  1. Some Comcast users have been experiencing slower than normal speeds to testmy.net's main server. I've contacted my host about this multiple times but have finally got a response from Comcast directly about the issue. Just because you're not near the cities mentioned doesn't necessarily mean that you can count yourself out from this being an issue. Often times when major backbones go down for a provider it will cause network traffic to be congested along the remaining trunks. If you're on Comcast ... or your provider has peering with Comcast ... and you're seeing slower than normal speeds at testmy.net, chances are this is why. - CA3LE
  2. I like threaded discussion better too. But I think there is a percentage of people here that would like somewhere to just BS. Also, it could be helpful for live troubleshooting. I dunno yet :-/

  4. Damn monopolies! The cable market in Phoenix hasn't seen prices that low since about 2002... but then again your speeds look like Cox's speeds back in 2002. So at least Bevcomm's price point seems right on the money. Be thankful that your not in such a remote location to where you'd have to get dreaded satellite. -- those poor guys
  5. Is it only the internet classes doing this? Have you tried other browsers... maybe their website is using a plugin that's screwy on her laptop. That IS a weird one for sure

  8. $89.95 per month. Right now it's $29.95 for the first three months ($19.95 for three months if you bundle with phone). One downside to this package is that Cox forces you to get a professional install. They were very adimate about that. They want to make sure the signal levels are just right apparently. So that added $49.95. I got a Motorola Surfboard 6120 DOCSIS 3.0 cable modem for $100 from best buy. It definitely doesn't hurt any
  9. Well, I just got into my new place. Qwest.net didn't have adequate service in my area for my needs so I switched back to Cox Communications. Glad I did... sorry if you don't have crazy fast internet and if this post is like salt in your wounds... I just wanted to share it for anyone thinking of getting Cox 50/5 Extreme, it's SICK and as advertised. Goodbye Qwest.net :::.. 10. Some Comcast users aren't getting the best route to the server right now. My host is communicating with the peering for Comcast and this issue should be resolved soon. I take issues like that very seriously. This isn't all Comcast users however. I just got back from Nashville and used a Comcast connection so I saw first hand that what I was told was resolved isn't for everyone. I sent my host an ultimatum... either provide me (and more importantly my users) with the routes and service that I've come to expect or I'm taking my business elsewhere. So one way or another this issue will be resolved ASAP. Thanks for your input, I really appreciate it. - CA3LE
  11. Even more reason to test
  12. Have you tried their online support http://myaccount.onelinkpr.net/ ? Sometimes when you're having problems and you call only to get 'ALL CIRCUITS BUSY' --- that usually means your provider may have a very large outage. You can normally breath easy and give it some time and the problem will be resolved. When they get a large influx of calls that means that they usually are very aware of the problem. Good luck, - CA3LE

The traceroute program needed to be rebuilt so I disabled it for now. There is also server configuration that needs to be done on this new server to be able to do that. Much of the security I have on the server is blocking that stuff. I'll get to it as soon as my priority list gets smaller. I may even add a logged traceroute to the automatic test... we'll see.

  21. Once the forums get busy again I'll open the chatroom back up. A ventrillo chat is a cool idea too... apparently my users set their own up or something before, I don't think I ever knew about it... lol.
  22. Well, good to hear that you're back to normal. Comcast may have had some congestion that they cleared up... who knows now, lol.
