1. Awesome, I'm glad to hear that you figured it all out.
2. That's a pretty major increase. But still far off the mark. What browser are you using? Give us some specs on your system.
3. I guess it's obvious who caused the index spike...
4. Damn, nice.. tweaker... Funny, we must be both running an auto test 15 minutes apart from each other, lol.
5. Yep, I've made the dot zero mistake a few times. Definitely worth waiting for the next release almost every time. Part of the reason I haven't upgraded to the newest version of IPB yet -- although IPB does now have a .1 release of that I think I'm still going to wait a little longer. I run REDHAT Enterprise 5.5 x86_64 here... been running RHE since about 2003 or so.
6. MILLION PARTY! Post up a party video! Just paste the youtube link and it will embed. 1st post one that's PG (what the hell is he wearing on his head! Ohhh Will.i.Am... you're so retarded.) ... then another that's PG13 / R or a comedy
7. Well, I doubt it's bad peering. Many people on Charter max their connections out here. https://testmy.net/ho...ory/charter.com What I would bet that it's your MTU and RWIN... Windows XP or Windows Vista especially are notorious for this out of the box. They simply weren't designed for the speeds you have now. Try this >> https://testmy.net/ip...__1#entry329146 download TCP Optimizer, get those settings changed then reboot and you should get faster speeds here. By the way, speedtest.net doesn't detect many of the issues TestMy.net is able to detect. https://testmy.net/ipb/uploads/emoticons/default_wink.png' alt=';)'> --- (our visitors tell us this daily). Another issue you may have is if your computer is ill-equipped to handle your new speeds. You'll see this more with netbooks...

