Signal Strength Comparison By Satellite
ghostmaster replied to JoeOtto's topic in HughesNet (DIRECWAY)
AMC9 1370MHz RSL: 85-90 XPOL: 68 -
Well, on the Pro plan, you are promised up to 1.0Mbps. You are getting about 1.2. You are getting what you pay for. Try using the 579KB file. You will see speeds like that if you get an initial burst.
-
I pray for the Panthers VS. Steelers.....
-
because they are burst speeds coming from the small test files....
-
Carolina still gets no respect......tisk tisk.......
-
Not if the Panthers keep playin like they have the last 2 games....

Not anymore, now they are pointing to IA8 1330. -
pings an Dway are worse than dial up. with a 7000 system, the pings are around 700 - 800ms, when the system is working properly. Look into Wild Blue, they may be better for you. Either way, with any satellite system, you won't be able to play shooters, or any twitch games, unless the point of the game is to lag and die. Really depends on what Sat you are pointed at. 256k 2/3 seems pretty comparable to 4/5 if you can get it. Just upload are slightly lower. Im on AMC9 1370 on the Pro plan w/out static. My is always 4/5. -

Are they like that all the time? Those speeds look like what a lot fo people are getting at night due to some problem on Dway's end. Have you done the same speeds test during the day? -

Yeah, this means you won't be effected by rain and bad weather as much....the more signal the better.... It doesn't really give you more speed, but it does give more stability..... -

40kbs on a 7000 Pro system on 4000 satellite HELP!
ghostmaster replied to Crispy Niggets's topic in DW7000 Information
Not oversold, unprepared. I still think the bottleneck is at the NOC. If it were because of oversold bandwidth, speeds would have been gradually been decreasing every night while they kept overselling. This problem just started happening suddenly. One night every thing was great, and then BAM, 300k the next night.... Not sayin im right, but thats just my theory... -
Horrible Direcway (6000) speeds for me, too!
ghostmaster replied to phrankl's topic in DW6000 Information
The longitude is what satellite you are on. Each satellite has a number of different transponders. Click here for more info: http://www.dslreports.com/faq/2058/ -
try updating java....doesn't limewire depend on java?

40kbs on a 7000 Pro system on 4000 satellite HELP!
ghostmaster replied to Crispy Niggets's topic in DW7000 Information
You are on the infamous satmex 5. My recommendation is try to get repointed, or try to get on transponder 1270. People seem to not have any problems on that one. I would still recommend doing the test tomorrow during the day 8:00am to 3:00pm to see how it runs then. There is a bottleneck problem at night, and speeds are slow during this time. (4:00pm to midnight) -
I think each transponder is like it's own engine, so filling up one won't hurt any others. I say let em go to IA8 if it will help my speeds. (stomps away with arms crossed in a selfish manner)
