TheHalf Posted August 5, 2006 CID Share Posted August 5, 2006 That's definately a neat looking website, unfortunately at first I could only get upload results until I completely shutdown ZoneAlarm. 8/5/2006 5:50:40 AM PST 6764 kbps 844 kbps 40 ms New York, NY 289 miles 8/5/2006 5:54:09 AM PST 6617 kbps 837 kbps 42 ms Washington, DC 284 miles 8/5/2006 5:55:30 AM PST 6373 kbps 811 kbps 58 ms Chicago, IL 454 miles 8/5/2006 5:56:55 AM PST 3059 kbps 837 kbps 45 ms Atlanta, GA 688 miles 8/5/2006 5:58:09 AM PST 6960 kbps 758 kbps 70 ms Dallas, TX 1219 miles I ran the test with all the servers on the east coast and Dallas, not too bad except for Atlanta. php Posted August 5, 2006 CID Share Posted August 5, 2006 Looks cool but it wasn't very accurate for me... 8/5/2006 6:22:29 AM PST 977 kbps 494 kbps 760 ms Atlanta, GA 611 miles
dlewis23 Posted August 5, 2006 CID Share Posted August 5, 2006 its a pertty good speed test, it used the same servers as the speakeasy test uses and the speed test is made by the same people. But they are still not as accurate as testmy.net. 8/5/2006 6:40:19 AM PST 6339 kbps 415 kbps 32 ms Atlanta, GA 612 miles
gotmilk Posted August 5, 2006 CID Share Posted August 5, 2006 Wow, that's nice, looks cool, pretty accurate too. Just because I'm bored, I'm going to test on all the servers and post the results. Hmm, I just noticed that if I turn off my firewall my ping goes down by an average of about 15ms to the San Fransisco server (ran a lot of tests with it on and off to make sure), but when I turn off my firewall my speed goes down by at least 13 Kbps. Upload stays the same. Turn firewall off = -15ms ping and -13 Kbps. Decisions, decisions...... I'll test with my firewall off, probably the most accurate results. In order of distance from me starting with farthest: EDIT: AAGGGHHHH!!! I can't get an accurate upload test to testmy.net right now. I don't know why, I did several tests and got the same thing every time, then I went to back to speakeasy and it was normal again. :::.. testmy.net test results ..::: Download Connection is:: 2982 Kbps about 2.98 Mbps (tested with 2992 kB) Download Speed is:: 364 kB/s Upload Connection is:: 144 Kbps about 0.14 Mbps (tested with 386 kB) Upload Speed is:: 18 kB/s Tested From:: https://testmy.net (Server 1) Test Time:: 2006/08/05 - 8:13am D-Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-FZML8DGSY U-Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-2Z9T43OBS User Agent:: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.0.6) Gecko/20060728 Firefox/1.5.0.6 [!]
cholla Posted August 5, 2006 CID Share Posted August 5, 2006 Good looking graphics but test accuracy like dlewis23 said compares to speakeasy test . For me on dial-up that translates to DL tests too slow & upload too fast. I'm postig results of the test & testmy tests taken as close as possible to the same time. The DL speed on testmy is correct & unfortunatly fo me so is the UL test. I think if CA3LE could add the distance to server to the testmy results it would be a nice addition. gotmilk Posted August 5, 2006 CID Share Posted August 5, 2006 cholla, that's because it is a speakeasy speed test. Same servers and everything, just with a new look and ping/distance meter. Aha! cholla Posted August 5, 2006 CID Share Posted August 5, 2006 I forgot ping .On the test I took the ping would be to my ISP's server since they block ping to me.They say this is to protect me from DOS(Denial of Service) attacks...I had one ISP that didn't block ping but they were very slow for some reason.I'm not completly satisfied with the one I'm using now.But they will do while I'm looking for another one.I have been checking a few out but I'm taking my time. One plus of the one I use now is their e-mail has never been down. The tech staff doesn't respond very well to e-mail.They prefer a call but you can't send printed info on a call.Giving them proof of tests; etc. I think this is why they prefer a call. But for those that can ping it would be a nice addition too.

Blunted 2 Posted August 5, 2006 Author CID Share Posted August 5, 2006 this test is more accurate and consistent and i get better speeds on speakeasy then to them for some odd reason but i just like the way it looks. :D

porsche6714 Posted August 5, 2006 CID Share Posted August 5, 2006 I thought that the whole visual set up was really cool. It gave me decent speeds even through i'm on my wireless laptop which usually gets around 1000kbps less than my desktop computer. Roco Posted August 6, 2006 CID Share Posted August 6, 2006 nice visuals , but again highlighted a strange result for me my local ping (162 miles ) 33ms, my ping to Usa 199 ms but my speeds to usa 10% higher than local , if I test in europe (300 miles) I get even lower speeds, than local no complaining , just odd, guess my Isp knows my loyalty to TMN

Blunted 2 Posted August 6, 2006 Author CID Share Posted August 6, 2006 i dont get great results from it but with my adsl it says i am 1 mile from the server with a 70 ping which is weird but heh its probably hard to set that test up. just like i said the 1 thing that got me was how cool it looks.
