It's a very hard question to answer because sat can be so tricky not only where your located but simply what sat your using and how many users are subscribed to that sat has just as much to do with it I would see what kind of money back guarantee they have and see if you can use it on a trial basis

i usually see very different results than here, when my internet is having issues speedtest.net doesn't usually detect them at all it will show my full 50/5 where as here i can see my service is really suffering and only receiving half that

i actually get better results from here then i see on speedtest.net maybe that's just me...

Correct me if I'm wrong but ac is 5Ghz right? I imagine the metal Springs in your mattress were causing interference or there is something in a interior wall causing interference but looks like you already came to that conclusion aswell 5Ghz band can be really finicky

I just don't have the time to sit at the computer like I used to so it's pretty convenient for me to have one I don't think I could stay on top of things if I didn't

You are correct in that it could assign the drives as anything under win7 it will not effect your xp in the slightest though and it doesn't matter a whole lot I would probably do it under Win7 just to make sure I don't erase or move a critical system partition

Also once assigned you can always change drive letter assignment under win7 you shouldn't even need a reboot as they won't be system disks

Np and sorry I was on my phone yesterday and didn't see your other question till now. When you install your new hd and boot up your winxp it will assign a new letter to it after all your current partitions once you install win 7 on your new hard drive it will read all those partitions and assign them a letter automatically but it should not effect the lettering under winxp. Under win7 the hard drive it is installed on will be C: drive even if on your Winxp it reads as Z:

Hope that made a little sense

Yes it is just as simple as you have read basically what will happen is a new boot partition will be written with a newer bootloader and will ask what os to boot when you first turn your pc on if you make no selection it will boot off your default os which you can set under msconfig

I almost won't argue that point in the least, mudmanc4, hence why I said I was testing this AV.

Normally, or at least 50% of the time, I don't use an AV at all either, but when working on other people's computers and knowing how stupid some of them can be, you need to install anything and everything you can to help them!

I think I understand what you are saying.

Install the new HD with WinXP and it will be assigned as drive H:

Question:  Should I create the additional partitions I want with XP or Win 7 or does it not matter ?

Install Win 7 on new HD, it will now be identified as drive C: when running Win 7.

Old & new drive setup would be as follows when running either OS:

Win XP          Win 7 (new HD)

    C:                  C:
    D:                  D: (xp c)
    E:                  E: (xp d)
    F:                  F: (xp e)
    G:                 G: (xp f)
    H: (7)            H: (7 g)
    I: (7)              I: (7 h)

Or, I am completly off base on I what I think the drive letter assignment will be ?

    Thanks again.

I was going to edit my prior post, but for some reason there is no EDIT buttion on it.

I did some more web searching and found some information on drive letter assignment and it appears there is no consistant method in Windos when it assigns drive letters, so I just hope the results will be understandable when I install Win 7 on the new drive.

I already created an image backup of my WinXP C: drive just in case something bad happens.

Now I just need to wait another week or so till the new hardware and Win 7 OS are delivered.

Will report back when its done.

    Thanks for replies

CA3LE. And you should also mention that most of the OOKLA based test sites' speed tests won't run on an iOS device because the tests require Flash (the memory and battery hog technology that's not allowed on iOS devices). So kudos for you having iOS compatible testing. And although Speedtest.org now supports iOS/Safari, the results are way off. They even have a disclaimer:

    "Warning
For best testing experience and accuracy, Broadband Speed Checker requires at least version 8 of Flash. Please update your client by clicking here."

And when you try the support Contact Us on Speedtest.org, you get:
"Not Found. The requested URL /contact/ was not found on this server."

Plus you can't choose a server like you can on TestMy.

There is an OOKLA Speedtest app for iOS that allows you to pick servers, and the results trend kind of like the results I get here on TestMy, but the UI and the results displays and overall functionality of the app is orders of magnitude less than this site.

For iOS device users, nobody else that I've found is even in the same universe as TestMy.

TriRan got a reaction from CA3LE in Some Serious Upload Issues, ISP Problem?
Well first and foremost streaming at a 3k bitrate is all well and fine but it also depends on what resolution your streaming I'm assuming at least 720p maybe even 1080p? back when I used to stream I streamed 1080p at 2.2k bitrate and it required a solid 3-4Mbps upload rate from what I read you need somewhere around 10Mbps upload to upload a 3k with a decent audio quality aswell at 1080p your upload should be plenty fast enough... The first thing I would do is bypass your router and connect your streaming computer directly to your modem and retest this will be a process of elimination so bare with us and if it turns out its your isp the only solution is to call and complain daily till its fixed I've had issues like that before aswell and my isp swore it was my issue when it turns out it was a bad amplifier at their local node in my neighborhood
