendly to use as windows they need to open there fucking head, use that brain they have in there and learn that google is there friend. Almost anything you want to do you can find out how on google. And they will even tell you the exact commands to run to do what ever you want to do. Fort example if you wanted to make it into a LAMP server there are guides around that will tell you ervery single command to run to install everything you need. All you have to do is copy and paste. If we start holding peoples hands through every process then we are going to be windows.
  20. Yea. I run CentOS on all my servers for my sites and I switched our servers at my office from ubuntu to centos, and now everything is running so much better. I have 138 days of uptime or more on all of my servers and I was never able to get even close with RHEL or Debian.
  21. You know you say that, but yet your the one asking the questions, so they are not a compleate clueless dumb ass. What they tell you is the way to do it, not everything in linux is point and click, the correct way to do things is in a command line. I probably get 15 - 20 questions a week from people asking how to do something on linux and most don't like the responce because they have no clue what I said and I'm now at the point if you don't know it, don't use it.
  22. That is never going to happen. Linux isn't ment for people who are not techincal. I don't think we will ever see the day where it is as easy as OS X or windows to install software on it. Even for people who know what they are doing linix is still a pain in the ass to do things. But it is the best server OS around and that's where it should stay.
  23. CentOS is my fav. Suse is also good.
  24. ebay. You need to get one for your exact model. And good luck finding it. They are all going to be around that price. The LCD is the most expensive part of the notebook. You may be better off finding a notebook that is broken and buy the whole thing rather then just buying the LCD alone.
