  1. as long as it works i guess it doesn't matter. lol but it still gets me how it was plugged up and stuff to work right.
  2. im not sure exactly how though if the power switch wasn't (i'm assuming since he asked) plugged into the board, how did he get the pc to boot?
  3. i beleive that the one with the battery on the end is the case speaker...if it is anywhere close to the same wires i had. blue and white i beleive is reset switch, red and white is hard drive led light, green and white is power led, orange and white is power switch. sorry if this has been answered already, but if you dont have the power switch (orange and white) plugged in how did you turn on the pc? mudman i attached the manual, so you can try to read it, since you said it didnt work from the site ps. i almost got that case but ended up getting a different one with more fans, how does that one perform, how cool does it keep stuff. i may build another pc soon and might get that case.
  4. yeah, but at least i'll have my laptop to type on and stuff for school...although i kinda wanted to play FEAR....(laptop specs in sig.) although my laptop does run flight simulator 2004 on medium-high with like 24fps. but i still can't wait to have my desktop up and running.
  5. yeah, but when i posted i thought i had lost the plastic case for the cpu itsself. i still have everything though so all is good. now that i got everything straightened out i just have to wait up to 5 or 6 business days for the refund (payed with check so they are sending me a check back) and then for them to verify my new order for the motherboard and ship it to me.
  6. update, i called and i am sending it back tomorrow for a full refund...so now im trying to find a new motherboard that goes well with the components i have already...this time i'll take every single one of the reviews on newegg seriously and i'll review other sites.
  7. hey dlewis i dont have the original bag it came in (i have the box and everything but i think i threw out the anti static bag cause i ripped it) does that matter? also, how should i store my cpu? it seems that i cant find the little pad it was in to protect the pins on the bottom. but i hhave the bag and stuff that came on
  8. yeah, i've only taken pcs apart and rebuilt them in my tech class. i guess this way i do get more experience...but its all good. as long as i get this thing working soon.
  9. ok thanks. lol kinda bad since this is my first pc build on my own and the memory slot is bad now i gotta take it all apart and rebuild it when i get a replacement
  10. thanks dlewis, i ordered it from newegg...so does that mean i have to call them? i am still in the 30 day exchange policy. so i rma it with them right? well.....i went to newegg and manually searched for the motherboard i bought and also used a link i saved to it. and it appears newegg doesnt have that model anymore. will that pose a problem?
  11. ok, here is whats happening. if ram is in the second slot only, then it will do a long beeb, then my drives, (dvd reader and then my dvd burner drive) kick on to see if a cd is in, then it does another long beeb and repeats this process. this only happens if a stick of ram is actually in the second slot. all other slots work fine. edit// i just noticed this...when the memory is in slot 2 there are 3 click sounds before each beep.
  12. i can still rma this motherboard, but i need to know soon if it is the defective slot or it is just my ram. any help please? thnks, starship
  13. yeah if i put both sticks in slots 3 and 4 it works fine. every configuration i think is possible (spent a huge while of time trying to get this right) works except when slot 2 is involved. thats why i figured it was a defective slot.
  14. ok thanks, i put it in that setup and booted it into bios...wtf was i thinking it worked and i tried to fix it...but also that confuses the heck out of me because it says to put them in the same color slots for dual channel...but still....if i put it in 2 yellow or 2 red (case for my mobo) it doesnt work. but if i select slot 1 and 3 or 2 and 4 it works...so i'll run that and make sure it works...thanks alot but please can you explain why the manual says keep it in same color (and yes the colors are slot 1 and 2 or 3 and 4 so thats why i set it up that way in the first place. maybe thats why it didnt work though...? edit, wait though. if i take all the memory out and just put it in slot 2 (not sure if it wont boot cause its the only stick in and not in slot 1) but it wont boot at all so that leads me to think its a defective slot??
  15. i have just built a pc but for some reason out of the 4 memory slots, 1 of them doesnt work. each slot has a 512mb ddr2 800 memory stick. dual channel. the second memory slot doesnt work at all. i tried switching the memory sticks and using all of the slots except that one and it always works fine. is it the memory slot bad? if it is i am not sure if i can RMA the motherboard, but here is the motherboard model. its a gigabyte GA-G55SLI-S4 . i'll attach a pic of it and a seperate one with the memory slot that doesnt work outlined so you can see which one it is.
  16. those are nice pictures, kinda makes you wonder what all is out there. i mean, if we haven't even explored our oceans, and then all this stuff out in space. makes you think. edit///wow i should have read mudmanc4's reply, its almost the same to what i wrote LOL he beat me to the reply.
  17. wow. thanks, i wont but thanks for putting that out there.
  18. thanks i almost knew it would be but had to make sure since i saw a few reviews on the card that said their 500 watt ones werent enough. but thanks.
  19. thanks for the link, but i already have a power supply. this one to be exact http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817174023
  20. HIPRO makes it. i've had a seperate power supply from them since 2000 and its still working great but im ordering a new one for a new computer. so it will work fine? thanks for the quick reply starship
  21. i am looking to get this card right here but along with a harddrive and an amd athlon 64 2.4ghz processor will this power supply right here be enough? the requirements for the card are: Minimum of a 400 Watt power supply. (Minimum recommended power supply with +12 Volt current rating of 18 Amps.) Minimum 500 Watt for SLI mode system. (Minimum recommended power supply with +12 Volt current rating of 28 Amps.) An available 6 pin PCI-E power connector (hard drive power dongle to PCI-E 6 pin adapter included with card). i have everything over that but am not sure if a 500 watt is powerfull enough to run thsi card and everything in my system. and i am not using SLI just this single card. thanks, starship
  22. im betting people who went to new years parties wish that this would have been released earlier
