From what you've shown me so far... I doubt it's your router. Can you give our users some more detailed information about your system, (OS info, relevant hardware/software info... etc). Also, what city are you located in... and what is your speed supposed to be? While we're working this out, leave your router out of the equation still... makes it easier the more direct the connection is. But note that your network may not be as secure without the router in place. Also, if you have another computer to test on... give it a try, direct to the modem and post your speeds. We'll track it down -- need to work backwards and figure out what it isn't first. - CA3LE

I'm still working on the additional servers guys... my schedule with that fell behind because of an emergency root canal I had to get. First, I was in pain... went to the dentist... had to get a referral to an Endodontist... of course by then it was the weekend. Finally got in Wednesday... NOW I have to go back to my primary Dentist to get my permanent filling. It's a referral racket! My last dentist did everything... but now I'm having to get some of his work redone. So I guess having broad knowledge isn't always a good thing. I'm going to stick with specialists from now on, I seriously didn't feel a thing. The other root canals I've had were torturous! I'm going to check again tomorrow and see if this host I've been trying to get servers with has anything in stock yet. They keep selling out before I can grab anything. -- wish me luck!

Try first connecting your modem straight to the computer without the router, once online re-test. Let's first establish if the router is definitely the problem... the best way to do that is to take it out of the equation. -D

Thank you

If you look at member profiles there is now a new button for pulling that members stats in the database. It can also be noted that the system is setup to log and pull stats based on your display name now, not your login ID. Enjoy! - CA3LE

Tell ya what.. this time, now that I have a dentist I like, after all the work is done that I need done... I won't be missing another appointment. I'm going to mark this resolved and close the topic.

... Okay, it's good now. For a minute there it was logging all the upload results, including the forwarded tests... it's obviously only supposed to log the final results. When it comes to programming, you change one thing and it can have effect on other things... those things can then have effect on other things. As a programmer you really have to try to think of all the consequences of every action you take far in advance. It can be quite maddening at times. Please let me know if it's either working fine now or if you're still seeing any problems... so I can mark this ticket resolved. - Damon

There actually was was a note made to the scheduled test page regarding this. The problem was fixed last night with the combined test (what the scheduled test relies on) Although, in researching the problem for you I did catch a couple of other bugs with the the scheduled test related to these changes that were causing issues. Here's my results from a test I just ran with the combined test. (the com :::.. testmy.net test results ..::: Download Connection is:: 28033 Kbps about 28.03 Mbps (tested with 25600 kB) Download Speed is:: 3422 kB/s or 3.4 MB/s Upload Connection is:: 5996 Kbps about 6 Mbps (tested with 5983 kB) Upload Speed is:: 732 kB/s Tested From:: https://testmy.net (Dallas, TX USA) Test Time:: 2010-09-16 13:26:29 GMT D-Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/db/WELZSV20Q U-Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/db/NI8X7RWJH User Agent:: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10_6_4; en-US) AppleWebKit/534.3 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/6.0.472.55 Safari/534.3 [!] I also ran a scheduled test and results are outputting fine for me now. Along with normal logging the way it should be. This was a pretty major change that caused this to happen. I actually got a root canal yesterday and the days prior I wasn't really on the top of my game because of all the pain I was in. This should be 100% fixed now. Please run a combined test or scheduled test and let me know that it's working fine for you now. Also, thank you for reporting this. This site is under constant development and I really rely on input from my awesome users like you. Sometimes I can miss things, no matter how much I test the system... especially given the amount of tooth pain I was in prior to my root canal. Actually one more minute... a little logging issue.

Closest back to back / Most consistent speed

Jesus, I don't think so. Well, at least I know my server is running good -
I'll give that a try. I just love filezilla. It does exactly what I need it to do. One thing that bugs me however, at least on Mac, is if you click the filename wrong it thinks you want to rename it. Bugs the shit out of me. I'll give that a try when I get a chance.

How do your uploads look when testing here?
-
Don't you like how everyone points fingers at the other guy... always First of all, WOW on your system specs very nice. What ftp client are yo using. Have you thought that maybe the problem lies there? I personally use Filezilla for all of my ftp client needs and have had no problems. Also, do you have problems uploading with any other protocol besides ftp?

Thanks, I appreciate it.

Thank you for reporting that. I changed some things around last night... and there was a couple lines of that script that I missed. This is resolved now. In the future could you please report things like this to the "Bug Reporting" section. There are links on the test pages and home page to it. Or here >> https://testmy.net/ipb/forum/150-v109-bug-reporting/ Again, thank you for reporting that. Without members like you this wouldn't be possible. - Damon

Your traceroute is clean, hop 11 is supposed to look like that by the way... The Planet told me that it's only an issue is the subsequent hops fail. A while back I had my host look into YOUR trace specifically. They said no packet loss and everything looked good. I don't know what to tell you other than sit tight... I have a bunch more servers coming online by the end of the month :-/ It has nothing to do with my end though... your host must not have very good peering to Houston. But then again you had problems on your last host. testmy.net is different... stop comparing our scores to other sites... it's not always that easy. ... One thing to also understand is that the test method here is COMPLETELY different than anywhere else. Because of that method you can sometimes find other problems with your computer that aren't even necessarily related to your internet. For instance, my girlfriends old macbook could only pull about 6Mbps... I changed her hard drive out for a faster one and BAM now she maxes out my connection. You can't always compare the scores here with scores you get at other places... this site is totally different. I can tell you this much. I tested at the same time as you just now and pulled 37Mbps ... AND you have a clean route from what I see. You seriously might want to look into other issues you may have dude. - CA3LE

I haven't used the others but after a little research those links are approved for posting here. I can vouch for SpeedGuide.net's TCP optimizer though. That program is especially good for pre-Windows 7 machines. Actually, I run it on every computer that I install older versions of Windows on. I haven't emailed the owner of SpeedGuide for years but we've both been linking to each other since the beginning. - they have my respect.

Version 10.9 final released today. I have been programming non-stop since I put v10.8 out. I'm confident enough with this new version to finally stamp it. 9 days later than expected, but I still had things that needed addressing before I could call it a new version. I work on the site live, on a daily basis so those of you that are here often may not notice too many changes. It's kinda like when you live with someone and they get all fat... but you don't notice because you see them every day . (you have to admit, that's a funny analogy). Most software developers prefer to work offline and release everything at once. I've always liked to work on the site live. Sometimes you'll catch an error during the late hours when I'm really implementing stuff... personally, programming like that pushes me to make less mistakes... it's made me better at what I do. If I mess up, then it effects my users and I DON'T want that. So working that way has pushed me to make less mistakes. It's not a normal way of doing things but it's how I work, so shut up! There has been 400 to 500 additional hours of programming and administrative work that has been put in since 10.8 was released >40 days ago. Remember, I'm only one person too... but I've literally been working 7 days a week to work towards v11. Most of the work has been put towards optimization of the code. At this point nearly 90% of the code behind the site has been rewritten from the ground up. There are also functionality and design changes as well. But, as I said... testmy.net is created by one person, not a development team. I can waste my time writing change logs or I can let my users figure out what's changed and put my efforts towards something more useful. Hope you all enjoy it, more to come. I think for you it may be the right way to go. I too haven't been impressed with Zune... I also agree about the iTunes deal. They really need to make it more open. The ipod is definitely too proprietary. Much of Apples proprietary nature no longer bothers me, Apple's hardware and software really are a perfect match and I understand why they do what they do... but when it comes to the ipod...... give me a break Apple
