These are some old tests I posted I put a link to the topic.the validation links don't work but I think the posts in the topic will validate the tests.I have the same ISP & OS but I can no longer get this kind of speed.My ISP says they don't limit dial-up speed basically because it is self limiting & the phone company limits it.I think someone else with my ISP on dial-up ask my ISP why they couldn't get this speed when they saw the posts & I got a limit put on my account .They just won't admit it.Because it all of the sudden slowed down to what I should be getting or a little faster at the distance I am from the Telco 26800 ft & 3 load coils. Set your clock & see if it stays the battery might have not been making a good connection .In effect you cleaned the contacts by removing & checking it.

Restart it again & see what it says.

You might put inthe correct time& date see if it stays.If it doesn't then check your battery like btw1953 said. on the other if your cd is a cd burner® then you should be able to DL to it like a floppy & use it the same way. You may have to go into your bios & make the cd instead of the HD as your first start up device so it will do the flash from the cd.I have always used a floppy but I think that would work. were you doing something to your bios before you started getting the error message?

Supreme1; You can probably find the lowest price for a router by shopping online even Ebay if your willing to take a chance on a uesd one.

moonlancer: What you did was hit your back button on your browser after the first test & took the same test again.This cached your test.It never hurts to delete your temporary files though.Don't delete cookies or it won't put your test into your stats.I guess we posted at the same time.If the speed your supposed to get is 5Mbps then the test is correct.

donjunior1: I don't even understand what your post is doing here its almost like you put it in the wrong topic.I don't think a XP disk is going to help Randon since her OS has ME .Of course a complete new install of XP might correct the problem.But on older PC's sometimes the new drivers in XP are wrong for the older PC.Some people don't have a home PC to make money so the web host is more than they want to spend .An external HD to store your OS & software is a lot more pratical.Then you can just put your important data back in if you need to . Randon obviously donjunior1 just wanted to put his 2 cents in & wasn't trying to help.

I've sometimes ask so many questions I have been a pain to the seller.It keeps you from buying what you don't want. Its a good test too if the seller doesn't respond well to questions before the sale they don't respond well after the sale either.

Orignal_Cronicus:Cable nut will let you make several settings .It has recomended settings based on your OS & connection type.But you can make your own custom settings file.It will put your custom settings into your registry by using the save to registry button.This is just easier than going into the registry to make the changes.I would DL it & take a look at it to see if you want to use it.You can always delete it or uninstall it if you don't like it.
