  7. you would want to use the codecs that your Happauge card supports, & those would be the Intervideo Codecs on the list. Usually other codecs that were not bundled with the card won't work, so try the Intervideo for sure. -JxL
  8. i believe you have to run that uplink cable to PORT 1 on the upstairs router , not the WAN port; running it into the WAN port will cause problems such as duplicate ip ranges being used by both routers....it is possible but it would seem easier to just use the 2nd router as a hub/switch on the subnet. -JxL

  11. Says Microsoft: When you perform a manual or scheduled antivirus scan on a Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2)-based computer, you may notice an increase in the number of open handles for the svchost.exe process. This problem occurs because of a handle leak in the Windows Security Center service. A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. To resolve this problem immediately, contact Microsoft Product Support Services to obtain the hotfix. http://support.microsoft.com/contactus/?ws=support sounds like an easy fix...might even try it myself -JxL

  24. i personally run zero virtual memory (pagefile size) as i was having tons of kernel inpage errors/BSOD; no doubt caused by something other than the pagefile (hardware conflicts/cheap RAM i suspect) but reducing the level to zero fixed this problem...until i find the real cause of the kernel inpage errors. -JxL
