SMART BRO!? HOW can i increase my download speed?
mudmanc4 replied to lookingfree's topic in Make it Faster...
Not being a smartbro customer, or ever having been, I do have a basic understanding of the system, and simply changing the software will not increase the bandwidth, this is allocated through the ISP ie: smartbro. It may however increase stability, and overall performance. 512 seems to be the average SB download speed, if your achieving this, then your doing pretty good comparatively. -
How are you installing the driver ?
-
No see, the MBR was corrupted during the CMOS reset, so the system posts, but wont boot, because the system doesn't see the Boot records, so I have to boot the machine from the installation disk, and run everything from there. See what I mean now ? You can run a shell, and perform normal functions, mostly, as if you were running a CMD. But I need to know how to gain admin privileges this way in order to straighten this out.
-
I still haven't found out how to , from the installation disk, obtain administrator privileges in a command prompt , so this topic is open for discussion.

Thanks Coknuck, I remember that. I did however find something new to me, it's called "bootrec.exe " , within the Vista Recovery Console , I'm sure this will solve many problems. As it has for myself.

You can use the Bootrec.exe tool in the Windows Recovery Environment (Windows RE) to troubleshoot and repair the following items in Windows Vista: A master boot record (MBR) A boot sector A Boot Configuration Data (BCD) store Note When you are troubleshooting startup issues by using the Windows RE, you should first try the Startup Repair option in the System Recovery Options dialog box. If the Startup Repair option does not resolve the issue, or if you must troubleshoot more steps manually, use the Bootrec.exe tool. To run the Bootrec.exe tool, you must start Windows RE. To do this, follow these steps: Put the Windows Vista installation disc in the disc drive, and then start the computer. Press a key when you are prompted. Select a language, a time, a currency, a keyboard or an input method, and then click Next. Click Repair your computer. Click the operating system that you want to repair, and then click Next. In the System Recovery Options dialog box, click Command Prompt. Type Bootrec.exe, and then press ENTER. Note To start the computer from the Windows Vista DVD, the computer must be configured to start from the DVD drive. For more information about how to configure the computer to start from the DVD drive, see the documentation that is included with the computer or contact the computer manufacturer. Bootrec.exe options The Bootrec.exe tool supports the following options. Use the option that is appropriate for your situation. Note If rebuilding the BCD does not resolve the startup issue, you can export and delete the BCD, and then run this option again. By doing this, you make sure that the BCD is completely rebuilt. To do this, type the following commands at the Windows RE command prompt: bcdedit /export C:BCD_Backup c: cd boot attrib bcd -s -h -r ren c:bootbcd bcd.old bootrec /RebuildBcd /FixMbr The /FixMbr option writes a Windows Vista-compatible MBR to the system partition. This option does not overwrite the existing partition table. Use this option when you must resolve MBR corruption issues, or when you have to remove non-standard code from the MBR. /FixBoot The /FixBoot option writes a new boot sector to the system partition by using a boot sector that is compatible with Windows Vista. Use this option if one of the following conditions is true: The boot sector has been replaced with a non-standard Windows Vista boot sector. The boot sector is damaged. An earlier Windows operating system has been installed after Windows Vista was installed. In this scenario, the computer starts by using Windows NT Loader (NTLDR) instead of Windows Boot Manager (Bootmgr.exe). /ScanOs The /ScanOs option scans all disks for installations that are compatible with Windows Vista. Additionally, this option displays the entries that are currently not in the BCD store. Use this option when there are Windows Vista installations that the Boot Manager menu does not list. /RebuildBcd The /RebuildBcd option scans all disks for installations that are compatible with Windows Vista. Additionally, this option lets you select the installations that you want to add to the BCD store. Use this option when you must completely rebuild the BCD. Ok vista geeks, I made an elementary mistake by losing the CMOS password on a business machine of my own, can't believe it, because I have used the same damn PW for that machine for years, It may have been compromised, I haven't gotten that far yet. I was able to rest the password on the MB by resetting the BIOs to factory defaults. Of course, when doing this, there is always other complications, this time, I believe, the MBR has been corrupted, or simply lost. Ok, no problem, just run "sfc /scannow" , but in vista, you need to elevate to admin to accomplish this , so the question is, I'm in a shell started from the Vista Ultimate disk, how do I get admin privileges here ?

For the benefit of any skeptic or reader who has been brainwashed into believing that this conspiracy does not exist today, let us look into a warning from Winston Churchill when he wrote on February 8, 1920:

