Stank_Ho;If you know where the leak is or about where it is & can find it with some dishwashing liquid .Clean the area gently .You can usually pull the coil fins from the area as necessary. Then take a good epoxy (like JB Weld & patch the leak.It probably won't patch it permanantly but should slow a small leak or stop it.I did this on a small refridgerator one time & it never did leak again. It was a small one at work & someone had jabbed a hole in it with a knife.

That should fix it alright. Heres a link to a song about the one I want. http://www.amazon.com/gp/music/clipserve/B00000I02I001003/0/ref=mu_sam_wma_001_003/002-5402087-9800036

I don't think I want one its too much for something that doesn't record.

jeffwalker9999;I have Windows ME.I use msconfig & remove what i don't want starting up from the start up tab. There is a run key somewhere in the registry that has the start up programs.Press Ctrl-Alt-Delete see if there anything there after you start up that you don't need to start up.And remove it from start up.These are pretty generic instructions you find a lot of places. On the fonts I went to the Adobe site & found a couple of articles maybe they will help. http://store.adobe.com/type/browser/fontinstall/instructions_english.html http://www.adobe.com/support/techdocs/328607.html

thecableguy;I call my post a non-recomendation for Radio Shack I should have added "At your own risk" Here is a testmy link on grounding. Please don't send lightening up my rear because it contains posts from a former "member non grata" http://www.testmy.net/forum/index.php?topic=1657.0 -

Shug7272;I gave some explination but resopalrabotnick explained why better. thecableguy ;The reason that the GFI is being discussed does inform that it won't do the job so still on topic. I don't know if a lightening arrestor like the one in the,pdf I'm posting would work with a cable computer connection. It is actually for outdoor antennas .I'm not spamming for this one its just an example if you want to find one at Radio Shack its fine with me. resopalrabotnick;Full of good info as always. Thanks that saved me looking up the info. This would drive the forensics team crazy fry some guy with a GFI on a rubber mat then take the mat. -
How many 110 outlets are in your house?

This looks like a good place for a short lesson in jump starting a vehicle.I'm going to use a negative ground vehicle as the example. It would be opposite for a positive ground. You connect both jumper cables to the battery terminals of the vehicle with the good battery & the positive jumper to the positive battery terminal of the vehicle with the dead battery .Then you connect the negative jumper cable to a good ground on the engine.(like a tightening bracket bolt) as far from the battery as possible. The reason for this is when you connect the last jumper cable it usually sparks & this is what sometimes explodes a dead battery. When disconnecting the cables disconnect the one grounded to the engine First. Usually when a dead battery explodes is because the vehicle is hard to start & the battery is heated producing Hydrogen gas from the sulfuric acid in the battery. The spark ignites the Hydrogen. The other problem that usually heats a battery is the voltage regulator goes bad & allows an overcharge frying the battery .This also produces the hydrogen. I have known a few people severally scarred from an exploded battery. These were mechanics that knew how to connect the jumper cables & didn't use the correct procedure. BTW I have used both 24V & 48V to jump a 12V battery. The voltage isn't the problem .Shop battery chargers basically do this when you set them to high. It is possible to explode the good battery also if you connect to it second & produce a spark too near the battery. -

I think both are correct about the GFI.I'm not sure of the exact amount of current to ground necessary to trip the breaker inside the GFI.Less than the amount that should electrocute a child or what would be the point of having them. But they might allow enough current to fry any electronics plugged into them.I didn't try to find how much current if someone knows please post it. -
coknuck; I read some & most of the blame was put on chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) & bromofluorocarbon from halons. It really didn't explain why other Chlorine & Bromine especially any released as a gas didn't reach the stratosphere like the chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) & bromofluorocarbons Ozone can be destroyed by a number of free radical catalysts, the most important of which are hydroxyl (OH), nitric oxide (NO) and atomic chlorine (Cl) and bromine (Br). All of these radicals have both natural and anthropogenic (manmade) sources. At the present time, most of the OH and NO in the stratosphere is of natural origin, but human activity has dramatically increased the chlorine and bromine. These elements are found in certain stable organic compounds, especially chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs), which may find their way to the stratosphere without being destroyed in the troposphere. Once in the stratosphere, the Cl and Br atoms are liberated from the parent compounds by the action of ultraviolet light, and can destroy ozone molecules in a catalytic cycle. In this cycle, a chlorine atom reacts with an ozone molecule, taking an oxygen atom with it (forming ClO) and leaving a normal oxygen molecule. A free oxygen atom then takes away the oxygen from the ClO, and the final result is an oxygen molecule and a chlorine atom, which then reinitiates the cycle. The chemical shorthand for these reactions are: Cl + O3 --> ClO + O2 ClO + O --> Cl + O2 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In sum O3 + O --> O2 + O2 For this mechanism to operate there must be a source of O atoms, which is primarily the photodissociation of O3. A single chlorine atom would keep on destroying ozone for up to two years (the time scale for transport back down to the troposphere) were it not for reactions that remove them from this cycle by forming reservoir species such as hydrochloric acid and chlorine nitrate. On a per atom basis, bromine is even more efficient than chlorine at destroying ozone, but there is much less bromine in the atmosphere at present. As a result, both chlorine and bromine contribute significantly to the overall ozone depletion.

