milchama Posted September 19, 2005 CID Share Posted September 19, 2005 In past threads I have said that Norton was a good antivirus program then in other threads I said that AVG was even better. Well, today AVG said I had 8 viruses but it could'nt deal with them??? So I uninstalled AVG and Installed Kaspersky not only did it remove or fix those 8 viruses but it also found an additional 10 other viruses and threats and dealt with them all Kaspersky uses more resources than does AVG but I'd rather be secure than infected with viruses. krazyrag Posted September 19, 2005 CID Share Posted September 19, 2005 Stay with kaspersky and dont look back it still the best antivirus scanner , sure the scanning time is longer than others but hey, its for the best. if its giving you resource problems or something my 2nd option would be bit defender. just my opinion. VampireXxX Posted September 19, 2005 CID Share Posted September 19, 2005 :haha: another happy kaspersky's customer..... I use KAV to scan my puter and it only take abt 30 mins but when i used KIS, it took 3 hrs to complete......KIS take more resource than KAV, so i think i'll stick with KAV

cholla Posted September 19, 2005 CID Share Posted September 19, 2005 I have AVG & haven't had any virus it couldn't handle .I did have 2 that it had to remove from safe mode.I also ocassionally check mt PC with the Kaspersky online scanner it has never found a virus so for me AVG is working. But that doesn't mean it does for everyone. milchama Posted September 19, 2005 Author CID Share Posted September 19, 2005 Cholla, Yea AVG was free and it checked up daily and downloaded daily updates It worked really good for a while, and I really liked how it didnt take up many system resources even while scanning system for viruses. Although, all of the sudden my new notebook had infections it could not deal with even in safe mode. If this didnt happen I would still have AVG. I was at some questionable websites and this was probably how I got the viruses. Most people dont do this on the internet and therefore seldom have any serious issues with viruses. I had the BETA version of Kaspersky and was really turned off but 5.0 and anti-hacker 1.8 are truly awsome get'm both for $49.99 at kaspersky.com This program is a bit less resource hungry than Norton and more powerful than any other Antivirus program out there. I just ran a scan test from sygate on my ports to test my anti-hacker firewall and I am all safe and secure "so says the test"

cholla Posted September 19, 2005 CID Share Posted September 19, 2005 I do use the Kaspersky Anti-Virus Web Scanner Beta version 5.0.50.0 http://www.kaspersky.com/beta?product=161744315 When I use this online scan it has never found a virus in my PC so unless this Kaspersky online scanner doesn't find the viruses its other antivirus that you have in your os does then the AVG is finding & stopping the viruses that try to get into my system. It might not at questionable sites. I web surf where ever I have need to & will deal with viruses if I get them.So for now I will keep using AVG.

dn0 Posted September 19, 2005 CID Share Posted September 19, 2005 OK, now I have been converted, Kaspersky is worth paying for. My brother's computer has been hosed for a few days now (porn) and he can't explain why (porn). Both avast! and AVG found and supposedly fixed the Trojan problem, but it kept popping up. Re-ran avast! and AVG, both said the machine was clean. So I get home from work tonight and sit down, determined to get rid of the virus. The first thing I do is run Kaspersky's On-Line free virus scanner. It locates the two last files containing the virus that the others did not see. Files deleted, no more sign of the virus (so far). I'm liking Kaspersky today, thats for sure. BTW, my brother picked up this virus 1 day after (porn) I reformatted and re-loaded windows 2K for him. Also had avast! and Spy-Bot S&D loaded and running before I gave it back to him.
cak46 Posted September 19, 2005 CID Share Posted September 19, 2005 AVG (Free edition) for 5 years, clean as a whistle. Having dealt with quite a few machines riddled with viruses, spyware, malware, trojans, etc. there is no one product that protects you from all or cleans them all. If you find it, buy it, then let me know!
