This is interesting for sure how people carry their devices. Some use them as communication on many levels, which in my opinion is great. Other seem to sincerely live as an extention of that device, snapping random snap shots, short clips for vine, or letting soeone know they just had a big poo. Anything that you have to give time, is either a relationship at times, or another personal matter. Nothing else waits. There are a million analogies that could go along with the statement 'give it time' - you'll get used to it ' --- at the same time , if you use it and like it , keep it. If it's just awkward then think. Awkward is a feeling just as any other, in a sense a warning sign. Not necessaily negitive or positive, but youesenses , you. /deep

My input is only of basic knowledge of dreamhost and VPN VPN can be slow simply due to the security features Dreamhost is not known for their speed or uptime -

Why are my results here so much lower than with other tests?

If I might interject a thought - many times after heavy freeze / thaw cycles, moisture seeps in one of a plethora of small spaces. Freezes and expands in the process. Add a bit of wind then warmer tempuratures with load, and any node will fail. Transferring data streams to secondary routes. Which in turn overloads already heavily used networks. Which is not the point of my post. The switching to and fro the failover networks due to an anomoly of the same sort will cause precicely what you are describing. Just a few thoughts. -
If there is a maximum test cycle, the only reason I can think not to have a 15 minute interval might be encroaching on flood control. You set this for a reason.

I am also looking for reviews on the latest Airport Extreme , in comparison this the nighthawk
-
Ca3le and Sparticus {or anyone else using the 'nighthawk"} How is this router performing since your purchase? Roughly what is the range, or the furthest away you have been able to use efficiently your network. Thanks
-
Hi TBath652, When testing 30 minutes or less, tests have a maximum of 25 cycles. Thanks

So I get the call from a client yesterday, " hey, were moving in our new house in 30 days, I need you to get my network up" WHATT ? lol Wait , you built a new house call me after the drywall is up carpets laid, just putting finishing touches on your new 3000++sqft home and say this. Nothing pulled in the wall network wise. He says "hey it's all wireless now man" -- UHHG You long timers here should know I'm not a huge fan of relying on wireless in this fashion , maybe that's it , I was born before cell phones turning on kitchen fawcets and living the mobile communications life. I can dig it , just enjoy the what I percieve as benefits of a solid core cat6-plenum running through my walls. All routed back to a switch next to your firewall appliance. Put those wireless repeaters wherever they're needed. So I have Sonos, Apple Time capsule, iHome system, half dozen wireless HD TV's, and well pretty much anything else you can think of wireless that does - well anything when you're not standing in front of it. Including CCTV - DVR remote acess - ect ect ect - And much less than 30 days to get the topology drawn up installed and configured. Freaking love a challenge like this. Should be rather simple , then again nothing truly is.

Interested to know what the cause of this issues was / is. Any updates as to how things are movng along for you ?
-
Please do not take this as agressive , however, I stand by my initial assessment that Van Burens cablenut tweaks could not and would not have caused these type of issues with your HDD's. If you have the ability to show actual HDD assesment through one of the many resources , so that we can determin or at the least analyse your issue , and attempt to assess the issue , this would be greatly appreciated. Have you any tools to show hard drive health ? If you ned advice in this area we are sure to assist in this area.
-
Hi Taine, I do not see where you have run any speed tests as of yet, are you able to accomplish this ? The tweaks you mention should not produce any of the effects you are explaining.

I remember slowly making the move to 'smart phones' , as time went on i found myself spending more and more time staring at that device. Now don't get me wrong, I sure would enjoy having an iPhone for all the times I really need to access email / txt ext immediately and momentarily, to me it's just not with the costs involved.

Trying all day to find the issue. My connection mainly goes through Cleveland, however connecting to most anything on the west coast goes through as expected. However most CDN, overseas and anything southern US, midwest, has some serious connectivity issue. Anyone else find this today ? Due to out of the ordinary cold temperatures, or something more sinister ? Or hell , local issue ? Visti godaddy, or centos = terrible, tmn no problem ,though a little sticky. Root / such as DNS providers are fine, standard sites are at times inaccessible. Google servers are even ranging from 8 ms to 20 ms. I'm sure there's a stack of them locally. Forget Facebook, most images don't load, or load well after the page does, including videos ect. Hell this post took two hits on 'post' before it took , and editing is a biatch lol

Wish I could help, I stay with the flip phone.

Many times you cannot wipe the drive without the password. because it's not stored on the platter but on the drive board itself. Though there are a few small programs out there that will allow you to boot from cd /usb and deal with this. At the same time , doing this sometimes you'll find the directory is no longer valid due to boot loader changes during the password removal, in that manner of speaking. At this point the remaining readable data can be cloned in several different manners.

keep at it, but consider it a hobby at this point. With a smile of course, in time they should opt to get the lines fixed. Although obviously not a walk over and flip the switch item.

He has to be powering up right now, I get that feeling from him again, some bad a$$ things are about to happen in the coming months. It's like the calm before the storm. He'll stay up for literally days on end, sometimes not remembering exactly what he did afterwards, behold let there be more features to testmy.net. Not speaking for him , just throwing this in there if you don't get a response as fast as you might wish Guarantee he's on it though.

Gandi.net Is a new found love for me. The reason for the latency in transfer, I have domain privacy set inmost domains, since the registered privacy email is a no-reply and not to myself or my company, of course i would see no activity. As soon as i removed the privacy setting and re initiated the transfer, I was amazed within the same afternoon everything was complete. Of course this particular domain is a .com , none the less, same day all emails from previous registrar and gandi.net were received complied with and moved forward. I'm going ahead with the rest of the domains starting today. As they get into the last three month period , they go to gandi.net. And they will get all of my future business at the is point. Just a kicker, you can choose upon transfer to keep your existing DNS \o/ wow ! Transfer and done ! As the registrar populates the DNS stays the same , no downtime, no rushing to change the DNS before the live site goes down. Very freaking cool. Gandi.net gives you email with each domain (if you choose to use it) and a free three page site with each domain. As well as a plethora of other perks. I don't get it , how can they be so freaking awesome, and there not small , far as I can tell at least from 2011 they held over 1.5 million domains, this is not small , and I can imagine if I looked it up much more than this by now. AND they accept most if not all extensions , including new, and set you up for land rush if your into that. I can actually have one registrar for all my domains ? OMGosh !! Lot of love gandi.net

Depending on what you mean by HDD password , it can go either way. if this is a BIOS pass, or an authentications pass {some softwares produce an encrypted drive} that can only be un encrypted with the password. On startup. These can be very difficult. Regular lost windows {any breed} passwords can easily be 'repaired' with the proper knowledge. So your question is quite more complex than at first glance On another note - again depending on what softwares this person has used, the HDD pass word could very well be held on the HDD chip itself - which mean honestly, many or most of the time forget it without the pass, or a real math processor to take the hash and solve the equation. Did i say too much ?

Good to hear from you Ninja ! Lots more people still use desktops, and windows 7 gets lots of virus's and maleware just as any other - keeps my bills payed actually.

Seems as if there is no eggnog around here anymore. Not one drop.

Yes they are! I can't say enough about TiP summery when testing from / to different locations, tracking down issues whether locally or on the route, I freakin' love it !
