  1. Well at least you are buying a new one at a great time, when you have a new power supply Sorry man, I'm just that way, look on the bright side, right ? I just can;t think of anything else other than that little power plug thing I mentioned.
  2. I don't think that there was a power surge, I really think that something touched the inside of the case, or something, when you put the other, not the new, PS in, and shorted the motherboard out.
  3. Be careful on the carpet w/ any electronic parts, static will kill them instantly.
  4. I wouldn't go pulling the CPU unless I knew I had a compatible board, and thermal grease, and you have ruled everything else out. I would say no, not the CPU because your not showing the bios. The problem is before the CPU comes into play. It doesn't POST, then it's a system board, memory, power issue. I'm sure there's others that it could be but you get the idea. So starting at the beginning, it was running, then lights flickered, and nothing else, right ?
  5. Tried different memory yet ? Usually the first thing to go after a extra bolt of juice lol
  6. That may be a good one, work correctly and all, it's just my preference to not like symantec or anything involved with them, or norton, or anything associated . Plus my idea of uninstalling something you don't want, or need, does not involve installing something else specific to the issue. But It's just my opinions, doesn't have to be anyone else's.
  7. How exactly are you resetting the bios, because we don't know for certain that we are, since we can't see it. I know you know what your doing, but have you done the jumper thing, because you should in my opinion , pull the battery for a couple minutes as well. If you havent already, I mean for at least 3 or 5 minutes to be sure, although a couple seconds should work, I wouldn't be absolutely positive since I can't see it.
  8. Good idea. You posted that the machine worked fine w/ another PS in it, so whats different since then ?
  9. Download spybot and then when it gives the results, delete vundo , if you can, otherwise you'll have to reinstall the operating system to get rid of it. I'm goin on a whim, but I bet ya that's whats wrong.
  10. Alright , you said you didn't have a video card in there, so I take it you have on board video Although I thought earlier in the thread you said no on board video, I must be mistaken. Sounds then like you need to reset the bios again now that you have a new PS. I would think if you had on board video, that resetting the bios would render the thing active during boot. If this isn;t the case, then put the video card in, and it should work, unless of course in this fiasco, the thing is burnt.
  11. As long as your positive, because I have had that problem. And when this is done, what happens is precisely what you are describing, a couple fans come on, but nothing else works, and no system "beeps".
  12. I'll say it differently. The main power for the motherboard has several wires connected together, they plug into the motherboard. There is generally four wires in a square configuration connected at the end that can be removed to be fit into the motherboard , right next to the main power plug. These wires don't go into the motherboard. Look into the plug itself, the end coming from the power supply, you will see there are different shapes in there, two diagonally that have like "square corners on them. It's the exact opposite of the connecting wires coming from the power supply that certain video cards take. See what I mean yet ? You have to look close at the plastic piece that you plug into the motherboard, the one with the four wires in it. ok, now that there out look at them close, no sense in turning it on, you need power there, just look comming from the power supply, there will be two "four" wire "square" connectors that look identical until you look close.
  13. Sounds exactly like the wrong wires in the separate four at the end of the 20 going to the MB, the ones that go to the video card will not work on the MB, but will work in a video card. The voltages are different. They will slide right in though, but if you look closely, the little shapes in the plug are different between the two. EDIT, even if they were attached to the large power plug, that doesn't mean they were supposed to go in the MB. I don't know why they do that, but there's been several times they were slid in there from the box, and I had to slide them out. and put the correct one in there.

  17. What exactly are you interested in storing about your DNS ?
  18. Isolate the issue. Remove the router for a 24 hour period, set the automatic test here at testmy.net, and post the results in this thread. Whatever the results, you can go from there, after the 24 hour period by removing all but one of the machines, going from one to the next, post your results. This way you can have the proper information logged in your account for diagnosis purpose.
  19. Well shoot, have to ever tried to delete FF and re install ? See if that fixes it? Any one else with FF issues ?
  20. I know you can change the "DPI" or dot per inch scale to increase the font size by right click on the desktop, then personalize, the adjust font or DPI I don't remember what it's called, you can even customize it. I don't know about windows 7 though. Hope it helped.
  21. Machines ran w/o DEP enabled for years, just software based. Who knows anymore though. At least when you get it figured out, you can put it in the guides section, I can't find jack diddly jit on it anywhere lol
  22. Get rid of it, and re install, I have FF on another machine, and I have no problems with this site and it. Might be an addon messin with things too, I bet you have a bunch of them without even asking.
  23. I'm sure this will be taken care of ASAP, the time difference may prevent immediate notification, hang in there and thanks for your notice of this error
  24. The site owner has been notified, thank you for presenting this.
