I think that will work if we can figure out which direction it should flow through the Kanuter valve.

supersteven; Test your speed if it is still slow try my suggestions below. This long topic was on a problem named Lsass.exe which is simular to isass.exe.Their were some indications that it was sometimes a virus & sometimes not.Even that the noncorrupted file was supposed to be there. http://www.testmy.net/forum/index.php?topic=5802.msg55012#msg55012 I would try exiting or closing programs one at a time until I saw the speed improve the last ones being the firewall or AV & definately not both of these at the same time.It might by a good idea to at least temporarily install another AV to use when you exit your regular one.
-
supersteven; I don't have a exact diagnosis but it has to be one of your start up programs that doesn't start up in safe mode. Its probably using a lot of your resourses you just need to figure out which one it is ,If this is a recent problem its probably a program you installed recently.

On a FIOS modem that connects directly to a FIOS cable how does it connect to the PC? I don't know myself .Do they have a PC that has the capability of a optical cable directly from the modem to the PC.Meaning the PC receiving its data completly optically.

Can a PC process data at light speed ? If it can't then slowing down the light speed to 1/3 might allow 3 times the data transmitted over the same cable Each to a different user there by cutting network congestion .

mrkcee : To start with what is your OS?Do you have AV & spyware programs?
-
ROM-DOS; This definately looks like the future technology to go with.I have always thought the light spectrum could be devided into a infinite amount of (colors or frequencies) which ever you prefer & each capable of carring a certain amout of data. I think that lasers manipulated this way may be the treatment for various cancers & diseases .Kind of StarTrek but I was influenced by this watching the transporter beam & their medical scanners.

GraffitiSkys: In this topic I only see 1 testmy test posted & 1 NDT test .I haven't checked your stats. Try checking out the links posted. Edit: I checked your stats you have a total of 4 DL tests all the same day Sept.29,2005.

This router doubled my speed.

I made my prediction here: http://www.testmy.net/forum/index.php?topic=8398.msg81978#msg81978 "I'm going to make the first prediction for 20000 it is Feb. 11, 2006"

GraffitiSkys : Why don't you take a new test instead of posting the same one.Did you do the steps in the sticky VanBuren posted? There is another sticky as well. Read this topic by FallowEarth http://www.testmy.net/forum/index.php?topic=6025.0

shakka: You need to stop flaming members. If you are using something new & most haven't seen or used it don't expect everyone to beleive the results.Below is a link to a cached test done on my regular 56K diap-up modem .Do you really beleive that this is an accurate test?So if your results are correct then

I would contact Microsoft & ask them .There should be tech support for this. If thats not possible then uninstall the SP2 probably in the addremove section of control panel. Then sfc /scannow. Then reinstall SP2 .The reason I think it says its not the version installed is SP2 changed some files If I understand how SFC works it compares the current files with the original files & restores the original files.

Two years of frustration with disconnecting and slow ADSL
cholla replied to mach_one_man's topic in Make it Faster...
Hi mach_one_man; Welcome to the forum.I have dial-up & I hope some with DSL will respond.I still think its a line problem & the signal quality drops at times so you disconnect.Your distance is a problem & it suprises me you get the speed you do at times. When you disconect is it raining? Could there be tree branches touching & moving the line anywhere along the route to the telco?I don't know are there load coils on the line I will bet there are on the phone side of the line these are data killers that are necessary for voice quality.I have 3 on my telephone line & I'm 26800 ft from the telco. Next how old or new is the NID( network interface device) otherwise known as the box on the outside of your house? Is it protected from the weather ? I know its supposed to handle weather but protect it better if you can.Do you have a good ground rod & heavy guage wire to the ground rod from the NID. Here are a few things you can try run your PC from the master socket for a while to see if you still get disconnected.Wire the extension & all inside phone cable with at least cat 5 cable -
Paschendale; ROM-DOS has Xp so he can probably help you the most

The one I posted above was "hostperm.1" .I think you are correct & it is probably a spyware block file in fire fox. Just wanted to ask do others wit FireFox have the same file?
-
lorne;I looked for the Host file (windows ME) what I found was a HOSTS.SAM,&LMHOSTS.SAM these seem to be sample files the HOSTS.SAM looked like your example. I also found a hostperm.1 which was a FireFox Mozilla file this is a copy of it: # HTTP Permission File # This is a generated file! There were a couple that are inside Spybot S&D I'm sure they are supposed to be there. I agree with organ_shifter on the system restore folders .You need to reboot after disabling these. One warning this deletes them & new ones are created when you reenable but if you need a system restore from before you disabled system restore it has been deleted.

When I have this problem I get out my Presto Hotdogger & cook them up.

Khronic: Glad the helped a little I think you should experiment with smaller RWIN values but you may have already done this & found the larger works better for you. This one is what is recommended if you surf or test international sites for in the country 128 is fine. DefaultTTL=255 I'm still not sure about these so I just put in the Cablenut recommended settings. MaxFreeTcbs MaxHashTableSize I've seen this one at 1 & 0 for enabled & disabled not really sure which works best. SynAttackProtect

Khronic;I'm assuming that what you have already is working OK for you so I'm going to work from that. If you want to go smaller with DefaultReceiveWindow &DefaultSendWindow multiply 4096 by an even number. If you want to go smaller with GlobalMaxTcpWindowSize & TcpWindowSize multiply 1460 by an even number. Give these a try: DefaultReceiveWindow=442368 DefaultSendWindow=442368 InitialLargeBufferCount =200 InitialMediumBufferCount=480 InitialSmallBufferCount=640 LargeBufferSize =819200 MediumBufferSize=147456 SmallBufferSize=16384 GlobalMaxTcpWindowSize=449680 TcpWindowSize=449680 DefaultTTL=255 DefaultTOSValue =240

Read the post in the topic below about AFD(Ancillary Function Driver for Winsock). http://www.testmy.net/forum/index.php?topic=9017.msg88743#msg88743 For Windows XP AFD(Ancillary Function Driver for Winsock).(1024 or 4096) Should be the multiplier of these 2: DefaultReceiveWindow DefaultSendWindow MSS should be the multiplier of these 2: GlobalMaxTcpWindowSize TcpWindowSize This is the largest RWIN that Tcpip Analyzer at Speedguide will show scaling on:65781760 At least even scaling to 64240 which is the largest multiple of 1460 under 65535.

ROM-DOS : What does your cablenut show when you select " Retreive current registry values"? Can you use find in your registry to find all the MTU & MSS settings? With the new registry program you are using is the old registry gone? If not could some of its settings be effecting your MTU &MSS?

Randon: I got your e-mail on this.First Have you made sure the mouse is still plugged into the mouse port in the back of your PC or plugged in well.Second do you have another mouse you could try.If you do plug it in & reboot to let your PC detect & install it. If that doesn't work go to System Properties Device Manager Mouse & remove any mouse that is installed there & reboot .This will let Windows reinstall the mouse it detects. If that doesn't fix it post the brand of your mouse & if you have a driver for it that came on floppy or CD. That should get you started .
