  2. helloimtim : I didn't find a lot of information more than was already posted.I did find out a couple of things though. If you let your ISP do the bonding (shotguning) at their server then they (at least some) charge you for each hour the second line is used.So you want to do the kind where you have 2 seperate accounts for dialup with the ISP & do the bonding with your PC.The ISP still has to support this but you are charged for the 2 accounts at the normal monthly cost.Heres another link with some info: http://www.tribuneindia.com/2001/20010101/login/main1.htm

    problem

moni33: Different Computers & motherboards may have a little different way to access the BIOS you need to find your PC's..You shouldn't even need a HD or OS installed to access your BIOS.If you can't access your BIOS then there is a problem with your motherboard.Or maybe your RAM but that is not likely. The BIOS is typically placed on a ROM chip that comes with the computer (it is often called a ROM BIOS). This ensures that the BIOS will always be available and will not be damaged by disk failures. It also makes it possible for a computer to boot itself.

    problem

Hold down Ctrl as soon as you turn the power on .This may gave a keyboard stuck error message & give you the option to go into your BIOS.If it does see what your start up order is make sure your main HD is first unless you normally boot from a floppy or cd. Do you have a start up floppy or EBD?
  5. Here is a link from a post by peepnklown when it was discussed in the topic .There wasn't much information in the topic about actually connecting a shotgun setup.I'll see if I can find some more info helloimtim http://www.56k.com/reports/bonding.shtml
  6. I put in this for search I kept adding to the search till I had this much in the search: dual 56K dial-up modems shotgun or shotgunning. Even with this I got the message below.I know this subject has been in the forum I just wanted the search to find it. Your query was not specific enough. Try using larger words When I put in only modems it had at least 10 pages. Pages: [1] 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 ... 10 So why is just modems more specific to search than dual 56K dial-up modems shotgun or shotgunning?
  7. greg_23805: The dish ground I suggested is just supposed to discharge static electricty off the dish. The transmiter & coax ground don't necessarily do this at least on a "plastic" dish. Also I have read you need to be careful with a DW4000 because it is always "hot" if the transmitter is on.Sounds like you got it working OK .
  8. tdawnaz : I just wanted to post that top ten stats page it seemed to go along with the topic.I didn't want to post my stats with it.I was going to wait for a few more to post so it wouldn't be 2 in a row.But now that you have & a nicer color than I would have used I won't need too.
  9. This is a post by organ shifter that shows some max temps for AMD http://www.testmy.net/forum/index.php?topic=4988.msg45762#msg45762
  10. You might want to read this for setting your RWIN .You can put whaterver setting you want in cablenut then just save it to registry .& reboot. http://www.testmy.net/forum/index.php?topic=8555.msg83659#msg83659
  11. I don't have satellite so this might not be the problem at all.I have read something about grounding the dish itself.I think there is a kit for this more or less its a strip of aluminum foil that glues to the dish with a ground wire attached..

  13. We've discussed this before .Every connection is bandwidth.Dial up is part of that.Personally I prefer to post what ever I need to in the forum without being seperated into a dial -up category. If I need help with something I think it will get more response that way.

    Many Problems

Pacers Fan: First to get to your virtual memory in ME.Control PanelSystemPerformanceVirtual Memory once there select "Let Windows manage my virtual memory settings" If it is not already set there. Reboot. If it is already there then select disable virtual memory & reboot to safe mode. Once in safe mode Defrag & reboot to safe mode. Then run the through scandisk it may hang or give a warning that it has started 10 times do you want to continue to receive this message select no if you get this message.Let the scandisk complete this takes a long time.If it continues to hang you will probably have to go to Advanced & select free lost file fragments. When it finishes Go back to your Virtual Memory & select "Let Windows manage my virtual memory settings" Reboot to normal.

    Many Problems

Pacers Fan : Could it be your virtual memory.First try letting windows manage it unless you already are.If this doesn't help disable virtual memory & go to safe mode then defrag in safe mode. Then select let windows manage virtual memory again.reboot. If that doesn't help Try a thorough scandisk from safe mode This will take several hours so don't do it if you need your PC soon.
  18. I'm not jealous I just want to figure out how to get my dial-up to that speed.& I don't have free dial-up.The free thats available here limits you to 10 hrs a month.Rom-DOS's speeds do seem to be consistent.
  19. ROM-DOS: I've never tried the Avant I read about it some probably a year ago.I already have IE of course & Fire Fox so I haven't decided to add another browser to my OS but if that iss the reason for your speed I would try it.What happens if you test with IE?
  20. ROM-DOS: I agree with the clean lean system. When you are done testing cablenut post a screen shot of the leaned down one.when you did it without settings in cablenut it probably used the windows defaults.
  21. 8 right for me.I got the VGA one right.
  22. ROM-DOS : your speed still looks good there sure is a lot of difference in the 2 cablenut screen shots.Odd that you get good speed both ways.
  23. Thanks VanBuren I understand it better .I need to let the information sink in now. A question why don't you use
  24. fred: I will explain what I can I ask questions on the results myself. running 10s outbound test (client to server) . . . . . 222.46kB/s upload speed running 10s inbound test (server to client) . . . . . . 1.29Mb/s Download speed Client System Details What it detects about your OS Round trip time = 105.56 msec latency for packet to & from the test site. the Packet size = 1460 Bytes your MSS 11 packets retransmitted, 160 duplicate acks received, and 141 SACK blocks received all of these have to do with defragmentation of packets your os can't receive them at the time they are sent so the packet is retransmitted till your os can receive it.The 160 duplicate acks received are part of the notification to the sender that packets weren't received. This connection is receiver limited 8.75% of the time This has to do with your RWIN in your PC. This connection is network limited 91.22% of the time. I not sure about this one but I think it is a combination of network congestion & your connection speed(caps) RFC 1323 Time Stamping: OFF these 2 are set by your Tcp1323Opts yours should be 0 thats RFC 1323 Window Scaling: OFF what the settings show 1 would turn on window scaling,2 would turn on time stamping,3 would turn on both. RFC 2018 Selective Acknowledgment: ON this is sackopts 1 setting ------ Web100 Detailed Analysis ------ Cable modem/DSL/T1 link found. Link set to Full Duplex mode No network congestion discovered. Good network cable(s) found Normal duplex operation found. I think sometimes this detects some of your ISP's equipment thats why it gives strange results. Thats the best I can do.There is a contact email at the test .try that for better explanations.
