Getting screwed at the drive through of Mcdonalds

Hey disturbed: I disagree the French are supposed to be allies to the USA .That means they are traitors when they give classified information to an enemy of the USA .Information they would not have if thet weren't supposed to be an ally. If they want to do whats in their best interest with an enemy of the USA they need to break the alliance first.Otherwise they are guilty of treason & at one time traitors were executed. This is what I would do to French government their just lucky Bush is president . Thats my opinion of the French government I have never meet any French citizens I hear they treat Americans like crap in France .Since I don't plan to go there I don't guess I will find out.I haven't met any here in the USA. 24Kbps:Go to this site & use their tcpip analyzer https://www.speedguide.net/ it will tell you your current MTU &RWIN. Did you find a newer driver or are you just trying modem strings in extra settings?I am not sure on XP but I know 98 & ME have a limit on the # of caracters you can use in modem settings.I think anything after that the modem just ignors.Or won't connect & gives an error message. cak46: I hope SFC did not cause you any problems if your os continues to boot weird you might scanreg /restore from msdos to a reg before you used SFC. Cholla
-
cak46 : yes some of them are updated files you have to determine what is updated & what you need to restore to original. The SFC is a good tool but not as automatic as some. This is good because it lets the user decide. If you don't know I beleive there is a skip or ignor this file option. Use that if unsure & nothing will be changed for that file. If you don't know leave the file as it currently is. Cholla

Hi cak46 : I currently have ME but had 98se before it.I didn't have this problem.I used a tweak to completly remove the arrows on my system I can't remember just how to do it but I will look to see if I have some notes on it.In the mean time Have you done the standard stuff to correct the problem defrag, scandisk(with automatically fix errors checked)both standard & through.Maybe run SFC(system file checker) to look for changed files,Ran your spyware & virus programs. Getting screwed at the drive through of Mcdonalds

Hey all: I'm like CA3LE I shop at walmart as little as possible. But Target is 14 miles across town& Walmart is 1 mile.If Target is owned by a French Company & I intend to check this out I won't be shopping there again. The French gave Sadam classified information of meetings between them & the USA before the war. They thought this would get them better oil deals. So remember tha the next time you go to buy a French product or spend in a French owned store. The French government is a traitorous bastard that's what an ally that sells you out is. Back to healthy eating I follow the low-carb diet most of the time I'm almost a carnivore.I went from 205 to 185 by doing this. Cholla -
Hey Blako:it looks like the smaller window had less delay. This is the info I wanted to see: Default Receive Window (RWIN) = 128480 RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 1 bits (scale factor of 2) Unscaled Receive Window = 64240 It shows your OS scaled 1 time& your unscaled window is 64240 this should be correct. You might try 64240 as your RWIN & turn off scaling like this:Tcp13230ps=0 See if this works better for your OS with no delay. If this causes a slowdown because of the smaller RWIN you can change it back. This would only be slightly smaller than the RWIN you started with 65535 before tweaking. The difference is 64240 is a multiple of your MSS.this is where you should get better performance because thie matches packet size.Less or no resizing & fewer retransmits. Hey Westsider: I don't know if I can help you not enough info. What os do you have ? Do you have Cablenut ?What method did you use to change your RWIN? Cholla
-
Hey Blako: I'm not sure if it is called the multiplier .If set to 0 windows 98&ME Automatically limit the max RWIN to 65535. I'm not sure about windows 2000.If you set it to 1 then the windows will scale. There is also a ms update that is necessary for 98 to do this but it probably isn't nessary for 2000.Did you try the TCP analyzer here: https://www.speedguide.net/ it shold tell you if your scaling is working. In its RWIN area. These are the 3 RWIN settings in Cablenut set your personal ones there to what you want then use the"save to registry "button at the bottom of the Cablenut adjuster. DefaultReceiveWindow .......= GlobalMaxTcpWindowSize = TcpWindowSize...................= your settings here are different I beleive they should both be the same. The TCP analyzer has RWIN suggestions based on your MSS.You might try these to see if they perform better. It should show what your rwin scales to & the number of times it scales.Post again after trying this . Cholla

Hey Blako: I'm not the expert here Van Buren is but he's offline so try this.Go to this site run their TCP Analyzer. It link is on the left of their page about middle.select this it will run automatically. It will tell you what MTU & MSS your OS is using It will tell you what RWIN tou are using & give you a list of multiples of MSS try these to see if it helps.Larger to smaller until you get the smoother operation you are after.I beleive your MTU should be 1500 & MSS 1460.Also I am not sure about windows 2000 but on 98 & ME windows scaling needs to be enabled on RWIN larger than 65535 in Cablenut this would be TCP1323Opts set at 1 . this is the link: https://www.speedguide.net/

Hey 24Kbps: First here are a couple of drivers for your modem atleast the best I could find with the info on your modem.See if they are newer than yours. If they are correct & newer download & install one of them. They should put the correct modem string in the registry for your modem. http://members.driverguide.com/index.php?action=dosearch&qm0=conexant+Smart+HSFi+modem&sm=s http://members.driverguide.com/driver/detail.php?driverid=126132 http://www.conexant.com/support/md_driverdownload.jsp The first two lines in my modem string would have to go directly into the registry to work they would need to replace the ones you have there .They might not work on your modem. If you were putting them in the extra settings in modem you probably have a longer string than the modem can accept.Only the ones under extra settings might work correctly. The reason I put them in was to show you some string settings for my modem & what they were for in my modem. This is the kind of research you need to do for your modem to tweak it with a different string than the driver puts in the registry. Some of my settings probably will do the same thing in your modem if put in the right place. But start out with the newest driver you can find for your modem & see if it works better than the old driver. Hey Blako: I would try it like it is first to see how it worked on your OS.Then if you don't like it try your old RWIN setting to see how it does.DefaultReceiveWindow &GlobalMaxTCPWindowSize are the RWIN settings.Use the CCS file that is closest to your connection. If you have problems Van Buren can do a custom one for you.Vans the real expert on Cablenut. Hey qUicK05: This is a link to your old post Van Buren gave you the Cablenut download there .The correct one for you I bet. https://testmy.net/forum/index.php/topic,2154.msg21329.html#msg21329 Cholla -
Hey Blako : Like Van Buren said Cablenut will make the settings in your registry.I did notice it used a different RWIN than yours.Since the broadband test said yours is in good range maybe you should use that one or try the cablenut to see if it works better & put your old one back if it doesn't.If you still want to find these in your registry Use the registry find It should be in the edit pulldown.Type in DefaultReceiveWindow then select find.Do the same with GlobalMaxTCPWindowSize. I have Windows ME but I bet your 2000 registry has a simular find function. Then you can decide if you need to do anything with them. Cholla

Hi all: I'm 51 it's in my profile.Sill in good shape .6 ft tall 185 to 190 lbs.Not to old to rock.Permanently single.I guess Motley Crue can wear the plaid pants.

Hey 24Kbps : I have already tried a poll simular to yours here .There are only a couple of dial-up members. I hope you will stay to add another dial-up member. You can learn a lot from the members with faster connections. & have some fun too the forum has many things going on that don't even deal with speed or connection. You do need to make your poll more GENERIC since there are so many cable & satellite speeds. The members can post their connection type if they want to. Cholla
