JohnA Posted October 3, 2005 CID Share Posted October 3, 2005 Has anyone seen the full 2000Kbps up yet? I've only saw 1800ish.. I can consistently see all of my 2M up, but I can't see it on testmy tests. Pittsburgh to Dallas apparently is a rough route as I can see the stalls, minor though they may be, it's enough to affect my results. I was using the web100 test at RIT NY, but they seem to have taken it down, so these results are from the one at NSF in VA. http://ciseweb100.cise-nsf.gov:7123/ TCP/Web100 Network Diagnostic Tool v5.2.1e click START to begin Checking for Middleboxes . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Done running 10s outbound test (client to server) . . . . . 2.07Mb/s running 10s inbound test (server to client) . . . . . . 5.23Mb/s The slowest link in the end-to-end path is a 10 Mbps Ethernet subnet click START to re-test Checking for Middleboxes . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Don't know why. Haven't had a chance to do all the reboots to try and isolate which settings help with the up side on the tests.
a_abutin Posted October 3, 2005 Author CID Share Posted October 3, 2005 I'm curious, what MTU settings would you recommend on the router side? I believe my RV082 is set to auto, which I think is 1492. If I fiddle with this setting would it make any significant difference in the speeds? VznPro Posted October 5, 2005 CID Share Posted October 5, 2005 Crap they are using PPPoE for FIOS now? I know when they rolled it out in Keller (guess where Im moving to next week ) it was DHCP like the DSL is in Texas? Not that I dislike PPPoE but its more prone to problems than straight DHCP is. *shrugs* oh well, 15/2 here I come (until they drop the 30/5 price then Im all over that) Anyone know if the biz package offers Static IPs yet? KingCobra Posted October 7, 2005 CID Share Posted October 7, 2005 Anyone know if the biz package offers Static IPs yet? I've been running the static 15/2 plan for months. It isn't offered in all regions. It is available in North Texas.
TM Posted October 7, 2005 CID Share Posted October 7, 2005 they are rolling back or to depending on where your from DHCP sometime not sure when nothngs been announced so far i'll keep you posted on it as i get details.
Thespis Posted November 13, 2005 CID Share Posted November 13, 2005 5/5 vs 15/2 ... I don't think I'd pay 169.95 for 5/5 vs 15/2 @59.95 .. upload speed is a not as critical as download for me It's not just speed. 5/5 is a business plan with a static IP and no blocked ports. a_abutin Posted July 27, 2006 Author CID Share Posted July 27, 2006 Yet another year later and FIOS speeds holding true. Currently hosting a web/ftp server on it, one that does not see public use but rather for my own learning experience. Can't say the same about FIOS TV...was told that my area was eligible, signed up for it, then never heard from them for a month. Called to confirm and was told it would be ready in another month. And yet another month passes with an install date for a month later so cancelled it. I guess FIOS TV isn't ready for me.
