kmack Posted April 26, 2005 Author CID Share Posted April 26, 2005 We are connected through a hub and then to the dish by cables
Swimmer Posted April 26, 2005 CID Share Posted April 26, 2005 I doubt it is a hub.. probally a switch.. of some type.. You are on satelite.. the slowest form of broadband.. Since you are in Iraq my guess is that weather and other solar activites are interfering with the transmission speeds of the satelites.. So what you see is what you are going to get.. I dont know enought about what the military has as far as internet to help ya very much..
netmasta Posted April 26, 2005 CID Share Posted April 26, 2005 You'd think it would be better since the military literally invented the internet.
Swimmer Posted April 27, 2005 CID Share Posted April 27, 2005 yeah but that doesnt mean that they technology will work in a feakin desert.... My guess is that they are limiting the bandwidth to the solders.. and using most of it for communications and other mission critical stuff.. plus they are only checking email.. you dont need a t1 to do that. Yea true. They probably are limiting it. But 1Kb? You need more than that to access e-mail.

netmasta Posted April 27, 2005 CID Share Posted April 27, 2005 Mabey the IP address is registered in Germany. I think it depends on where the ISP has it's offices.

Regards Ken i am sorry but there is nothing you can do about that satelite communications are famous for being slow specially on upload i don't know if u are connected via the military or u are some one from the press i don't want to know thats private but what i want to make it clear is that is very probably as good as it gets
jay173 Posted June 24, 2005 CID Share Posted June 24, 2005 could be satelite postion, distance cause iraq has no mountins, or they could be limiting bandwidth per user
tennesseeme Posted June 26, 2005 CID Share Posted June 26, 2005 OR THEN AGAIN, its because your IN IRAQ!!!! ok i had to edit it, that was mean, im thinking line quality is bad over there, SatCom and Scycom prbbly week. im thinking, man, your in a third world country. No telling whats jamming your signals, maybe even that timer on that "dirtybomb" down the street. Or the fact a bullet grazed your cable node/ POTS NID. are u on dial up? cable? dsl? ads? satallite.. *HUB: im sure you probably are using hubs there, crazy... that's another reason, RAW bandwidth divided by users, maybe your getting what you should. im thinking, go into msconfig, disable a buncha stuff, u might be able to get some upload going, check for spyware/malware etc.. then u can email family and check back here in between suicide bombings and what not holy crap get out of there ahahhaa.
