No, people use old P3 computers all the time on Dway, however, if you have a machine loaded with spyware, it won't perform well at all.....

It is a lot better when they have the systems running correctly. And that really depends on what satellite you are on. Im on AMC9(83W). My speeds went from 1000/64 to 1066/200. Ping times definately improved from an average of 1100ms to 715ms..which translates to faster browsing and faster secure sites...

Ive tried almost every direcway tweak I could find...and none of them did a thing... They used to work on the 4000, but the 6000 and 7000 self hosted systems are a totally different monster....

They may very well not, but that doesn't give them the right to do it....and if you're comfortable with the gov listening in on you, move to China, im sure you'd change your mind.....

It doesn't set the proxy anymore...basically it just configures the Max Connections in IE.......

Yeah modding the Xbox was fine. But preloading it with pirated games was definately illegal....

They probably tell you to put in the best transponder when registering, to reduce any registration problems...some transonders give you a better signal or what not than others too.....I had 76 max on 1390 on AMC9, and they changed me to 1370 it jumped to 89.

You can register on ANY satellite and transponder you want to. However, when your modem "downloads configuration paramters", it will put you on what ever one you are assigned to. The only way to switch transponders is to have them do it for you....

Decade Did they put you on the same transponder when you "upgraded"? For some reason or another, im starting to suspect there really was something wrong with your modem, or that the firmware on it was corrupted... Also, did they have you manually decommission the modem? By that, I mean did they have you telnet into the modem on port 1953 and run a "rf" command? They had to do that to mine one time because the tech support guy couldn't make my modem restart remotely. The first time I tried to commission my modem when I upgraded, I kept getting page cannot be found errors on the darn registration pages! Anyways, I hope your speeds stay up to par now.....

Ground Control is a VAR for direcway, and I suspect those rates are not valid for Direcway Direct customers..

Yep, Thats A standard upload for me. Depends really on what Sat you end up on, and how good your setup is. Browsing, esp secure sites has improved greatly!

I would make sure that the tech comes back out lol... Another thing to make sure of, is that the dish is peaked for both horizontal transmit and recieve, since the transponder you are on requires it... Also...post your info at this site, lots of experts here http://www.dslreports.com/forum/sat

hmm..you're on AMC3, which is one of the better satellites.

There is another Software update coming the is "suppose" to fix the rest of the sporadic speed problems....give it a few days and hopefully things will improve for you.. the current firmware for most people should be
