  1. Am I the only one left who doesnt like firefox? I like the live idea. I think they are doing it compete with Citrix Metaframe, which I find dreadfully complex at times. I dont like the idea of replacing localized applications either. BTW Opera is great.
  2. I agree. For the advanced user, I dont really think SP2 is necessary, as long as you can still get the patches. However, its only a matter of time before Microsoft requires SP2 to get Updates. I hate it when they do that.
  3. All you need is a firewall??

  7. Also, when you test uploads with Satellite, use the 579KB file.
  8. No, that is just the overview of it, not the FAP policy. http://fairaccess.direcway.com/
  9. Short answer: Dial-UP Never get satellite for gaming. If you get it, get it for faster browsing and downloads.

right click my computer, go to manage. Click local users and groups. Click on groups and remote desktop users. Add the users you want to be able to connect to the clients to the group. This is on the client machines.

Make sure that you have put the right users in the "remote desktop users" group on the clients.

  16. LoL I saw the movie over the weekend, I think it was pretty good. They left it open for a sequel. Though I think they pretty much made up a new story for it. The first person scene was pretty wicked though. Anyone else see it?
  17. Working in workstation support helps teach you to give the simplest answer. and if you havnt already...uninstall the direcway software from your host machine. you wont need it anymore, as the DW6000 IS the host.
  18. connect the 6000 to the wan port on the router, and connect everything else to the switch ports on the router. Should be plug in play piece of cake.
  19. A professor of mine wrote an adaptive firewall program for his SSH box that will detect a brute force attack and block the attacking IP address. I think he distributes it through GPL.
  20. I noticed the same thing, sounds like maybe a permissions setting? Like the "system" user cant close the program? I dunno, im not a programmer.
  21. Are you using XP professional? If so, just enable remote desktop with stripped down options. Works great for me and my office. I think PCanywhere uses citrix ICA? or maybe a comparable protocol? If so, it should work about the same. Just tune down some of the options and should work great! As far as upgrades to the 7000 are concerned, they have to get the other satellites ready for the 7000 first. They are allowing a free upgrade to some of the beta testers now so I would look for it in the coming months. *Also, if you are using a router, make sure port 3389 is forwarded for RDP if you use that. Im not sure what port PCAnywhere uses.
  22. Its not just the fact that the IP isnt static, it's a NAT address assigned to your modem by the NOC router. So not only is it dynamic, its not routable. That's where the static IP comes in. You get a full public address. It really makes everything work so much better when you upgrade to professional. Not to mention that you get US based support as opposed to "my name is safara juhaghdi, but you can call me Alex" support.
  23. yes you need a static IP. can it be done? yes and no.
