What is interesting is, Hughesnet are offering greater speeds to the user who want to pay for it, but at our cost, they do not have the bandwidth for us scummy people now, how do they give more to others without affecting the low end users?

No, not FAP'd, thats an easy check now, just goto the webpage for the modem and it tells you.
I have 1 EVDO provider and that is Ntelos, they do not have good speeds and a 5 gig a month limit, not sure if they enforce the limit or not, Sprint does now have evdo around here, they must be using the Ntelos network.
Ntelos and Sprint both have the 5 gig cap, but sprint want to charge you 2 cent's a Mb overages with a 2 year contract.
AT&T has nothing here.
Verizon has nothing here.
US Cellular has nothing here.
A Town with 28,000 students and nothing of any use! what is up with that?

That is not going to happen, I would rather shut the service down again then pay hughesnet another dime then I am now.

I am starting to see a pattern now, its a bottleneck issue, Hughes is overloading this bird I am on, what ever it is, I think it is Horizons1.... not sure anymore, anyone know how to tell?

I don't think I used the smart test, I went straight for the 1Mb file.....
It was not the test that was inaccurate, my speed was down badly, pages had trouble loading, when they did it could take over 1 minute to load and so forth.

I did it myself this past summer, I was unable to get a stronger signal strength higher then 70.When was the last time you had your dish realigned?One thing I did notice, when I was adjusting the dish every time I put my hands on the back of the dish the signal would go up by around +10, I was thinking about going up with some aluminum foil and contact adhesive spray fixing it to the rear of the dish, I still may try this when it warms up just to see if it will help any.
Have any of you tried this yet?

I said the same thing to my wife, Hughesnet $75 a month, Dial up $9 a month, and dial up would be more reliable.... lol
The said thing is, I don't care, I am not going to talk to India to go around in circles and listen to there crap!

Beat that if you can, (Dial ups not allowed). $75 a month for this? I am not FAP'd, it is 6:43Pm as I type this 29 seconds for this webpage to load, signal strength is 70 clear weather.

i will try to locate the virus however i know i need to find a restore disc to reinstall vista as my recovery partition and the ability to connect to the internet is lost. i have not come across a website that has model specific disc sets. That grey area i understand and have been trying to work with, however i cant find the proper disc set to download and use to restore my computer, any further advice where to find?
What brand PC is it? you could call the manufacturer and ask for the recovery disks, they should send some to you.
Mine is an HP and HP tell me if I cannot make a recovery set from the recovery drive, they will send me some, worth a try?

Why don't you try system restore then look for the virus using an updated version of Symantec, I did mine yesterday after finding a virus on my system.
Works great now.
Type in system restore in the find bar.

Personally I would never commit to another contract with Hughesnet, I intend to pay them no more then I am now.
I kinda figure, if I did upgrade, DSL or Cable would come the next day! You know how it goes.
In the long run, if that is something you want to do, pay more for a little more speed, then good luck to you, me, I am never going to upgrade, I can't wait to put it out of my window when other options come knocking.

Well I am certainly not going with nTelos, customer service is poor, no knowledge and slow, the service is slow and they cap it at 5gb a month with would be about 130mb a day, not worth $59.99 a month, I will stick with the junk I have now, at least I am not in a contract with Hughes.
Ohh, nTelos require a 2 year contract.

Yeah, we have no verizon towers, we have no alltell service period. I just went to Sprints website and it states the cap on signup, I was about to do it until I seen that.
5GB a month is worse then Hughesnet, having better speed will just get me there faster.
You know its a sad thing to say, but the USA broadband system is going from bad to worse, we should be one of the leading countries with broadband, yet India and other countries are leaving us behind.... so sad.
