all the schools that ive gone to have had a bellsouth SDSL. in my High School, i was the network admin for all 3500 computers, we had a 768kB/s sdsl line and each computer got about 20-30kB/s on download so it wasn't that bad for just looking up sh*t. But hay i was also running a server off that connection at the same time.

I don't know about alot of you but i miss call for help and the screensavers back when techtv was techtv so i have been looking around and I just created this really cool site for downloading the new call for help from G4techtv canada. http://downloads4u.net it uses bittorrent to distribute the episodes, they download really fast.

what is your advertised speeds?

most dsl isp's can make the upgrade start instantly, because they can control there dslam. same with cable. But there are still some that wait a few hours or even days to make the effect. But for you its been a long time, that upgrade should have already taken effect. what kinda modem do you have?

me i was on adelphia and i had to switch because I moved and adelphia does not service the area that i live in.

here's the kicker bellsouths 6mb plan will be 6mbps down and 512kbps up for $46.95. but for only $3 more then the 3mb/384kb plan what more can you ask for. + you get a static ip, and you are allowed to run a web server.

Just got off the phone with the sales department at bellsouth and was told that the new upgraded to 6.0mbps should be available round the 15th of september. They wont tell me the price of that plan yet, she also told me that the upload speeds will be between 512kbps and 768kbps, but there is now final world. will post more when i get more info.

for DSL it usilly takes a minimum of 72hrs for a change like that to take effect. They actually have to send some one out, to the head-in box at the corrner of your street.

ya ghostmaster Tomshardware.com.com did a benchmark with the intel pentium M 2.12GHz a AMD64 4800+ and the intel P4 EE 3.73GHz and the pentium M won in all test. They played quake 3 at 640x480. The pentium M was faster by 5-12% then both the intel and AMD. I use a pentium M 2GHz at work and that processor renders video very fast. I have had INTEL and AMD, in both desktops and notebooks. AMD's are good, nice and fast. The intels that i have had are faster and more reliable then the AMD's ive had. Also if you break a intel for what ever reason they will ship you a new one, no questions asked. AMD you have to go through this hole 30 question process. AMD notebook processors suck. If you pare a intel with a good MB like a asus with Nforce4 chipsitel. Your going to have 1 fast machine. My next desktop is going to be a intel pentium 2.12GHz fastest processor on the market.

First try tcp optimazer, usialy that will get really close to your advertised speeds. When you do that post a speed test.
