Disable the AV and test to make sure that is what causing the problem. I use Eset Security Suite 7 and don't have any problems.

I'm still on the same Acer Laptop since 2003 or 2004 and it runs great! Came with XP. I Partitioned with Vista what a piece that was. Wiped clean and went with W7 and Partitioned W8. Other than adding a extra gig of ram and bigger Hard Drive I have done nothing with this. Since I don't have a touch screen I start straight into W8 Desk top and bypass the regular start screen. I like the W8 better than the W7 because its a little faster, I guess its all in what your used to working with.

Partition your hard drive and install W7 on the new partition and dual boot! The first thing I did with this laptop (sometime back) was run Darik's Boot And Nuke and wiped Vista right off this thing when W7 came out. Now I don't even do that. Duel boot is easy to do and faster!

Vista was introduced under his watch and it really sucked!

I've been dual booting W7 & W8 their pretty much the same except W8 has a second start screen with apps. I guess this is to keep up with the Ipud and other mobile apps! Some things that your used to in W7 have been placed in different locations and named different in W8. Played hell trying to find uninstall programs. Found an program that installs a start button in explorer , that made navigation a lot easier. W8 is a learning curve but like I said very similar to W7. All in all W8 is good but still needs some fine tuning in my books!

Chrome does the same thing to me. Hits 100% and hangs the goes a little farther before it changes over to the results. It just might be a problem wit Chrome. I don't have this problem with Firefox. Its doesn't seem to make any difference in the results of the testing of the two Browsers.

I'd go ahead and put W7 On it! My wife's old PC3200, Pentium 3.2 GHz runs it just fine. Just doesn't use areo, no big deal! Also it has 2GHz memory.
