Because Internet Explorer is the worst browser you can get, and it is a nightmare to code for, thats the reason why we have Firefox and other browsers. Microsoft does not use web standards like Firefox or Safari does, so if you make something the correct way it doesn't work, you have to make it the "Microsoft way" and since the "Microsoft way" doesn't work in any other browser you have to make things more then once. The best part about IE is, in ver. 8 they decided to use web standards some what so things that were made the incorrect way so they would work in IE 6 & 7 now don't work in IE 8. Thats why I, and many others don't use IE.

I need everyone single one so I can test and make sure the stuff I make works just fine in all browsers. if I didn't then nothing I make would work in IE

One really nice thing about this connection I noticed is, unlike traditional DSL, cable, or even FIOS when uploading at max speed the download doesn't get slowed down a hole lot. When I had my Bellsouth 6 mbps connection, and my Cable connection before that every time I or someone would upload at max speed the download would just drop through the floor to about the upload speed as was normal. But with U-Verse since there is so much extra bandwidth that is provisioned for the house (25 mbps down/2 mbps up) I can upload a file at full speed and still get over 10 mbps download no problem.

Its not fiber. It comes in over your regular phone line and uses VDSL. There is Fiber to the node which most were before.

Closest back to back / Most consistent speed

I'm guessing your on u-verse. if so not bad at all. -
So I moved into a new place over the past few days and I was able to get AT&T U-Verse it finally came into my area with there 18 Mbps down and 1.5 Mbps up. So far with no tweaking being done it performs really well. :::.. Download Stats ..::: Download Connection is:: 16865 Kbps about 16.9 Mbps (tested with 76793 kB) Download Speed is:: 2059 kB/s Tested From:: https://testmy.net/ (Main) Test Time:: 2008/12/30 - 3:13pm Bottom Line:: 294X faster than 56K 1MB Download in 0.5 sec Tested from a 76793 kB file and took 37.302 seconds to complete Download Diagnosis:: Awesome! 20% + : 464.42 % faster than the average for host (sbcglobal.net) D-Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-20EXGU35J User Agent:: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10_5_6; en-us) AppleWebKit/525.27.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.2.1 Safari/525.27.1 [!] :::.. Upload Stats ..::: Upload Connection is:: 1412 Kbps about 1.4 Mbps (tested with 2992 kB) Upload Speed is:: 172 kB/s Tested From:: https://testmy.net/ (Main) Test Time:: 2008/12/30 - 3:53pm Bottom Line:: 25X faster than 56K 1MB Upload in 5.95 sec Tested from a 2992 kB file and took 17.356 seconds to complete Upload Diagnosis:: Awesome! 20% + : 249.5 % faster than the average for host (sbcglobal.net) U-Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-S7JHZDF3V User Agent:: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10_5_6; en-us) AppleWebKit/525.27.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.2.1 Safari/525.27.1 [!] For some reason its hard for me to break 17 mbps here but when pulling from my server and a few others I get about 17.5 - 17.8 Mbps. When the tech was installing and doing some line tests he told me that the line has a rate of 52 mbps inside the house which was the fastest he had seen so far. Currently the modem syncs at 25 mbps, that is for my 18 Mbps internet and 2 TV's. If I turn both TV's on at the same time with 2 HD streams it runs at about 14 Mbps. The install is kind of a pain in the ass it takes about 4 hrs. I was helping the guy out so that made it go a little faster. If anyone has the chance to get U-Verse I would definitely go with it over Cable or Sat. Outside of the internet speed being a little slower I would put it on par with FIOS TV.

First off it all depends on what you do for majority of people 3gb of ram isn't really needed. Most would be more then fine with 2GB right now. Also weather you have a dual or quad core processor doesn't really make 4GB of ram really kick in. It only mattes of what you are doing. DDR3 does make a difference, if you have a hard drive that is fast enough to serve data too the ram. And having 8GB vs 4GB doesn't make DDR3 better it depends on what you do.
-
Adding more ram doesn't make your internet connection any faster unless you have a ungodly small amount of ram. The ethernet controller is slower then what the ram can read and write at. The only thing that would be faster with a 128gb of ram outside of government sized databases would be working with massive photoshop files even then your pushing the insanely wasted side of things with 128gb of ram. Maybe in 10 years something will actually take advantage of it. If your going core i7 you might as well spring for 6gb of ram because if you really want to use the processor you want a lot of ram.

Jack Ass!!! jk The iMac really is an amazing computer. The screen is incredible, I have yet to see another computer with a better screen. I went from a old 2 Ghz white iMac to one of the new 24" 2.8GHz iMac's and its significantly faster, and the 45nm processor is so much cooler. No more 50c idle temp.

Two ISP in one PC working as Load balancing? is it possible?
dlewis23 replied to aki21's topic in Networking and Hardware
Not going to happen. Both ISP's would have to support bonding. And even if it did, it wouldn't across different ISP's. Also a dual wan router does not allow you to do this. All a dual wan router does is allow you to load balance things like you could download or upload a large file on one connection and surf the web on another with out any slow down when browsing pages. -
How long did you play with it for? My boss got one yesterday and he liked it for about the fist hour and now he hates it. He can't type for shit on it. The only reason he got it was because the exchange support for windows/exchange 2000. He doesn't way to go to 03 (Don't know why) and the iPhone requires 03 to higher to work so he went with this and now i'm hearing about it. lol But I think you have to have the premium plan with the storm, or there is one specifically for the blackberry on verizon that is the same as the premium with unlimited data.

Country boys may have invented it, but city boys perfected it. I have never ever had a good cooked steak outside of the city. Ive been all over this country and never had a good steak in the country. They are always too tough, or are low quality meat.

If you look past the 23hrs a day he watches porn then it is never.

Fuck up a steak. HAHA. Your talking to the master of steak, you country boys always fuck up a steak Cooking it till its medium, or so tough you need a damn chop saw to get through it. If you want a touch screen phones there are only 2 good ones. T-mobile G1 and the iPhone. The G1 is very good, but not really close to what the iphone offers. There are things that either phone will not do. But what they do, do they do very well, especially when considering the iPhone.

Trust me I know. I believe I even saw you watching it on your xbox one night.

The windows 7 pre beta is a build from September. And it doesn't have the "new" stuff (link there half assed dock) on. So thats why it doesn't seem different. The official beta should have everything on. If you do some searching around you can find out how to turn the new task bar on.