Revolutionary War, Civil War Instigated by Rothshild -- Illuminati This Awareness indicates that when this nation was founded, prior to the Declaration of Independence, (this as a colony of England), there were many entities who arrived in this continent with hopes of beginning a new life. This Awareness indicates that many of these entities were fleeing Europe from debts or from crimes, that many of these entities were considered criminal. This Awareness indicates that the entity Benjamin Franklin, in moving to England for a visit, remarked that the colonies were profiting because they only minted as much money as they needed, and because they minted their own money. This Awareness indicates that an entity working with the Rothschild's overheard this remark, and conveyed the message to the Rothschild's. This Awareness indicates that these entities then directed King George not to allow any colonies to mint their own money, that all colonies to mint their own money, that all colonies were to use the British script. This Awareness indicates that this led to the Revolutionary War. This Awareness indicates the country of England had been taken over through its indebtedness due to the war with Spain--the indebtedness being to the Rothschild banking system, which was in collaboration with the Illuminati. This Awareness indicates that this has remained so since that time. This Awareness indicates that there were certain elements relating to the entity Madison and also to Thomas Jefferson, that these entities and La Fayette and George Washington and Benjamin Franklin -- these entities in particular were aware of the banking controls and the manipulation of nations. This awareness indicates that for this reason, the Constitution, in attempting to guarantee freedoms for individuals, was put together with three branches--the executive, legislative and judicial branch--in order to divide the power among these three branches. This Awareness indicates these entities should have also created a financial branch, which was also controlled by the people, but failed to do so; rather, they had the Constitution so written that Congress would control the money. This Awareness indicates that Congress not only had the right to mint and coin money but also have the right to legislate and make laws--this allowed Congress to be manipulated at a future time into giving away or voting away its right to mind and coin money, and by turning this over to the Federal Reserve Bank. This Awareness indicates that it has been given previously (revelations of Awareness No. 77-28 The Lincoln Conspiracy), that the entity Abraham Lincoln was faced with a need to finance his troops for the Civil War. This Awareness indicates the Civil war itself was staged and set up by the Illuminati, whereby they brought the slaves from Africa to the Southern plantations in order to create an atmosphere that would lead to an issue which could be used for setting up a war which would divide the nation. This Awareness indicates that the newspapers, being controlled by these entities, began to build up the background and the attitude among the northerners to set the stage for Civil War. This Awareness indicates that the entity Abraham Lincoln, attempting to finance his troops, sought money from the banks and was told that it would cost 26% interest. This Awareness indicates that this entity then turned to the Constitution and printed the "Lincoln greenbacks" which were used for financing his armies.

SMARTBRO PLAN 999.. Please POst Your Fastest Speed Here ^^
mudmanc4 replied to megabytez's topic in Show off your speed
Seems the test is incorrectly detecting your network situation. Otherwise it would show in the network connections field. Just to clarify something, when you hear the term " root" that is the "root " directory, or "%Systemroot%" , usually where windows is installed. You might recognize it as " C:windows " . Have you downloaded cablenut , and looked for the corresponding registry file for your bandwidth allocation ? This will "tweak " your connection, to give you optimum input output. Follow the vista tweak, and how you should install cablenut on a vista machine. -

No. The device manager is showing you what " devices " or components are in the machine. -

SMARTBRO PLAN 999.. Please POst Your Fastest Speed Here ^^

I was going by what you said "different in root " I know the administrator account as root, so this on a windows machine would be administrator, I was going under the assumption that the network was somehow set up in a different profile on an admin account on your machine. -
Yea, good one man, funny, but we were sitting out front suckin up the 85 degree weather today and noticed ours is fallen to the same, so tomorrow I'll take it to the VFW and they'll know what to do w/ it. ( in between a draught and a cigar lol ) I'll find me another one.

Maybe some other time, I do this in public because there's so many people that have the same exact issue as you are, so think of this as your helping others as we learn Ok then, that's the issue, the driver has no idea where to go by itself, we have to put it in the right place since it has no installation package with it. So, as long as it's unzipped, goto the network device, in device manager so long as your there, you'll see properties, then look for "driver" , when you click that tab, you should see where it says "update driver " . then instead of having it look for the driver on it's own, you should know where you unzipped it, right ? Then point to it and it should install. You'll then be told you need to restart the system.
-
Tell me how you installed the driver. Did it have an installation package, or did you put the driver in yourself. There's several ways to get it where it needs to be in the stack, you could also go into device manager, find the triangle w/ the exclamation point, on the network device, and install it there. In fact goto control panel, administrator, then system, then look for device manager, unless you know another way to get there, there's several ways. And tell me where the marks are in there.

Alright, here's the driver for the ethernet card. Burn it to whatever media you have , and install it on your machine. You should be good to go after a bit of configuring. Here's the link >>>http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/genericSoftwareDownloadIndex?lc=en&cc=us&softwareitem=pv203en

Hang on, looking for the driver, if I find it, then you download it and install it.
-
So you need the network card driver for that laptop ?

yea but people always want more, so I'm sure your used to your connection, and you find it just fine, maybe things get a bit laggy from time to time, but thats plenty for general surfing and shit right ? -
Yes I plan to, actually, if i care to keep the machine alive, unfortunately, I see no other option. But you know what ? I'm gonna have a load of fun digging into this puppy It's a well know fact they had issues (Apple ) w/ this, so this week will be the week Iv'e been waiting for. All i have to do is throw another machine together so I can still stay in my office, and connect to the outside world while this thing is in pieces.
-
Glad to see your still involved in the project. Myself I have to wait until they release another client, the last mac/intel proc client ran very hot, sure I was turning in plenty of data, as I use the console w/ flags such as "-local verbosity -9 , and I save WU's at the rate of 3 minutes. Using the verbosity flag will send completed WU's on a regular basis to in fact prevent data loss due to some of the things you posted. The 3 minute save helps tremendously w/ this as well. But like I said, my proc temp was closing in on 220℉ , not good at all. After investigating into this in terms of the thermal grease, I found out that Apple had yet another flaw in such an essential area, too much thermal grease will allow temps to rise well past the die recommendations, and we all know what that leads to. So here in the next week, I'll be tearing my macbook pro to pieces to "re grease " the proc Off topic a bit I know, but I'll be documenting the process with pics instructions as I go. I'm sure this will help many that decide to undertake this. I'm actually looking forward to getting into the gutz of a $2700 macbook pro.

Yea, thats what I do. Just keep looking for answers, and educate yourself on just how all this works, I think you'll be surprised as to what you can achieve when equipped with the right information in order to make changes ti your system based on how , and why it works like it does.
