coknuck; No argument about the lawyers .With all the laws we have I guess they are a necessary evil. The bad part is the ones that can afford to keep up the cost of the lawyers usually wins.So most individuals don't have a chance. I'm sorry to hear you have lung problems from the chemical exposure.I'm going to thank God I haven't had any yet.during my life I've had considerable exposure to asbestos(from vehicle brakes) .It started in high school .They used to make oversize brake shoes & my school automechanics class had a machine for grind these to fit the drum. The minimal dust collector on this was a joke. They weren't even warning about asbestos back then.So when I or one of the other students was using this there was plenty of asbestos dust in the air.Back then the higher the asbestos content of the brake shoe the better quality it was. After that I was a bus mechanic & we would blow the shoes off with air before taking an air chisel to them. These were the shoes with bolt on liners.so again plenty of asbestos dust. After that they began to warn about asbestos exposure.I could go on but now I at least wear a mask, try not to create dust & most brake shoes or pads no longer contain asbestos. I know this was a little off the topic. But I would advise anyone working on brakes to wear at least a dust mask & not the real cheap ones.A respirator would be better.Try to create as little dust as possible.Because you don't know what they will find in 20 years about the dust from the brake material used now.

Probably will be using the electric co for now.My electric bill last summer was only about 80 dollars for the max.Depending on how things work out I plan to build a house in the country(like Amarillo isn't) in the next two or three years.Even it will probably start with the electric co. but I hope to go more wind energy then.I'm not sure they make an inverter that could power a large refridgerated AC.But since most of the time I can use a evaporative AC an inverter might power that.I have an idea of putting single pad window units with only a water pump powered by electricity & air flow from suction of roof turbines ducted through the ceiling.

tommie ;I knew where BFE was just playing on words .With DFW (Dallas-Fort Worth) being a major beef area & BFE was close enough.Kind of like they call DFW north Texas when Amarillo is about 200 miles north of DFW & about 150 west. You can still go about another 100 miles north of Amarillo before you get to the Oklahoma border.

How many 110 outlets are in your house?
cholla replied to tommie gorman's topic in General Discussion
I got to 21 & ran out of fingers & toes or anything else to count on Actually 26 but 2 are doubles so it could be 28. -
It was hot last week here Amarillo hit 90 degrees & tied a record high.A town only 70 miles south hit 97 degrees F.Very dry here one day the humidity was only 6%. I think wwe will continue hot & dry this summer in Amarillo But I think we will see some bad hurricanes in the US too.I hope I'm wrong . tommie; How can you know "where's the beef" & not know where DFW is?

Van Buren ;I'm going to get some information on the D-Tec it might make a good replacement when mine wears out.I need to do some more research on the ozone layer to make sure it is the chlorine that is effecting it. coknuck ;I'm suprised at the amount of chlorine that company was allowed to release. There is an ASARCO smelter outside of Amarillo I wonder what they release.I guess I should check.

VanBuren & j3grizz ; I know what enviromental agencies say .The USA one anyway & we have to comply. But my opinion is freon used in refridgeration systems even what leaks doesn't majorily effect global warming. The problem was when freon was used as the propellant in most aerosol cans .These are what may have made the holes in the ozone layer & freon hasn't been used for several years as a propellant. btw the holes in the ozone layer are still getting larger the last time I watched something on it.So even with all the restrictions on freon the problem is getting worse .I say the problem is something else & never was the freon.I have a theory is that since I beleive the ozone destroyer is Chlorine in the freon that other Chlorine sources are the problem.Like evaporating Chlorine bleach for instance. Van what do you think of the tif 5050 halogen leak detector it made by TIF Instruments?
-
j3grizz ;I haven't use the flame type for a long time.the one my dad had would turn the flame green for R -22 or R-12 .When my dad died somehowthe detector disappeared out of his company van along with some other tools that were his.Hard to beleive what your fellow employees will take even in a death situation. I haven't had one since to test to see how it would do for R-134a. So I think yours wiildetect R-12 anyway. My electronic is a tif 5050 .It detects HFC(134a).CFC,&HCFC.It has always found the leak as far as I can tell.

tommie gorman :Van lives in Sweden & CA3LE in Phoenix .There's always a cache or is that catch.

j3grizz ;I agree the electrics can pickup false positives .I've walked around outside for the heck of it & had it go to beeping I'm not sure what it was picking up.Mine has a switch for different types of freon.& a sensativity switch .also its sensor probe is about a foot long to get into tight places. Just curious have you ever used one of the old flame type freon sniffers? There are a few of us gear heads that are forum members.
-
You do but you have to pick up your coupon at Van Buren's house & take it to CA3LE.He will take you to the padded guest room with the world's fastest computer & connection. The cacth is it will only let you do speed tests.

