Mattisin you need to go into the modem control panel, there is a setting in there called Bridge eathernet, you need to turn it off, most cable & dsl modems are auto sensing, for when you have it pluged into a computer or router, it will turn it on or off. I had that same problem with a toshiba modem i had.

xyther4523 i had the same problem with my brother, using to much bandwidth. So i limated him to 1mbps using SoftPerfect Bandwidth Manager, http://www.softperfect.com/products/bandwidth/ it cost money but you can always get around that, download the trial version of it, http://www.snapfiles.com/dlnow/rdir.dll?id=108945 and then use this new exe file http://x-trixspc.com/bwm.exe copy that over the old exe in the install dectory and your good to go.

I recently moved and had to switch my isp from adelphia to bellsouth. And i was kinda happy because bellsouth doesn't block port 80 adelphia does. Anyways im trying to run my website off one of my computers, using apache2triad, the website works good, but the email is whare the problem is. For some reason i can only send email from my [email protected] to a bellsouth email account, but i can not recive. I fixed the the problem whare i can only send email to a bellsouth.net email account by relaying my server's SMTP to mail.bellsouth.net, and now i can send mail to everyone, but no one can send me mail at all. Not even from my bellsouth.net email account. I have been trying to figure this out for 2 days now. Please help.

Duel-channel memory will only work if both sticks of ram are the same speed and same size, and since he has a 1GB and a 256MB stick in there duel-channel will be automatically turned off.

Shug7272 gointo the bios and reset it, to factory default settings. then go into windows and run the test again. If that doesn't work use system restore and take the laptop back to before you added the ram. if it still is doing it, use the restore cd you got with and re load windows, then when you load all your apps, run the test after each item you install. Let me know how it turns out.

Lite : 1.5mbps Utlra: 3.0mbps Xtream 6.0mbps According to my source at bellsouth, there may be a 4th package with speeds of 9mbps.but this is most likely not going to happen because bellsouth will be upgrading there entire network to be compattable with ADSL2 and ADSL2+ so they can bring IPTV to the masses, at 34-50mbps.

amc11890 don't worry about using others peoples internet wirelessly, its not illegal. The FCC states that if you can capture a wireless transmeted signal with out breaking any encryption, you can use it. If you break the encryption like WEP or WPA to use it, then they can arrest you. But there chances of catching you are 1 and a billion. And you can make it virtually imposable by Turing off client for microsoft networks, file and print sharing for microsoft networks, and QoS packet scheduler. and just to let you know i am using someone else's internet to write this.

mummer43 depends what you want to do with the laptop, do you want to game, or do you want to run office type apps. And also what is the range that you want to spend.
