  1. tdawnaz : Well those adjusted prices are always skewed toward making it look as close to the same now as then as they can.I was 17in 1970 & still lived with my parents we had a(1) color TV & an old B&W that the color one replaced.People now seem to have one in every room. I know gas was some cheaper in Amarillo than the chart Because so much of it was refined here. The longest gas line I ever waited in here was 5 cars during the shortage & that was when I went at a busy time of day.A lot different than the ones the news showed in California. Some times during the shortage a gas station would have a price 20 or 30 cents a gal. lower that the rest & there would be a longer line I usually just paid the higher price. In 1969 to about 1972 I still ocasionally only paid 17.9cents a gal. during a gas war.The average price here was 29.9 to 39.9 during that time.
  2. wmmc:Check this link It did start to rise sooner than I remember but in the Texas panhandle it was some cheaper We had 2 refineries here the Texaco refinery was inside the city limits .I have purchased gas for as little as 17.9 cents a gal. http://oregonstate.edu/Dept/pol_sci/fac/sahr/gasol.htm
  3. when i got my liscense in 1969 gas was 29.9 cents a gal. for full service regular leaded. That would almost be racing fuel compared to todays gas.Much less if you used super Shell premium.By around 1980 it was 69.9 & leaded gas was being phased out. There were no self service stations when I started driving.
  4. wmmc : I guess I've always been into music at least listening to music.I remember a song called Nut Bush City Limits they played a lot by Tina Turner.
  5. wmmc: The dance floors of this kind were an opaque plexie glass with colored lights underneath that formed different patterns to the music. When they ran them fast it created a strobe effect. But most of them had the bright flashing type strobes overhead aimed at the dance floor that they ran some of the time.I don't think there are many of these around now.
  6. wmmc : In 1980 I was 27 so I wasn't hanging around the skating rink. When I was young enough to hang around the skating rink they played kind of polka music. The year I was 20 they made 18 the legal drinking age in Texas it has since been changed back to 21.That was 1973 I went to some already established Discos to dance. It's where the women were..I really prefered the rock bar that had live bands though. It was not as good a place to pick up women. So I remember when disco was around at least in Amarillo Texas.Btw country western bars probably out numbered discos 4 to 1 here.Have you ever been in a disco with a lighted dance floor that strobed to the music that was probably the best part. But now disco R.I.P.
  7. Me & the coyote like the ACME browser.
  8. It was brought up here too.But its going to come up new from time to time. https://testmy.net/forum/t-2279.msg22320#msg22320
  9. By 1980 rap was starting check out the song sample "Rappers Delight" in the link below: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0000033K4/thestepbystepdis%22%3EThe%20Best%20Of%20SugarHill%20Gang%3A%20Rapper%27s/102-2881332-6339327 There is probably earlier rap I just didn't look for any.Because my music prefference is mostly Rock.
  10. wmmc : Your about a decade off on when disco was around check these links: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Disco http://www.discostepbystep.com/disco_history.htm I'm not a disco fan but I thought you might like to know when it started.
  11. I'm going to get some Jesus Jeans to go with my Jesus Boots.
  12. Buzz : I'm not the right person to help you but welcome to the forum. If you can find Van Buren online he's the cablenut expert.A lot of members can help though.I 've read that the DW4000 is better than the DW6000 though.I have dial-up but my ISP doesn't have foreign techs at least not locally.I haven't talked to one person that had the Indian accent yet.
  13. pitbull481 : 1 of the things I like about Sygate is the back trace feature.
  14. I use Sygate,but I also use spyware blaster.Lavasoft ,AVG.SpybotS&D,Stinger & CW Shredder& some system & registry cleaners.But my system usually tests clean.
  15. cak46: I did some work by PM with Randon on this deleting is part of what we tried.Randon said only 1 video card is listed in display adapters. They also said they were working properly.I think the key to the problem is whatever is causing display to only have the 16 color 640X480 .But I can't figure out what the cause is. Randon if you read this in windows ME it should have the words safe mode in all four corners of your screen if you are in safe mode.If this is the case let us know & we will go from there.
  16. cak46 : The link I put in takes me to the topic like its supposed to here: VanBuren TestMy.net Cablenut settings
  17. netmasta: In the Windows ME it says safe mode in all 4 corners. This is Randon's OS.I went to safe mode on my PC it does only have 16 color 640X480 in display. My PC wouldn't connect to the internet in safe mode >I have dial-up .Will yours connect in safe mode.I would like to know.I'm not sure what type of connection Randon has.
  18. cak46: I tried your link & got the same thing you did .What were you looking for .Do you know the name of the member that started the topic if any of it is still there you might find it that way. Were you looking for this maybe: https://testmy.net/forum/t-1013.msg9346#msg9346
  19. It is usually a good idea to keep your video card updated.Do you have access to another monitor you could try? The monitor is rarely a problem but if you can get one to test & see if your monitor went bad it wouldn't hurt. What puzzles me is that you only have the one setting :"it's stuck on 16 bit, 640 x 480 resolution." I think this is the link to the problem.Any other members have an idea on how to correct this part of the problem.Could it be a corrupt file for the display? How & where would
  20. tdawnaz: Well you should have just said you were worried we would blow something off.We do appreciate your concern. I will take the steps to do it as safely as possible.I haven't even got any of the materials yet & I have already figured out a safe way to ignite the fuel mixture in the canon .Not with the igniter they suggest. The way I will do it at least to test its safety will allow me to do it at a distance. I'm going to put in this warning:PARENTS DO NOT LET YOUR CHILDREN BUILD OR USE A POTATO CANON WITHOUT YOUR SUPERVISION.If your children bring home PVC or metal pipe & fittings find out what they are up to.Monitor the sites they visit on the web.
  21. tdawnaz $ cak46: I would explain the difference in this & a pipe bomb but that would require a lot more on what a pipe bomb is.So I won't Anything assembled wrong can be dangerous. If a child starts bring home PVC pipe & starts building something with it The parents should ask some questions.Basically the potato acts as a saftey valve. It is dangerous if someone is in front of it.There are pneumatis potato cannons as well .they use compressed air.
  22. tdawnaz ;Well they might go to the link from here but the info on the potato cannon is readily available on the web.I doubt most parents would have the site blocked. the potato canon is even available commercially so it is not a pipe bomb.I would never give instructions to build a pipe bomb. The combustable I mentioned would not be available for minors to buy.Fallow Earth mentioned the other 2.Which might be a household item.Black powder is also not sold to minors.Although I was shooting a .22 rifle when I was 6 years old.I guess people taught about guns early have a different perspective.
