First, thank you for the kind words k2000day. Secondly, as tdawnaz said... read the page I wrote about the legitimacy of our tests (link again is https://testmy.net/legit-speed-test.php'>https://testmy.net/legit-speed-test.php). I can't speak on behalf of any other site out there. I also don't like to talk negatively about my competition. But I can tell you this, I've heard countless times about the results at that site being way off... either too high or too low. People get confused about the inconsistency with the results. One of the reasons I no longer allow linking to them, and if you read the legitimacy page you'll understand better why. I don't know the programming behind their site... and I don't want to know the programming behind their site. I wouldn't think that they would falsely inflate results like that... but really who knows. What I do know is that the tests here use a time tested method that's been developed over a long time. And they use no third party apps that may throw off results. I employ very unbiased methods. I tell my users the truth based on the numbers. Many of them still do. It's just that STdN is a more popular site that TMN now. The people 'in the know' still come here In fact, someone I was talking to the other day was telling me how they just got installed with Cox.net and they told me how the tech who installed them went here as soon as the connection was live. They also have ways to run speed tests and QOS tests directly from their meters these days... but that only tells them that the modem into their network is okay. There is a billion other factors that could cause problems that kind of direct test wouldn't see. If anything... this site makes them look good. As long as the user is actually getting what they're paying for. :::.. testmy.net test results ..::: Download Connection is:: 52116 Kbps about 52.12 Mbps (tested with 51200 kB) Download Speed is:: 6362 kB/s or 6.4 MB/s Upload Connection is:: 4915 Kbps about 4.9 Mbps (tested with 5983 kB) Upload Speed is:: 600 kB/s Tested From:: https://testmy.net (Dallas, TX USA) Test Time:: 2010-10-13 11:43:16 GMT D-Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/db/CKSE7MQP9 U-Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/db/ZO1LXRCMU User Agent:: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10.6; en-US; rv:1.9.2.10) Gecko/20100914 Firefox/3.6.10 [!]

Welcome to the site! I just wanted to let you know that I'm working on getting test servers in the UK as well as other locations. However, I want to finish my site restructure before I get into that. The numbers you get here are still of use to you. My test server is setup in a way that enables it to push data over distance better than most servers. If you configure your end correctly while using testmy.net as your test bench you can see a huge increase in transfer speeds to the US and other locals that are far from you. I've seen people in the past 2X, 3X, 5X their connection speeds over seas by tweaking their settings. Soon I'll be writing a updated tweaking guide that covers many of the new Operating Systems but for now if you'd like to look at a member submitted tweaking solution here are the files as submitted by VanBuren. cablenut408.zip VanBurens_cablenut_settings_all_versions.zip You may also want to do a search here of all forums for "cablenut" or something along those lines. Trust me though... distance doesn't always have to screw up your speeds. Especially with a pipe like yours. Vanburen for instance pulled like 16 Mbps all the way to Sweden, I'm pretty sure that he only had like a 20 Mbps package or something... although we can't really ask him anymore since he hasn't been an active member of the site for a few years now Anyways, good luck... and if you do figure out how to pull more from your connection over distance please post some instructions for other testmy.net users who are in your situation to read. - CA3LE

I thought you were The King of Winnebago, MN?!?!

First off, what is the upload speed that your supposed to have... what package do you pay for. We'll go from there.

Some Comcast users have been experiencing slower than normal speeds to testmy.net's main server. I've contacted my host about this multiple times but have finally got a response from Comcast directly about the issue. Just because you're not near the cities mentioned doesn't necessarily mean that you can count yourself out from this being an issue. Often times when major backbones go down for a provider it will cause network traffic to be congested along the remaining trunks. If you're on Comcast ... or your provider has peering with Comcast ... and you're seeing slower than normal speeds at testmy.net, chances are this is why. - CA3LE

I like threaded discussion better too. But I think there is a percentage of people here that would like somewhere to just BS. Also, it could be helpful for live troubleshooting. I dunno yet :-/

Thanks bigw -- welcome back yourself

Damn monopolies! The cable market in Phoenix hasn't seen prices that low since about 2002... but then again your speeds look like Cox's speeds back in 2002. So at least Bevcomm's price point seems right on the money. Be thankful that your not in such a remote location to where you'd have to get dreaded satellite. -- those poor guys

Is it only the internet classes doing this? Have you tried other browsers... maybe their website is using a plugin that's screwy on her laptop. That IS a weird one for sure

$89.95 per month. Right now it's $29.95 for the first three months ($19.95 for three months if you bundle with phone). One downside to this package is that Cox forces you to get a professional install. They were very adimate about that. They want to make sure the signal levels are just right apparently. So that added $49.95. I got a Motorola Surfboard 6120 DOCSIS 3.0 cable modem for $100 from best buy. It definitely doesn't hurt any

Well, I just got into my new place. Qwest.net didn't have adequate service in my area for my needs so I switched back to Cox Communications. Glad I did... sorry if you don't have crazy fast internet and if this post is like salt in your wounds... I just wanted to share it for anyone thinking of getting Cox 50/5 Extreme, it's SICK and as advertised. Goodbye Qwest.net :::.. Some Comcast users aren't getting the best route to the server right now. My host is communicating with the peering for Comcast and this issue should be resolved soon. It's not the server though... or the tests in general. Look at the speed I just pulled on Cox 50/5 :::.. I take issues like that very seriously. This isn't all Comcast users however. I just got back from Nashville and used a Comcast connection so I saw first hand that what I was told was resolved isn't for everyone. I sent my host an ultimatum... either provide me (and more importantly my users) with the routes and service that I've come to expect or I'm taking my business elsewhere. So one way or another this issue will be resolved ASAP. Thanks for your input, I really appreciate it. - CA3LE

Can Anyone Give Me Onelinkpr Customer Services Email Address?
CA3LE replied to MariaFadli's topic in New Members
Have you tried their online support http://myaccount.onelinkpr.net/ ? Sometimes when you're having problems and you call only to get 'ALL CIRCUITS BUSY' --- that usually means your provider may have a very large outage. You can normally breath easy and give it some time and the problem will be resolved. When they get a large influx of calls that means that they usually are very aware of the problem. Good luck, - CA3LE -

Vatican City Antarctica is crazy because at any given time there are like >10 scientists there... but Vatican city... is the Pope checkin' his connection.