incorrect ISP

If you query your username back 14 days, then reverse the query you'll see this... https://testmy.net/stats/?&t=u&d=08102011&x=14&m=2&l=1000&q=TriRan I think what I'm going to need to do to resolve that is run a second query on each username then use the ISP name that's most frequently used. Those tests normally would have been counted as mobile and subsequently wouldn't be factored in... but you must have tested your phone as a modem or something (right). Thanks for pointing this out. This is one of those 1:1000000 cases, seriously the stars have to align just right for this to even happen. If I'm not wrong it should look that was until the 18th... if you want I can remove those two entries to clear it up sooner.
9. You seem cool. Welcome to the site. My first 'real' computer was pretty much the same... although the details are hazy these days I believe it was a 386SX, no math coprocessor, 2MB RAM (which I upgraded to 8MB for like a million dollars, thanks Mom) and a 250MB hard drive. Came with DOS and I put Windows 3.11 on it... I consider that my first computer because of the hard drive... ... yeah.. SX, I bet you haven't heard that in a long time. How old are you?
10. I took part of your suggestion and put it into practice. Thanks You should try calling them instead of email. I bet you'll get a much easier resolution. -- ALSO, when you call, let them know about the inconvenience you've been put through trying the email support process. They may even give you a credit or something for the trouble. Cox always wants to keep their customers happy. They at least need to know that it's not working.
11. No problem Just curious... how do you think I could make it easier to understand?
12. That hop that times out is completely normal, it doesn't respond on purpose for some reason. My host explained it to my once but it's been a long time and I forgot their explanation. Everyone gets that timeout and achieve killer speeds here. Most likely your r_win or MTU are set incorrectly, what OS are you using. Just because you can thread 50 connections at full speed doesn't mean that you are optimized. Also, the tests here can't be compared to speedtest.net. They use a completely different method, a method that has been proven to be ineffective at detecting the issues that TestMy.net detects. Read this post for a little more information that you may not know about speedtest.net >> https://testmy.net/ip...m-speedtestnet/ Looks to me like the bad part of that traceroute is on your hosts side... hop number 4 4 100 ms 203 ms 200 ms host-197-13-220-24-static.midco.net [24.220.13.197] But hop 15... 100% normal for it to time out (my traceroute) traceroute to testmy.net (174.120.187.140), 64 hops max, 52 byte packets 1 192.168.1.1 (192.168.1.1) 2.451 ms 0.762 ms 0.669 ms 2 10.118.32.1 (10.118.32.1) 9.129 ms 11.400 ms 9.822 ms 3 ip68-2-6-65.ph.ph.cox.net (68.2.6.65) 8.400 ms 19.532 ms 9.696 ms 4 chndcorc01-pos-0-7-0-0.ph.ph.cox.net (70.169.72.58) 12.533 ms 22.540 ms 11.433 ms 5 chnddsrj01-ae2.0.rd.ph.cox.net (70.169.76.229) 10.533 ms 14.027 ms 29.939 ms 6 langbprj01-ae2.rd.la.cox.net (68.1.1.17) 25.772 ms 23.507 ms 23.754 ms 7 xe-2-3-0.cr1.lax112.us.above.net (64.125.31.190) 24.588 ms 25.836 ms 21.611 ms 8 xe-3-2-0.cr1.iah1.us.above.net (64.125.26.121) 49.239 ms 47.306 ms 50.163 ms 9 xe-2-1-0.cr1.dfw2.us.above.net (64.125.30.58) 47.316 ms 52.289 ms 59.851 ms 10 xe-0-1-0.er1.dfw2.us.above.net (64.125.27.74) 46.435 ms 160.565 ms 48.603 ms 11 64.125.199.94.t366.above.net (64.125.199.94) 47.548 ms 49.419 ms 46.242 ms 12 te3-5.dsr02.dllstx3.networklayer.com (70.87.253.90) 56.930 ms te9-1.dsr02.dllstx3.networklayer.com (70.87.253.22) 49.920 ms te9-1.dsr01.dllstx3.networklayer.com (70.87.253.6) 72.259 ms 13 * * * 14 e.ff.5746.static.theplanet.com (70.87.255.14) 48.612 ms 48.710 ms a.ff.5746.static.theplanet.com (70.87.255.10) 59.813 ms 15 8c.bb.78ae.static.theplanet.com (174.120.187.140) 48.957 ms 47.132 ms 46.090 ms
Hop 13 for me... 13. Just go to your results page and click "Export to CSV" -- OR click "Share This Query" and give them the URL. You get these links by clicking "Your Results" >> https://testmy.net/quickstats/dedelano -- I've tried to make it very easy to get this information to your ISP. Let me know if this answers your question.
14. You're half right... it's not an LTS release... BUT I'm her long term support.
15. You have Ubuntu 11.04 LTS Anyone who's interested in downloading it... http://www.ubuntu.com/download/ubuntu/download
16. Welcome to the site! There are many factors that may cause this to happen. First read this >> What is the speed you're supposed to get? Do you feel like you're having an issue but are finding that your results at speedtest.net don't reflect that? Let me know some more specifics about your issue and either myself or one of our many awesome members will try to help you fix it.
17. oh.. haha. Maybe I need a cup of coffee. I saw... ... and for some reason thought it was my quote at a glance. duuuuuuuuR! I thought that was strange because you had already responded to this topic. My bad
18. It's brand new... there isn't a spec of dust on anything yet. I used SMC fan control for a while but I like the default fan settings... I like it silent. The SMC just needed to be reset... it was odd, but odd things happen sometimes. I'm not at all concerned about it, did it once and it's never done it again. I just wanted to post this so that anyone with the same problem may be able to find a resource to help with the same problem I had. ... plus, dude... do you even know who I am? Do you think I wouldn't realize that I had a dusty unit? Even if it was dusty, it wouldn't rev up like that and then be resolved by SMC reset. My equipment is never dusty... I'm very anal about keeping the inside of my computers immaculate... I've had this iMac for just a couple of months and I've already had the screen popped out of it 3 times for cleaning... When you love computers as much as I do and rely as much on them as I do, they get treated right.
19. Thanks for helping spread the word. This site has always been word of mouth and I really appreciate when people do my advertising for me. Let me know how it turns out. Don't be a stranger. - CA3LE

Welcome to the site! No, I'm sorry. Although, I should have this resolved fairly soon. This is very high on my priorities. Thanks for the input and wanting to help the site
