  1. Yeah, I just got done testing and it worked fine for me. ... that actually was a timeout error. Somehow a couple of php configuration settings got reset to default, a ghost in the server.. Gremlins ... I dunno. But I fixed it. This explains the exhausted allocation errors I've been seeing in my logs... I'm talking about max_execution_time in php.ini by the way... Although, I'm surprised you're hitting that... you should be finishing well before that execution limit. ... by the way.. I'm jealous for once. I want that connection!
  2. Just make sure you take that down before testing. It's probably caching or something, I really don't know... I'll install it when I get a chance and see what's up. I may have to contact them to get my site whitelisted.... I've had to do this with numerous AV software vendors.
  3. I'm going to install that distro on a virtual machine and see what I see... and get back with you.
  4. How long did it take to download? Try this one, with a zip extension >> 100MB.zip -- don't open it, it's nothing... just note how fast it downloads. That bug with the xpress test should be fixed, thanks for pointing that out. ... it looks like you have some kind of caching going on, make sure that you don't have any internet accelerators or internet security programs running. Clear cache and cookies and try again. I'd really like to know what's causing this so I can try to detect it's presence before the test. -D
  5. I test in Firefox under Linux all the time and haven't seen this. Which distro are you using? What's up with that crazy connection you've got too... insane fast. You should post a video if you have the ability, I'd like to see what that looks like while it's running.
  6. https://testmy.net/quickstats/toooslow Is it hard to notice that link at the top? How could I make this easier to notice?
  7. That's a weird issue. Sometimes I've seen that happen when people have certain security programs running. Usually Firefox is one of the best performing browsers here. Maybe try reinstalling Firefox. But, the test doesn't actually start until after that data is loaded. So if your being effected by slow loading ... it shouldn't effect the upload results.
  8. You can also click the graph in the top menu... shortcuts to your stats.
  9. No... but they're capable of those speeds. I wonder if your uncapped somehow... What does it look like while the test runs? (the progress bar of the download test namely) Try this flat file download for me. 100MB
  10. What operating system and browser are you using? Are you running any internet security software?
  11. I assume that you're on SmartBRO... Well, the topic is at -- but I'm seeing the most recent posts people on Windows 7 aren't having much luck with that method. Personally, if I couldn't find the new way to do it... and if I couldn't figure it out, I would use virtual machine and windows XP to get the job done. Or try to get access to a windows XP machine, since we know that those instructions work perfectly on XP. PLEASE, if you find the new way to do this let this forum know. Allot of SmartBRO users are looking for this information.
  12. I'm just finishing up a pretty awesome programming session. I did a complete graphing system overhaul. This update did a few cool things. First, it lightened up the load. It's cut the amount of information sent to you to load TestMy in half... Second, you can now hover and interact with the charts... ... and the big one. This version works in IE. The programming for the old charts is still built into the site in case there are any incompatibilities. But I really doubt it will be needed.Enjoy!
  13. Welcome! Okay, that's allot of questions. Let me answer one and I'm hoping other members will help me with the others. It depends on the type of provider. DSL is typically not effected by your neighbors... but Cable Internet usually is. It looks like you're on cable, so you may feel it during the internet rush hours in your area. Many cable providers compensate for this by giving their customers more bandwidth than you would typically get from a DSL provider. As for location... you almost always want to be closer to the heart of a city for the best bandwidth. But with Cable Internet you actually may see improved speeds the further out you go, because less people are on your node. ... although, it really comes down to the cable system that you're on. Where do you live? - Damon
  14. I took the time to add some new features for you. Let me know if this helps. https://testmy.net/auto
  15. Definitely not free --- but that's why I have advertisers
  16. Double post... Topic reply at
  17. Hey rez1sog... seen your screen name allot. Welcome! It stops after 10 cycles, so on a 15 minute interval the test is exhausted in 2 1/2 hours. I'll be adding more features to that section soon. You'll be able to control that aspect in the next version. For now, you can increase the interval to get more time out of it. -- I had to put some kind of limit on the auto test once I opened up testing below 30 minute intervals. If someone is on a 5 minute timer then forgets about it... there goes a bunch of my bandwidth. The cycle system I put in place eliminates that worry... but as you can see, it can also limit the functionality of the tool. So, I will revisit that soon. I hope this answers your question. Thank you for your patronage. - Damon
  18. Yeah, that's a really weird problem. It doesn't surprise me that TestMy is the only one effected, because I use a completely different method for testing. But you really need to ask why this keeps happening on your computer. Because if it's effecting the upload results here... I can almost guarantee that it's effecting ALL of your form submission uploads through your browser. It may not effect other protocols however... I bet it's some program or browser add-on. If I had to guess it's most likely some type of security software that's lagging your form submission. Probably parsing the form data to make sure your sending safe information... Disable anything like that and try using Firefox. Like I've said before, the tests here are much more sensitive than other speed tests. This is intentional. You're here to find what may be slowing you down... right? Let me know when you figure out what it is. I'm curious.

Auto and SmarTest make their assumption in different ways. The auto test is taking more information into consideration when it makes its determination. SmarTest tends to be a little more thorough but the intuition of the auto test saves time. I don't see a bug, but thanks anyway. -Damon
