Pc Games Lagging, Slow Browsing But Good Internet Speed
TriRan replied to freezie_pop's topic in Networking and Hardware
could be a bad modem or bad ethernet cord or a node issue like im having right now my cable internet will get random packet loss causing high latency, and at times my cable modem will lose its block-sync entirely my friends who live a few blocks away don't have the issue but all my neighbors do its a node issue. i've had several senior techs come out and they all confirm it so i just have to wait till they decide to fix the issue i guess -
well it doesn't when you look at speeds like this this is with only 2 bars of 4G its also real similar to what the phone gets on my 50Mbps connection from cox so i think it's ran into browser limitations anyone know of a faster android browser then dolphin HD?
-
actually dlewis i looked it up and the thunderbolt is using SVDO and eHRPD, VoRA wasn't mentioned anywhere i can see everything i've found only linked VoRA to the iphone rumors prior to the release of it on verizon
-
yeah if it's a clicking sound rather then a crackling its a HDD i would first swap the PSU out then start looking at fans and making sure they are all turning a fan that is seized up and trying to run could also start to make a smell like that aswell not sure about the crackling though
-
thats true for other networks Its5Four but the on the Verizon network 3G phones can't use data and voice at the same time
-
Oh gotcha thanks for the info
-
actually I have a 4g phone however it can do voice and data even when I don't have 4g signal its new most people don't know that
-
Btw dlewis my verizon android can talk and surf at the same time
-
many sites still use it... even youtube uses it (yes i know there is a youtube app) but why should i be forced to have an app? don't get me wrong i have apple products i even have an ipod touch... but i feel its lacking quite a bit the android OS appealed to me more thats all
-
the cpu is probably being bottlenecked by the hard drives max write speed even my x4 phenom doesn't max out when encoding a video
-
i'm not a fanboy but i did recently pick up the new Verizon thunderbolt it takes very nice pictures the sensor is nice and big and HD video too same as the iphone 4 >.> i like apple products i just hate that apple refuses to put flash on a product that can and should have it... that was the deal breaker for me, that and the fact that the iphone 4 is only 3G >.>
-
the upload is better with a better connection but with only 1-2 bars of 4g it was only slightly less then what i expected with full signal people are experiencing 15Mbps+ down and 5Mps+ up
-
lol i was at bestbuy today playing with the new HTC TB and with only 1-2 bars got this as a download speed just 4 more days and that'll be my phone i'll do extensive tests of the 4G network and see how well it performs

Pc Games Lagging, Slow Browsing But Good Internet Speed
TriRan replied to freezie_pop's topic in Networking and Hardware
lagging as in high latency or lagging as in low FPS? low FPS is caused by insufficient hardware e.g not a good enough cpu or video card -
i'm going to get the new HTC Thunderbolt in 6 days 4G/LTE here i come
-
don't let them try to say it's the site that's overloaded lol just tested at 46Mbps

Question About Pagefiles On Different Drives
TriRan replied to fattymcbluff's topic in General Discussion
well it also depends on how much ram you have, if you don't have enough ram to disable the pagefile of course it will freak out -
-

Question About Pagefiles On Different Drives
TriRan replied to fattymcbluff's topic in General Discussion
i've disabled page filing for C: drive before and put it on a different drive it didn't really do much nor did i really see a huge improvement i've even disable PF completely and my system ran fine, i'm the same as CA3LE though i haven't touched my PF in years now lol i just leave it at stock now -
Question About Pagefiles On Different Drives
TriRan replied to fattymcbluff's topic in General Discussion
just disable it and have page filing on the 2nd drive like you want, with that much ram i doubt you'll get a ton of page filing used anyways, on my machine i only have 4GB of ram and windows 7 is paging less then 100MB on a system managed PF size -
also the wireless transmitter could be rebooting, mine rebooted every 5-10 mins using firmware 1.33 i upgraded because it was a known bug in the scheduling i'm not 100% sure but airport routers should have a firmware too maybe an upgrade would help