j3grizz;I guess where you can use a soap type solution it is good.My experience is primarily automotive. Its kind of difficult to use a soap solution on the evaporator.I have had good luck with my electronic detector. I'm not totally inexperienced with other refrigeration my dad was an appliance repairman his specialty was refrigerators & freezers.I've watched him silver solder coils & compressors in a refrigerator.I have helped him find leaks with one of the old propane sniffers that the flame turned green when it found the freon leak. I myself live in a part of the country where I can use an evaporative cooler most of the time.I have two refrigerative window units also.No bug problem with them .I just use good side panels & duct tape.In the summer my max bill is around 80 dollars for 1200 ft.Most days the evaporative cooler will keep the house at 68 degrees & we have 100+ temps in the summer.
-
justinlay; Since j3grizz is in the busineess he might be able to explain better but I will give it a try. The 2 ton recomended for your house might be just enough to keep it cool & the smaller unit would take less energy to run when it is running that the larger 4 ton. But it may run more of the time. The 4 ton unit that is more than recomended will bring the temp down faster but it takes more energy to do it.But it will run less time to do it. This means it willl run less time than the 2 ton . The only way to know for sure would be to have both ,run an electric meter on each of the units & see which one used the least energy. Not really practicle. My bet is the 2 ton would use less energy but wear out faster. The energy use difference wouldn't be that much & replacement sooner might end up being more expensive.
-
Stank_Ho ;If you are going to have a repairman out anyway get him to use his electronic freon detector to find the leak & fix it.If he doesn't have the detector then send him on & call someone that does.

tommie gorman ;You're the one that got it correct. No prize except being the one that got it. I did get the baldy picture from Pauley's official web site some time ago .Last time I looked I couldn't find it there.I think the problem you guys had in identifing her was the baldy picture is balck & white(That's the way I got it) which always makes it harder. She probably is some younger in the baldy pic.I'm not sure how much probly not more tha 4 years. The other things that made it harder was she doesn't actually have the tatoos she does on the show.I think she has some tatoos but not the spider web on her neck like she does on NCIS.Hair makes a big difference. But then it wouldn't have taken any guessing if I had posted the color shots with hair with the baldy pic. Heres another pic of her.I decided to add more than one she looks different in some of these too.

Heres some pics of her I bet someone gets it now.

Hi everyone! Let's get to know each other. Nickname - Avatar- Sig
cholla replied to j3grizz's topic in General Discussion
cholla its simply a variety of cactus. In Spanish it can mean segmented ,jointed, or sometimes head but not like the one on your neck.I used it from the cactus me & a cactus have some simular characteristics if you grab hold your going to get something stuck in you. A character in an old Western movie Branded was named cholla .The movie misspelled it choya the way its correctly pronounced. The avatar & sig are John Wayne related.Simply I'm a western fan & the "Duke " is one of my favorites. Also thanks to a suggestion from ROM-DOS I added the DUKE Dial Up Knowledge Expert. I still have a sig that php made for me that I eventually will use again. Thats about it. -
I thought I would try giving one more clue before I post another picture of her that should let you identify her. Her character on the shows initials are A. S.

deven : tommie gorman Explained a lot of it & I didn't need to check the links.Mexico is part of the North American continent just like Canada is.I think an atlas will back me up on this. However only the United States of America has America in its name that is why we are called Americans & people from Mexico(Estados Unidos de Mexico) are called Mexicans. -

I already posted I would dismantle & close all the foreign US bases but Cuba.I would annex them along with Mexico so I wouldn't have to attack them at the fence they would already be in the USA. The current problem with illegal immigrants is different.I would deport them all but keep a DNA sample if they returned once more I would deport them the second time on the third time that would be three strikes & I would execute them. This would be for any not just illegals from Mexico. Shug; I like Kool Aid too but I don't want any of the Jonestown special mix. I have lived around people of Mexican decent all my life .I currently have a neighbor on each side that fits this category.I guess I'm too politically correct in this but Mexicans are citizens of Mexico. If they are legal either naturalized or born here they are Americans.I would put a stop to an illegal alien women coming over to have a baby just to make the baby an American citizen automatically.I would require that one parent be an americam citizen otherwise the baby would be a citizen of its mothers country. I don't know that I ever had any Korean food.I like Chinese food & some Japanese .they can keep the shushi. -
Her real Initials are P.P.

tommie gorman ;give this below a Google & read about poor Mexico. Mexico's economy is the world's tenth largest. FallowEarth;I'm sure you hear more Canadian news than I do.I don't look for anything like this to happen any time soon.It should have been done in the 1800's it would have been a lot simpler then.I sure Britain would be against it .I'm betting a lot of Canadians would too.Personally I think it would be good to have all of North America one country but not at the expense of going to war with Canada to do it.I use the word expense here in a much broader sense than money. Miles_Smiles ;You mention the heavy oil .this is a theory of mine & I can't support it with actual facts.I think oil can be drilled from every country you just have to go to the right depth.the general population is kept unaware of this .That keeps the money flowing where "The controling Rich "want it to.Diplomatically correct. They get theirs where ever it is.A little conspiracy theory there. -

Heres a couple of links on Jonestown the Kool Aid drinkers.I havn't checked the facts but it indicates that some adults as well as children were forced to drink the poison some even shot. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jonestown_mass_suicide http://www.crimelibrary.com/notorious_murders/mass/jonestown/connections_5.html I googled it & there were 10 pages without looking for more. There are several books so This doesn't even begin to give all the information. How much is true or false is hard to tell.I just thought some might like to read a little about it.
