Not only did they tax me SC 5% on equipment and a month's service in advance, when I returned the equipment they refused to refund the tax saying they were 'buying back' the equipment and didn't have to return the tax. I have reported them to the SC Dept of Revenue because I'll bet they are claiming the equipment is returned on their state sales tax return to get the credit and keeping it in their pocket. Did you get a complete refund, or did you get stuck for some installation charges?

You will get latency with anything that has to travel 40,000 miles round trip, I cant see the 7700 being any different, seeing as it uses satelitte as well. A phone call from here to England has latency, because of the distance and the way it gets there, but the question is, who has seen a 7700 running?

So I guess I am not going to get the 20 bucks? LOL

There servers are normaly down, which means they dont care and dont want to talk with you..... I get the same crap when my service gets bad... OH WE ARE HAVING TECHNICAL PROBLEMS!

Ouch! I was getting confused, I knew you had Business but then you stated residential too...

The reason I said you would need more then 8 ports is..... most switches, routers or hubs normaly come with 4 ports, this is fine if you want 4 computers hooked up, but no room for an uplink port. most times if you have a 4 port, you will get 3 computers and an uplink to a dw6000 or whatever. same with an 8 port, 7 ports one uplink port, 16 ports, 15 and one uplink.

The uplink is there to connect to other networking equipment, as mentioned like another switch or DSL modem... and so on.

Now I have seen one or two that have the 8 ports and 1 uplink, but that is rare!.

After looking up on your greyfox equipment I noticed that it has the 9th port built in..... so in fact you would be ok with the 8 port you have

Its weird, I think its been like that since the installer came out and changed my LNB........ its not too shabby, could be a lot better can we say greedy?

You going to need more then an 8 port, you listed 8 rooms! your going to need a 16 port switch, or better still, go wireless, you dont need to run cables then.

One thing I think is weird, I have seen people with DW4000's, I have seen people on a business plan, but my upload speeds are always like this sometimes peeking to 15 KB/s....

I just dont like the upload when Im trying to get a 1mb picture  uploaded to my server it takes forever thats my only bitch.

The whole thing with tax and the internet sucks.... I own an online store, I also sell through ebay, I live in WV but can only charge tax to people in WV, I cannot at this time charge people in the other 49 states the 6.00 sales tax, so who pays that? me! why? because there is no law as yet for internet sales taxes.

So if this is the case, and I bought my system over the internet with my C/C and was not taxed, but now I look at my bills and I am being taxed for the monthly service of $59.95 or what ever it is.

2 months ago this was not the case, its just started to happen, nothing to do with the govenment, THIS INTERNET SALES TAX HAS NOT BEEN PASSED!!!

Direcway tried telling me some bullshit about they can do it because they are in my state, I told them "no your not, your in Maryland" the guy told me "we have installers in WV" again I told him "No you do not, you pay third party companies to do your work, they are not directly on your payroll", the ass hole went quite and told me I would have to speak to my local tax office, so I did....... They told me that the tax has not been sorted out yet, but if I wanted to I could collect the tax from all 50 states and declare it, but it is not complulsary as yet!

HUMMMMM......Figure that out..

Ok here's the deal - I have a 6000 with about 2 months left on the contract. I just won a 4000 off ebay.

I understand that Dway can be a real b*tch about letting you switch...yet I've read where people have done it.

Just tell them that you bought the 4000 and you are going to change over, if they say you cant then tell them you are going to cancel.... they should change there mind and let you, I cant see them wanting to loose a customer.... worth a try,

I have heard of people doing it, I know they dont like it, but go for it, tell them, if you cant switch your gone.....

I am quite certain by readin information on the 7000, its aimed at business users, so you would be paying a lot lot lot more on the monthly access..... not sure on how much but I think it will be well over $100 a month plus.

Sparky- yes you are right i do not have to read the post where people are complaining about Dway but when they are posting all over in diffrent subject where people are trying to get help all it does is clutter those subjects with people griping.

If you want to complain than keep your complaints to a subject called DWay complaining and griping so people can exercise there freedom of choice and not go to that subject.

That way those of us trying to learn something or help people are not wasting our time sifting through all the complaining to get to the actual subject of the post.

As far as my DW 4000 versus your DW 6000 again that was your choice for what ever reason to upgrade to the DW 6000.

If you are truly not getting what is advertised by Dway, if your upload is not what Dway is advertising and you truly have a leg to stand on with your argument than you can very easily get out of your contract by breach of contract & false advertising.

But i am assuming you don't really want to do that because your only other choice would be dial up.

Right now with your current actions you sound like the guy that bought a house next to the airport and claims he did not know it was there or that loud and thinks they should shut it done or build him a sound proof house at the airport expense.

I am not trying to stir you or anybody else up but i make one post that you guys need to quit complaining or put it in the proper forum post so the rest of us can ignore it if we choose and i get those of you who are unhappy attacking me know and my opinions which is not the purpose of this web site.

I bought this new, first time, never had a 4000 and I could not get one even if I wanted one, I am not prepered to buy a used one that might go bang in a day or so, which is an interesting point, what you going to do when that happens?

500 down, 50 up! thats what I was told, they will do nothing about it and yes, its ovious I only have dial up as an option, but $60 for this junk and $15 for dial up?? I think dial up worked better... no, it was more worth the money seeing as my upload still SUCK AS MUCH AS DIAL UP, and I do a lot of it.........

Instead of you complaining about the complainers, why dont you sujest to the site owner to build you a nice non-bitching forum? why else do people come here? to complain about there issues with DirecWay? maybe I was wrong.......
