The links that ryan gave you are a great place to start , once you get accustomed to loking at windows this way, by then you'll be needing more commands, here's a great list, and some damn good info to go w/ each one, remembering that using a shell like this can and will make changes to your system, some will work , some wont. Maybe you'll post your progress, as you go, I will follow this thread myself, and I'm sure many others will as well. Were always looking for new ways to do "things" to our systems , so when you find a good way of doing something , can you post it for us ?

You really shouldn't eat popcorn off the forum floor after gorman and pixie were in there playin chase me tickle me all night ? :haha:
-
Can you post what you want to do, or re you just in general looking for some of the commands. I know some people like use it for all kinds of system operations, so i was just curious what your intentions were.

Welcome to testmy.net KettleFish , there's quite a bit of info in here, leave a popcorn trail

Just for the record, on a mac, the touchpad is an extremely integral part of the system, especially the new glass ones. Either way, so you don't say stupid things that you don't know about just to sound like you know what your talking about anymore ( directed to no one) , to right click on a mac, place two fingers on the trackpad ( a natural position lol) and touch the button, wammo, right click options, only way cooler then windows There's so many gestures on the trackpad , it's a wonder in technology in itself.

Your always going to have people that talk S#!t, because that's all they know. For the "false sense of security " notice he didn't back the statement up. Everyone knows, whether there a windows person, or a mac person, that unix, and unix like ( for those out there ) operating systems are much more stable, and nearly impossible to crack into if configured properly. There not set up in any way like windows is. The only people that will give a bad review are those that honestly, couldn't grasp the concept of the GUI, and or those that didn't take the time to. And of course those that hear all the complaining of those comments I just made, and follow them because they want people to think they know something. There's no doubt at all that there is a learning curve, no doubt, Not unlike anything else in this world though is it. Remember the first time you put your hands on your windows machine ? well ? Well ? Yes, it's that much different. Im also saying the hardware makes all the difference as well, click on something, BAM, it's there, there's no registry to hold things up. You don't have to defragment, although you can, and I suppose it helps, but it's a third party piece of software. ok, I'm done. Oh wait , as to the "archaic" key presses, uhhm, those are called shortcuts for those of us that chose to keep our hands on the keyboard, you can do virtually anything by shortcut, and in a split second, I discover them all the time, but there are so many, some fall out of my memory I can honestly say , I have forgotten more shortcuts that are built in the mac os, then I think windows even has. I have a hard time commenting on when people say there's no right click button, it proves so many things I just said. How long do you think that person has used a mac? To make that statement, I would say less then a minute.

Uninstall the hardware in device manager , and then restart, you'll be prompted that the system has found new hardware, install it.

You know, what you could do for now , until you egt hold of a good copy of windows, is go ahead and install one of the totally free versions of Linux, I think you'll find that you can learn a whole heck of a lot, maybe not what you e=wnt to do, but it will get your system up , no ? here, check out this link , it's the Wiki of zillions of Linux distro's, there has to be something in there that appeals to you. Maybe you can goto a freinds to D/L, or even goto the library, pretty sure they have disks there.

I'm hearing the same thing all over, but what people fail to realise, is generally, there's a little box somewhere before the download, as there blitzing through the eula's and installation directories, that you can tick one way or nother to install or not. Like the google toolbar thing, man, I can't tell you how many times I have to un install this tripe, people just don't pay attention to what is on the screen, and people like you are saying are taking advantage of that fact.

question on USB MODEM broadband connection

:haha: I hear that too, hopefully things got straightened out. Funny you should be talking like this about google, my discussion with my 9 year old last night consisted of nothing but google , wiki, and the use of them. We have this "thing" I'll ask a question, and he's to run of and google it, and give me a legitimate answer, he's getting very good at it. As you know , since you use google so much , as we do, then the use of key words ar emuch more effective then just typing questions. He's gotten rather fast as hell at it too . -
Be careful what you say , this is a public forum, and this site does not condone the use of illegal software. Nor do we discuss anything to do with trying to activate any software obtained in this fashion. (just a disclaimer ) none the less. True that. edit

Maybe I'm misunderstanding something, but shockwave has been around for at least 15 years, one of the first, if not the first, and this is the first time Iv'e ever heard it in a phrase compared to a virus, or malware of any kind.

What started all of this ?
-
ok then maybe the network is disabled in msconfig, you should now go into msconfig, and set everything to normal boot, have you done that yet ?
-
right, becuse your in safe mode, you should be able to change the boot mode to normal, and log into your standard account.
-
Im trying to find how to get into msconfig in safe mode, maybe php will see this, he'll prolly know ........ Can you not just get to a command prompt ?

Just get an apple man, you cant beat it, I know here we go with the apple bashing, but I'm not listening this time. Look , they have Intel chips on them, you can still run your pretty little windows OS ( sorry for the asinine talk, I run vista on a VM on mine lol ) so there a few bucks more, but look at it this way, you'll be much more productive if not only for the simple item called " stability " . You can get a bad ass laptop for a grand, and let me say this, all these dozens of companies that buy parts and jam them into a whitebook and slap a color, and a catchy name on them are doing nothing more then trying to get your dollar, when apple on the other hand, does so much engineering to have certain parts manufactured specifically for each other. Ah well, I'll stop now , no sense in continuing anyhow. Good luck.

Most the time we all need that to render certain things on many websites, was it corrupted or something ?
-
For some reason your config has changed startup value. Type start, run, cmd, then "msconfig " , and change setting back to defaults. Restart.
