  3. I just love it when the kids get to arguing. Who's got the fastest download, who's got the fastest upload, my system works well enough for me. I like to watch the fun though, just like watching my grandkids. To everyone, Happy Holidays. What speeds do you want for Christmas? :laugh:

  5. Be out of touch for a few days come daylight. Going to the top of New York State to where it meets Ontario and Quebec. No snow there but my longtime friend needs help with his new house before winter. Why wait till so late in the year and especially so late in life, good question.

  7. I'll probably get to see it with my nephew. He has one of those passes for so many movies, a real buff. Besides, Stallone should be all grown up by now. :2funny:
  8. Just looked outside and we now have at least 2 1/2 inches of snow in the past hour and coming down steady. My signal strength is still at 74 so I ran a quick test; Seems to be working well, haven't used this DW7000 in much winter weather.
  9. Just fixed my sister-in-law's HP 733.000000MHz Pavilion, wouldn't boot for her, so she said . Cleaned out files and dust and changed the CD drive, tray would open randomly. Now plugged into the network and speed test;

  11. 35* and a few flakes in the air. Wind WSW @23mph, cloudy. Had 65mhp winds last night and rain all day yesterday, inches. Hope it dries out so I can cut grass once more this year.
  12. I guess being the prevailing wind is westward you would get it before me. So that must make my location more southern than yours. But if I want to see winter I just need to go south of Buffalo to the snow belt as it's called.
  13. vanschlack, Good deal there. Looks liked your not pissed anymore. It's raining pretty good here right and my signal is down to 60-62 from 76. Glad it worked for you. I have a new pole mount now but need tor run my grounding and coax conduit. No rush here just getting ready for winter.
  14. jkubik, I guess you talking about your call being disconnected. I have waited a good 45 minutes before going to the next level. You need to do speed tests on this http://customercare.myhughesnet.com/ and after running one do two more retests, they all will be recorded with Hughes. You'll need to put in your site ID found here http://192.168.0.1/ under system info. I have had my DW7000 since Feb 2006 also. Hughes will only recognize their site for troubleshooting. My recent testing on this site during the heavy traffic hours for me are; November 29th, 06:59PM - 742/133 kbps November 29th, 06:57PM - 929/135 kbps You should ask for a case number shortly after they have reviewed your case in case you get disconnected, you then have some proof. But post your speeds here to get some help, we speak English here.
  15. Tommie, Sorry I didn't get right back, I lost a few hours on the couch and I can't remember what I was watching on TV. As you probably know the speed we cannot change much at all because of the distance for a complete trip, 22,000 up and 22,000 down with the satellite loop plus the terrestrial loop. The bigger the dish the more gain and I believe it is the similar with the transmitter, more wattage=stronger signal, not faster, so it can punch through easier and carry farther. Another for networking; http://www.cs.cornell.edu/w8/%7Eeckstrom/802.11a/primestar/ . I think a big dish could be used and probably almost eliminate rain fade but the larger the dish the tougher to focus and the cost to a system being sold would probably add another $2000 minimum for equipment. Now you also would be going from a offset to a prime focus dish. My only experimentation right now is boosting my signal. As I recall from my 4000 that any time the receive signal was lost the transmit wouldn't work. The basis of networking, both ends must communicate. Email me, I have some thoughts on this.
  16. The farthest wireless at home I have done is about 350' and there wasn't much loss in speed through the entire loop.
  17. Why use a wire? http://www.wifi-shootout.com/
  18. Just got up from my nap. There is no more Sherwood forest here. It was cut down many years ago and became Sherwood Farms until nobody in the family wanted to work anymore. So the farm was closed up and sold off.
  19. What's the run-around? It's 51* and Partly cloudy in Wake Forest.
  20. Not really, maybe 25 seconds is more accurate, but maybe 25 minutes hand delivered.
  21. Our towers are over 22,000 miles away.

  23. Good idea Tommie, would you, would it give me more bandwidth? I have no phone line you know.
