If you have more recent test results please post. Yes.....Oct. 31 the 7.5 version was released by AVG . note: my McAfee Security is a free 36month free version so it actually has more features and not costing me a dime!

McAfee is near the top...I am currently using it with no major issues, but don't hear many people liking it either?

Would I switch?......I would be camped out at the Frontier office waiting for the next service man to arrive ! Regardless of the download speed/ burst speeds up or down on satellite, the pings are 700-3000ms always. Pings on the DSL should be less than 200ms, so even if you don't play online games or do online auctions....this means you don't have that delay when clicking on a website with DSL. Have you looked in the Dell Outlet for a refurb? I purchased a XPS140 last year scratch & dent....about half price. Also got my mother an E510 at the same time.... both refurbs , both same as new Sometimes they have some real nice deals in the Outlet....other times (no systems found). If you want more bang for your buck and have the time....

Yes I was impressed when they first fired it up......now after seeing the problems etc, don't see any improvement over Hughes.

I had the same deal with this company QCOL / SC-TV poor performance and sky high prices! Speeds of service available are: *64K w/1-email $25.00/month 128K w/2-emails $45.00/month 256K w/3-emails $65.00/month 512K w/4-emails $95.00/month Faster speeds available and will be priced according to usage, etc. *Not much faster than dial-up Keep in mind the above prices are for surfing only....add another $33 for basic analog TV to watch! Worst part was most channels of the TV side where fuzzy, and the internet was out or not working right most of the time. - customer service always told me the problem was with my PC....its funny that same desktop still running 2yrs later getting the same connection speeds as my new laptop with Hughes. Trust me I dont like paying Hughes Network prices either, but its better than dial up (26k) and (128k cable that dont work)

First thing you need when dealing with Hughes customer service is a wireless speaker phone or headset for your home phone system........as you will be on hold for a long long time! If you want Hughes to call you and get directly to a support person who can actually talk to NOC... file a calim with the BBB

Hey whats wrong the McAfee virus? I am currently using version 11.1 on my laptop.....get the same speed test results as my desktop using AVG ? The McAfee came with my laptop....cant claim this version has any slowdowns for me anyway.

Dont look for much from Hughes unless your scores are consistently below 200 down.....and expect them to blame the problem on the router. So try your speed test directly connected the modem.

My download speeds are very close regardless of the file size 10,20,50 or 100MB unless its a really small one....

not sure what this would have to do with FAP or satellite connection speeds, and if he has a home account FAP at 175 would not waste it on a test file of 125MB .....will take 12hours or more for FAP to lift * in general sat users do not have DSL available....thats why we are using a sat
