Tried swapping out the device yet (DVD)

So if you can boot from both the 'disk' and the HDD what is the issue ? At first it sounds as if you cannot boot from the DVD drive, then you say you can but not in the order you wish. /confoozed

$34.99 for 50/6 is great ! 75/10 for 60 is even better if you can swing it. I would opt for cable over DSL any day in a residential setting.

The results are far too constant to be an anomaly. You are being throttled at some point, or limited in one way or another for whatever reason yet unknown. Please goto the download test page > https://testmy.net/download < , look in the header and insure the central server is selected. Run a few tests from this server please.

Yes, although the point is that many 'nasties' modify the host file without us knowing it. See, people used this for advertising as well as the script kiddies playing hack -n- sack. One small download can create a local webpage, consisting of a redirect within itself to {wherever} now before this, the host file is also accessed to change the IP address of a specific domain name you visited or 'they' want you to visit. It's a rather simply script and has been used for years to join the machine into a botnet. which many times accomplished no more than serving up ads , replacing those from the cookies or other settings you have made, with the ones in which target you by the data on your machine Vs. the data associated with your google searches. NASTY! lol If the hosts file becomes too large ( if that is possible is another discussion - yet imo is entirely an issue at times ) you can reset your hosts file on windows7 per MS article KB972034 BTW -- bad A$$ avatar !

You are using firefox on windows as well ? Or IE ? Maybe I missed where you mentioned. If you have not cleaned out the hosts file in some time , possibility tells us along with the rest of what you say, something is amiss in that file. possibly redirecting your traffic before it's final destination. May want to check the registry as well, I cannot recommend a registry cleaner, the chances of them removing something you need is sometimes greater than finding what it believes should not be there. Chances are that something is also playing in that sandbox as well either way. Windows7 host file location~ c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc

Good idea goodwin I've seen the same thing with wireless, sometimes there are other reasons aside limited bandwidth for this, such as 900mhz cordless phones, or wireless camera's, things of this nature. At the same time , the path to the wireless connection may be getting interference from one of the above, there could be limitations or QOS settings in the wireless configuration, that are throttling certain packets or ports. Such as P2P, streaming media, VoIP and gaming port ranges.

Yes shooting for sport is one of the only sports I participate in. To me it's a goal to get my patterns tight , regular. At different ranges as well as conditions or devices. I've done this fairly heave for the better part of 30 years, more so as I get older. Hey, you do football or hockey, I do target shooting for entertainment. I've been around firearms for all of my life , literally. My family owned a sporting goods store for more than one hundred years, which ended up predominantly firearms. They do not scare me , I am not worried what they may do on their own on some drunken rampage or psychotic episode. They are nothing more than stamped , pressed ground and shaped by the hands and machines of men. Inanimate objects that will sit quietly wherever left , even corrode and rust back into their carbon based core compound. Amazingly enough, society simply needs something to blame , something to be angry with , and someone to call out, tar and feather. Even so, most people are reasonable, at the same time , many are not their true selves. Propaganda is something much more than a poster to scare children and force their parents to react. That is old school. Todays propaganda is much more infiltration into every aspect of the mind. Slight and subtle images in all media, television is key, so many people do what they do , then come home and sit dumbfounded in front of the tube, they are easy targets, very easy. Images can be manipulated so slightly to represent a piece of the puzzle, sounds and feelings within commercials and during the 'programming' << what 'program' do you prefer to watch ? For instance, I sat down last night to watch a new cooking show, hey don't laugh I do all the cooking daily, and i could always use a little something new on the menu lol I don't normally watch but at times i do, I realized how mad this whole thing really is. Soon as I sat I noticed flashes with symbols i could not recognize even paused ( lots of flashing ) , interesting the program was called 'the taste' , before breaking to commercial from the fodder it already is, the graphic is a circle with blue and red, something splashing around, and soda looking splashes around the circle, soon after the new symbol on air force one is stretched out along the right side. This all happens in just under three seconds. I played it slow several times. Just one teensy example of programming. I don't mind entertaining the latest idea's of slowing down the mass amounts of hatred in media, between sex, murder, fraud and extreme violence , the entire industry is chock full of desensitizing compounds. Sure , we can say , don''t like it , don't watch, sounds good in theory yes ? Does not work, as what we are becoming is what we are filling our thoughts with the most , right ? Goes to say , who we surround ourselves with , shows who we are , or who we are striving to become , no ?