I have dial -up I use a surge protector the the phone lines plug in also.I get better than average speed for my distance from the CO.So I think my surge protector is compatable.I did put in a 6 foot coper coated ground rod that goes to my NID the phone company had it grounded to my water pipe. The NID also has two lightening arresters inside. For those that don't know these are behind the bolts that your service line connects to.If you are having phone or modem problems with dial-up & maybe DSL have you phone company replace the arrestors or the whole NID if it has been there a long time. -
tommie gorman ;You are right the average mask is not rated to remove asbestos. Not even the better quality 3M one like I have used. They do make a folding respirator that is almost like a mask that is asbestos rated.I haven't used one.The brake materials used today are supposed to be asbestos free. But you might run into it on an older car. & like I said who knows what the effects of the material they use now will be in twenty years. So I guess wetting any of it would be a good idea. as for the cheap 5 for a dollar masks they're good for keeping dirt off your nose. j3grizz;I hope your dad dodged the bullit like it looks like so far I have. I know we have gotten off topic with the asbestos.

EWO ; I have to congratulate anyone that beats tobacco.I understand nicotine is hard to quit. The herb is also hard for some people to quit it was for me.I tried to just taper off several times but only cold turkey worked for it as well. One effect I remember is a lot of strange very vivid dreams.I guess the neurons were beginning to fire again.they say herb effects the synapsis( not sure I spelled that correct). To those that say it isn't addictive .I say if it's not addictive to you great it was to me.I guess like alcohol to an alcoholic.

tommie gorman ;I take precautions now but only do a small amount of brake work I do use brake kleen but prefer to wear a mask as well. The problem is I had already been exposed to a lot of airborne brake shoe dust of high asbestos content before I knew better. We really weren't aware of the danger at the time .especially in high school running the brake shoe grinder.A lot of people probably don't realize who haven't worked on city busses they stop & go almost continually. This means they are very hard on brakes so a fleet of them give you almost daily brake jobs.If you air blow the dust off then a lot of it becomes airborne.Since the linings were bolted to the shoe we cut the bolts that held the pad to the shoe frame with an air chisel.I did this for 3 years it has been a long time since I had this level of exposure .So I thank God that no cancer has shown up so far.As for the smoking iI had heard about that but I doubt if the study covered what I was smoking. It may be the same & maybe not.

I would be the first to say." Say no to Drugs" now.One of the girls I ran around with way back then ODed at 16.I started later than a lot of my friends.I was 17.Way to young if there was a right age to start.I didn't quit as soon as I should have either. But there aren't any time machines or I would go back & never start.I fortunatly don't have any health problems from it that I know of.As far as I know most of my group of friends are still alive .Most left town & I only hear from them once in awhile.I like Amarillo so I stayed here. The only one that is still here was & probably still is an alcholic. He tripped while drunk & broke his neck & is now in a wheel chair.

Shug7272;I did put it there you just have to do a little math. Some days I would put "old" others I would say what are you talking about old? I like be a hardass sometimes.

justinlay;Have you cleaned the condenser(outside unit) like j3grizz suggested? How much sun is directly hitting the unit right now ? If you do clean the condenser make sure you turn off the electricity to it & let it dry for a while after washing it. Sinply put the condenser is your heat disapation unit so the cooler it is the better it works.I mean shaded the air coming out from it should feel hot.

My age is in my profile .It's the correct one. I never got into the harder drugs even if I turned 13 in 1966 kind of in the hippie era.I did smoke too much medicinal herb but even quite it in 1985.Drug free since.

Swimmer;Do you have 5,500 different fonts?

jeffwalker9999 ;Is it possible you DLed some spyware with the new fonts. For my OS fonts I only use .fon but most browsers have to use ttf so I have to use tff for it..I checked my font file & the Courier New Bold is 300K by itself so I can't see why a 20K file would cause a slow down.Do you have Adobe Reader?I ask incase if you don't it might effect the adobe fonts & it might not.

No I never got into tobacco.I got sick a few times as a kid when some of my kinfolk let me sample some tobacco in various ways.It wasn't so good at the time but worked out better for me in the long run. Now for the rest of the story .I did take to smoking a medicinal herb when I was younger I'll let you figure out which one.I quit that in 1985 & haven't smoked anything since. Except for meat.

tommie gorman ;I don't plan to start doing this but a very interesting read. This doesn't apply in most cases but you might mant to check the property you plan to buy or what you already have for abandonned water wells,Septic tanks.cesspools ;etc. These may have been there even before the current houses were built.I'm not sure the exact method to use if there's no public records through building & plumbing permits.I think a good metal detector might find a lot.Check out any area that it found that shouldn't have anything there. Just a suggestion.

There's also a lot of distance between Texline & Brownsville north to south ; & between El Paso & Texarkana west to east. So the temp can vary a lot. coknuck ; Most of the electricity used by a swamp cooler is the motor that drives the blower.Usually betweea a half & a quarter HP.So pretty efficient.I would have used swamp cooler instead of evaporative cooler but for those that haven't used one they might have thought you used one if you lived in the swamp. Most of the time the humidity in Amarillo is low enough I can use the swamp cooler. It was actually 6% one day last week which is low even for here. I would say normal is 25 to 35 %.
