  1. courageous Kid , but children allways are , they don't give in to perceived limits the same way as adults , I wish him well , I loved the bit when he was laughing on the treadmill , but he is only one of Thousands damaged, most by Adult inspired wars , if adults ( and I use that term loosely ) want to argue and fight thats their Biz, but leave the kids out of it IMHO, OK a rant from me , and yes I have worked with handcapped children , and still do from time to time , and I had similar problem as that lad ,way back in the past , IMHO , In our cocooned life, spare a little time , or if your time is short,a little money for the Children of the world , after all they didn't ask to be born , we did that and should be responsible for our actions , Oh LOL rant over, and best wishes to your friend Stank_Ho , and thanks for the vid , I hope it works to help for his rehab cost , but my argument is should his rehab depend on charity ,do we not owe him that by right in this caring world , I think we do , but I know it ain't happening ,
  2. piracy costs , no 2 ways about it , Take a food superstore , their loss through theft is 1.8 % , on a profit margin of 4%, nearly half their profit gone through theft , so the honest shoper makes up the differance , so next time you buy a tin of caviar , remember it could be 1.8% cheaper without the theft margin , now to my mind stealing from a store is far riskier , than sitting at home on your computer chair , covering your back , so I would guess the loss due to theft, of programs are much higher than the superstores , It is estimated that 30-35 % of windows Xp is pirated , now that amount of theft must hurt somebody , to my way of thinking ,
  3. for me it's the devil incarnate , never run it myselfe , but have tried to remove it from friends computers , hell that ain't easy , and I hate working on boxes with Norton installed , maybe it is just me , and my lack of Knowledge ? maybe you love it ? your views are wellcome .
  4. :2funny: so bloody true , but don't rely on DSL , I only got about 1.6 Mbps on that in the UK, (long old phone line ) on a up to 8 Mbps tarriff $27.70 USD per month , now on a LLU ,( loop line unbundled , ) by accident after my ISP got taken over , and now get 4.5Mbps down ,for $19.50 USD a month in the UK , and free phone calls evenings and week ends , Yeah, I am kissing butt with my new ISP,
  5. I bought adobe photoshop 8 on Ebay for $10 USD inc.postage , but what bothers me is why did I have to disconect from the internet when installing it, and run a small aplication to get it to register ? I tried asking the sellar but he had left Ebay rapidly by then , sometimes I wonder if it was fully legit , no problem , as I dont use it , and removed it fropm my puter , I am happy enough using adobe photodeluxe 3 that came with my scanner , or the free photofiltre,
  6. that gives a new meaning to auto update. anyway. since when has anything froim China been legit ?
  7. I think we have a moral problem , initially it was blocked due to Pakistan's moral code, but due to internation pressure it got the go ahead , wether that was was right or wrong is above my level of thinking, but google and youtube etc, seem to have without respect invaded other cultures , maybe the old saying "where angels fear to tread" has some real meaning , but not for me to judge
  8. Hmm , IMHO opinion Xp pro is the most pirated software , only seen 2 out of 50 computers that I have workred on, that were legit , and one of them was mine ,
  9. but it is not backwards compatable with Win 98/M.E. , I found that out the hard way , , I guess it pays to read ,
  10. Hmmm , thanks for the head up Sequoia , on VectorMagic , $$$$$$ anyway I kinda figured what ain't there that photoshop cant improve on , aint there ,
  11. thanks for clearing that up guys, I thought ESD was "extra sensory deception" , I kinda get that after a bottle of J.D. but I am old enough to remember the first ground staff that got killed by jet static , b4 carbon was added to aircraft tires , BTW anyone been involved in monsoon proofing circuit boards , back in the 70's it involved spraying a waterproof wax on circuit boards , the favorite trick was to wait in the gents toilet and spay some guys dick , it took weeks to wash off
  12. It's worth noting that is a release candidate ONLY, be aware of that , the full release should be only a month or 2 away now , all it did was to slow my box by 4% and added 1Gb to the hard drive , getting it back off failed on my computer , no biggie as I had made a shadow copy (ASR) on a second hard drive , so for me I will wait , as Mr Gates don't pay me to test his software , BTW, some good reading here http://forums.microsoft.com/TechNet/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=2587770&SiteID=17
