  1. Anyone know how to disable "cleartype" in outlook express? This is my only complaint with the beta 3
  2. I have been using a Linksys with a dynamic IP with no problems.....also have great wireless range as well. The Linksys can in a few mins be set up as a switch too.
  3. not good.....check your signal, rate code, unless there is severe weather failed should be much lower. Your upload speed should also be higher too.
  4. Lets think about this for a bit....if Direcway customers could all get DSL good chance they would not be an ISP today? My guess is 99.9999% of Dway users can not get DSL or anyother service other than satellite.......here I thought everybody already knew that?
  5. I had the exact same problem......issue was fixed with a phone call Another NOC problem....signal good, transmitter grounded, x-pol good......still had 30-50% failed transmissions after getting the rate code changed to a 4/5 , back to less than 1% as normal
  6. Looks like the new Hughes net is going to up the storage limit on email as well as allow emailing of files up to 25MB..... must be drinking heavily?
  7. did you run any pings?......mine usually run anywhere from 625-3000ms typical 700-900ms never did any online gaming as web browsing to be a chore at times.
  8. I'm sure if thats the case (everyone buy new equipment).......its most likely in the contract. This doesn't sound right......only thing I have read is the one way systems are no longer supported. -- from what other sites are saying no more DW4000's will be commissioned.....nothing about the dish or the current customers already using the 4000's.
  9. Thought the Xplornet Sat is the same service as Wildblue for Canada?
  10. Two things amaze me with this company.... --I'm surprised any of our systems work at all anytime.....if you have dealt with the tech support a few times, it tends to make you wonder. --If any other company sells all out problems Ford, Chevy, Cosco ....you name it the recalls are in full force, its all over the media front page as well. Direcway seems to have continuous problems but never forced by the government, FCC, BBB to do anything in return for the customer at all. Look at DirecTv they have been paying some fines and settlements....as far as I am concerned Direcway is terrible compared to DirecTv by all aspects.
  11. I am pointed at H-1 but have seen several test below 300 today.....?
  12. I dont think the speeds much differ with the pro account, you may see the upload go to 200 depending, but the pro account does give you a bigger FAP bucket so instead of 169 MB/4hours you now get 350 MB/4hrs. Which is still not large enough bucket for some but gives you some freedom of watching video clips etc... its by far not DSL but is a notch better than 26.4K dial up connection.
  13. Same way here BF my first speed test is always 1200+ , then run the second test is always under 1070 etc....this speed also matches what I get in real download transfer rates such as fileburst or updating programs and such. Not sure if I cleared the cache each time if it shows 1200+ or not?
  14. here is the current prices for DirecTv....total choice plus is 49.99 with locals according to my bill and the web page. directv
  15. oh yes direcTv does the same thing...its only new customers get the deals. I bet if you call and tell them you are going to cancel out because of that price......they will most likely reduce your bill? Would be worth the phone call to save a few bucks? DirecTv reduce my bill somewhat...told them I was leaving for Dish, still not 19.99 month, hey 5 bucks is 5bucks right? I remember when hughes dish hit the market at around 800 bucks for equipment/19.99 for total choice dual system was around 1400. Now the systems are free for the most part!
  16. pretty sure Dish offers this to a new signer for 19.99 fixed price ! Been on DirecTv for awhile...no cheaper packages, all over $42 (prices again went up), been thinking of switching to Dish.Dish also offers the 2nd box at no montly cost according to the promo flyer, DirecTv charges me 4.99 . Dont think I need 180 chanels anyway?
  17. Wow .... I must have got lucky with my v.5 or wireless card as 100ft radius gets excellent signal, outdoors can go 200ft radius with very good signal 300+ ft low/drops out spotty coverage. The above is with a internal pro wireless card, the second laptop using an external Motorola card does not get the same coverage, not even close. I was amazed at the difference prior to testing thought for sure the external card would have surpassed the internal card easily?
  18. For example, when this happens changing settings on your computer will not be the correct answer...... no doubt this will be a nightmare
  19. The 7000 is supposed to have the LAN settings empty (not use the proxy as the 6000) ....the "page can not be displayed" and "satellite link error" is a NOC problem not a settings issue. -- the problem occured quite often yesterday morning....have not seen it today. do still have high error rate/transmissions. as usual with most DirecWay problems....very little if anything to do with user end.
  20. My system run less than 1% failed transmissons for over a month, now all of a sudden back to to above 20% errors..... -weather clear/ my site and NOC -83 signal -75 xpol
  21. go to fileburst download a 20MB sample, post a screen shot when its about half way or more finished...
  22. browsing speed to me is no different than the 6000.....have seen pings anywhere 625-3000 (typical ping is 725-1000) -- sure wish I had signed up for WB instead (better speeds, cheaper equipment/install costs)
  23. DO it right, do it yourself need a 2 3/8" pole.......dig down depending on where you live, here the frost line is 24" deep. Myself dug to around 36" x 36" hole but I get free crete. Then drill a few holes 1/2" or bigger near the bottom of the pipe to assure the concrete flows in to prevent the pipe from turning.(also good idea to fill pipe up, keep 2" or more below the top) Then level up the pipe as precise as you can get.....let the crete dry for a day or so depending on temp. Depending on the hole size 3-5 bags of sack crete will be an over kill for the job. -- keep crete stiff for easy leveling (other than filling the pipe) -- if your not going to set the pole deep enough it will move with ground freezing and thawing -- small skimpy hole, don't waste your time. (I can picture an installer digging a hole 6" deep with 1 bag of sack crete.....too me this would not be worth a dime and cost you the time of redoing the entire job as well as the re-point if you cant do it yourself.)
  24. This sounds like a friend of mine who has the same issue with a cell phone provider.....one phone on the plan, the phone can be left at my house for three days with the battery removed and still accumulate peak minute usage! This has cost hundreds of dollars in fees....company engineers allow system is working fine. just another joke people pay to play.
  25. lets see an upload test with a larger file size
