  1. try installing it in safe mode.
  2. i know exactly what connector your talking about, dell use it for a few years on some computers, it was a very stupid thing to do.
  3. first backup your stuff. then to a restore and if it works then your good. if it still doesn't work format and start over. one thing you might want to try before you do any of that is a alliterative email client like thunderbird.
  4. nice. but that pppoe crap sucks.
  5. care for hardware configs. i haven't had any device that i was unable to get a driver for except a TV turner but that was because most TV turners dont work with Linux. if anything Linux is the easiest OS for hardware configs especially old hardware.
  6. famously_infamous try doing a speed test from server 2 http://www.testmy.net/o-000-2 and post your results. also have you tried any tweaking if not go here http://www.testmy.net/forum/t-11975 there are 2 programs you can try the first is TCP optimazer, the second is cable nut. i recommend cablenut bit if you want to try something very easy use TCP optimazer. also have you done spyware and virus scans?
  7. people actually perfer OSX over XP because its far better. and if you could run OSX on a PC there would be no windows. and there would be many less viruses because the OS is actually written correctly and not coped and pasted togeather from 10 older versions.
  8. most likely its not a RT, its probally just a switch for the phone lines in your neighborhood.
  9. try this type net stop "TrueVector Internet Monitor" in to the run command
  10. from what i remember at&t only blocks 25.
  11. nice speed van. have you ever found a website that can max your speed on a download, other then a speed test site?
  12. scrubby thats a very nice speed. do you know what your advertised download speed is? edit: looks like your on the 8mbps plan and that is a very good result for that, and you have been getting very consistant results your last few tests. doesnt looks like you need to do much if anything to that connection.
  13. don't worry about it saying your line is covad, im on bellsouth and it says the same thing for me. and don't worry about it saying your 14445 feet away, that just means that your on a RT (Remote termanal) you are probally with in 4000 feet from one. so you will be able to get great download speeds from the elite package.
  14. this tool here will give you a rough estimate. http://www.dslreports.com/prequal/distance
  15. most people see speeds anywere from 5.5 - 5.8mbps. and about 550 upload. but it all depends how far you are from the CO or RT. thats why they say 3.0-6.0.
  16. thats a nice thing to say....
  17. that will be nice when you get that, im going to have to wait till at least november to get something close to it.
  18. nice. thats a very good thing, and kinda a needed one with the way connections are becoming.
  19. no the test is not going to run if your computer is off. it has to have it on to run that scan.
  20. hell i would be surprised as well, physics always taught us that something that light can't hit with that much force.
  21. from what i herd on TV the crew is fine with it. no matter what you do space travel is always going to be dangerous.
  22. here you go ryan any of these 2 are real good. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16822154041 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16822154077
  23. that PSU will work with no problem. Dell uses standard power supplys so any standard ATX powersupply will work.
  24. if you just copy and past the link in it wont show your average speed it will show my average speed you need to just copy the information like i did. EDIT: 3000 Posts yeah!