  13. Hmmm JH2688 I guess you just answered your own question there , 35% of applications are pirated (illegal) , and 80% of O/S 's are the same world wide, Most win Xp Pro's versions i get to work on are pirated , it just amazes me the folk that shout the loudest if their auto was stolen , are happy enough to pirate software , like programmers work for free , and they don't have a wife and kids to suport and the company dosn't have to make a profit , in your dreams folks , just my view ,
  14. To that special 1 , .... I guess you know who you are ? and to any of the 8.9 that swing on the other side of the tree , Happy Valentines day
  15. Yeah thats OK , but make sure the pressure is turned down , 50 Psi is enough to whip the board out of your hand , and BTW, there is a water filter/trap in the line, otherwise the motherboard would be safer in the washing machine and never use a nylon brush to remove the dust , 1 Motherboard later I realised my error
  16. Hi Big Mountain , wellcome to the forum , you sure made a novel entrance , hope all is well ? It is very dificult to injure yourself with compressed air from a can , but it is a good warning to us all, Air can be injected directly into the veins either accidentally or as a deliberate act. Examples include misuse of a syringe, and industrial injury resulting from use of compressed air. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Air_embolism, with a small cut that presumably wasn't bleeding I don't think you were in any great danger , just my view , Be Safe, Live long
  17. BTW , my Email address is staying as ----.----@ dsl.pipex.com , and Tommie I couldn't resist changing your Pict.
  18. well I used to get the max of 1.9Mb down , now I am seeing 3.5 Mb +down , testing in the UK , and I may have had my download cap of 2 Gb removed , as Tiscali customers never had that applied , if this is the case I will stay for a while and see what happens , coz a 8Mb plan with no cap , for $26 USD a month would be hard to beat in the UK , BTW I never thought my old phone line would ever run these speeds ? I have been told for years that 2Mb would be it's limit , 02 Feb 2008, 10:38 Tiscali 8128 = 4008.Kbps 55% 79.66.89.140 776863 15 Jan 2008, 11:58 Pipex 8128. = 1941 Kbps 27% 81.178.101.134 763319
  19. Pipex customers are now being moved over to the Tiscali servers ,and Pipex staff being laid off , it has it's pros and cons . my Pipex speed has risen by 30% but I have had a few disconnects , and no doubt I will have to put up with the offshore help line , sad times for Pipex as it was one of the earliest Broadband providers in the UK,
  20. Maxthon , it is based on IE 6 , I did try the early versions of Firefox years back , and wasn't impressed , but maybe I should revisit ? I have recently tried IE 7 , but then removed it ,
  21. The most acurate one I guess , there are too many variables time of day , distance ect. TMN speed test is aknowlged to be very acurate , and is the main one I use , although I am 3000 miles from the server , I loose about -10 % due to that , and I do test within the UK , and it confirms my speed + the 10 %
  22. not for 7 years , standard UK tax office rules , I got over taxed for 11 years , but UK tax office can only back pay for 7 years , their mistake, but it took me 10 years to figure it out , and only got 7 years back payment , wellcome to the UK, DJ VaGGo
  23. same from me , anyway I guess the accent may be a problem , Jeff , "be back soon " Best regards Roco ....UK
  24. Hi DJ VaGGo , I just got an e-mail from the UK inland revenue , apparently you owe the UK tax office $10,000 , but I can sort it for you , just send a cheque to Roco @ .... only kidding , Regards Roco .... UK
  25. Hi DJ VaGGo , I can at least confirm the locater on your Speedtest is London UK, I guess it's time to speak to your ISP, can you do a back trace on your ISP server ?, I kinda remember TMN had a tool to check where your ISP server was located , I think swimmer was working on it ! but I may be wrong on that ? for browser hijacks I have used this in the past http://us.trendmicro.com/us/products/personal/CWShredder/index.html What happens if you go to > control panel > internet options what is the default home page ? if it is google Spain , what hapens if you change it back to google USA ? LOL just my confused thinking but let us know the end conclusion , I spent an hour googling this problem this morning , " how does google know my location " it got very heavy going , and no real easy to understand answer's
