  7. Well thats more like it Believe it or not, I use the Fiber optics file, that works best for me . Looks like you hit a good file , I would stay wherever you are . As far as the packet loss, do a ping test from your command prompt , and post it here. Ping to testmy.net
  8. test again please , and post Oh yea, did you re-boot, after the ccs file ? Did you install the 2k file, or the XP file? You seemed to have lowered your score a bit
  9. Is this the first time you have checked your speeds, or have you recently gotten the new service? The reason I ask, is many times the bandwidth is lower than advertised speeds due to network congestion. Certain times of the day, or night, when everyone is on the net. Not saying you can't do better though. As for the ccs file for cablenut, look for the one that matches your advertised speeds, use that one. then re-test. I'll try and see if I can locate the right one for you. ok, goto http://www.testmy.net/topic-1013 then download all settings, then version 9 , then cable, dsl, fiber , dailup, then winxp cable dsl, then I would try the MTU 1500. use the 3000, or 6000 file, I know there's a 5000 file just can't find it lol
  10. Hi castilia48, welcome to testmy.net Would you please run the speed test here, for the upload and download test, post them here, and please tell us what bandwidth you are supposed to be getting from your ISP. That would be a good start, then whoever has the most experience in your connection will certainly assist you
  11. Would I be out of line in asking what you guy's are payin for the extreme package ?
  12. Would you please explain to me what you mean by " allrounder" ?
  13. Switch to Linux? J/K lol nice speeds none the less. I couldn't tell you how to tweak Vista , so thats the best suggestion I would have
  14. I would agree, he must be near the station.
  15. OK, in my crusade to either learn by error, or to simply make things work the way I would like to see them, I adjusted the TTL settings through a small program , and now the connection times out , O inadvertently set the damn thing to " 3 " lol. Obviously that will not work. What would be the best way , preferably in a shell, anyone?
  16. Just for shts and ggles, do a test from this NTD server @ Stanford. Post the " details , and the rest of the info , so we can see best what your connection is doing. http://netspeed.stanford.edu/
  17. Hell yes ! You got me frickin wired about it!
  18. Right, but not really because I don't believe his sat goes directly to TMN servers, or even close Of course I could be wrong
  19. Like Tdawn stated, generally when all the lights are on " flashing " means some sort of mechanical malfunction, of course not always , none the less, check your ink cartridges, making sure they are seated well, and haven't come lose. Check for ink levels, and paper jams. On the silly note, is there paper in there?, Is it inserted completely into the tray? I know silly, but I sounds rather as if you have a simple issue , disguising itself by freakin out , and flashin all the lights. Post back , let us know
  20. lol, cool name , I've been there Do a bit of reading http://www.testmy.net/t-3924.60 here, Start from the beginning. If you have ANY questions please post them, and we will all do whatever we can. There are many things you can do to help your connection speed out, so lets get started
  21. You also have to keep in mind that at some point in time, there will be issues w/ route that your signal takes . Lets say theres a line down in the massive web of connections in your normal route. Therefore the signal takes another path that may be a bit more congested for the time being. Always test again to insure accuracy. :::.. 23. E-Mail him back , and act all exited. Tell him you have had a similar situation, and you would like to do anything possible to assist him. In the meantime, so some investigating of your own, and find out where the E-mail originated from. Once you have found an original address, cook up a tiny little potion for him in the means of a flash, or something like an advertisement, find a 5k cave and inject something real nice for him. You should be in his database as a sender so you should be accepted. When he opens the e-mail, he'll have to click on your flash or whatever you have chosen, he'll not want to read it, set the run link to your concoction in the red "X" button, and it will execute when he tries to close it out . Uhh, not really. You did the right thing .
  24. EEEEK . Did they have a ( originally ) , another partition w/ the software on it ? Or do the restore disks boot , and re- install all of the software in a set of two or three disks? W/ none that specifically say " Operating System " ?
  25. ok, I'm sure Swimmer will have the correct answer for you, but I believe the restore CD you put in , replaced the Boot loader on dev0 , therefore it doesn't see the other partitions. As to my knowledge , Grub in my laymans terms , is a more or less dual boot, boot loader which allows the selection to boot ( or see ) from any existing bootable partitions on any secondary virtual devices that may be set up. I do believe , if you are using XP, you should be able to place the Linux cd you installed from in, select repair, and this will repair the Linux bootable partition on dev 0 Hdd0. As to the dev 1 boot loader for XP, I have always had trouble repairing this w/ out the complete re-installation of windows. Of course this all depends on how many partitions you have created in the initital installation. None the less , you should at least be able to recover the Linux table. OK, Swimmer take over and correct me
