  1. Were they not to release a 512MB version at some point? I'l probably switch to this card when Vista SP1 comes out if SP1 makes it stable so I can get DX10. My 7600GT will hold until then. If I don't upgrade to the 8800GT, I'l probably just wait for the next generation (9xxx) since there are no games which I really want to play that my present card can't handle. Edit: This is the info I got from THG " Regarding the clock, Nvidia has pushed the G92's stream processors to no less than 1.5 GHz. At the end of the day, the GeForce 8800GT has a computational power 46% higher than that of the 8800GTS and merely 3% lower than the 8800GTX! The only downside is memory bandwidth decreasing by 10% (still in comparison to the 8800GTS). Memory capacity is now 512 MB, but a 256 MB version will appear in the coming weeks. 2. Nice one. I think it's no computer hack, just that your brain anticipates something higher so you hear it.
  3. :2funny: I really couldn't stop laughing on that one. Thanks for making my caffeine-induced depression more supportable My name doesn't actually mean anything, you just recognize it as French because of the "Le", but my French-speaking friends also ask me what it means. I'd say I'm sorry for being a troublemaker, but truthfully I'm not. Still, I'l respect the mod's authority, and stop when you tell me to.
  4. I had already seen one, but not so many and so skillfully sketched. Nice find.
  5. pancake, I'd greet you, but then that would probably just be some subliminal form of virtual flirting (notice how much more attention new girl members get on TMN), so I wont. I do not greet you then. ... Okay, yeah, welcome to TMN! What I do: full time student What I used to to: bike salesperson What I'd like to do: less stuff, so I have more free time
  6. News from Canada: That's the error message I get We received a letter from a lawyer represeting the CRIA, they were threatening with legal action and We need to start blocking Canadian traffic because of this. If you reside in Canada, that is the reason you are being redirected to this message. Thanks for your understanding, and sorry for any inconvenience. Frankly, I very seldom use Demonoid anymore anyways, at least not their website, but I might be using some of their trackers hosted on other sites. Neways I don't use BT that much nowdays.
  7. Tommy, about your second quote: I used to think that Lincoln was cool... I used to like the quote from the song "By Myself" by Linkin Park "should I trust some and get fooled by phoniness, or should I trust nobody and live in loneliness" but today I have found the answer, which I have done my best to translate: "Doubting everything and believing everything are two convenient solutions that both dispense us from thinking" -Poincar
  8. I found that the Quality of Service (QoS) option is also quite useful, although a little hassle to set up. There are plenty of guides on how to do it out there though.
  9. After trying with another comp, I get the same link as you do Siryak. So idk what caused it but now it's fixed. My bad.
  10. Huh, that's weird, when I hover my pointer over the "Off Topic Discussion" link the bottom left space of my browser indicates http://www.testmy.net/forum/index.php?board=138 It might be only a "problem" on my computer but I'm baffled as to what causes it. I'l try when I get access to another computer.
  11. when I click on the "off topic discussion" link, I get the "PC security" page. And yes it's still the case, but the horror movie link works properly. Then again you might just have forgotten to correct it. The link does go to b-138 indeed.
  12. I think that the new section's a good idea, but it seems to have disrupted the link to "off topic discussion" See this link http://www.testmy.net/t-20195 Or maybe Momma T just typed the wrong link Anyways, I think it would be nice to have a Vista sub-section in the Help section too.
  13. I have looked up the error, ans as I said, when I follow their instructions, I get greeted by a BSOD and no explanation on reboot.
  14. Well I think that it's the mods that we have to thank in here, for everyone here benefits from the spammers being banned. What I found weird was that there didn't seem to be a link in the pm so that spam seemed without monetary incentive. Anyways, the user said it itself: He/she was mad Those of you who have read the thread I am speaking about will understand, it is probably deleted by now. edit: actually, i found the thread. Admins, feel free to remove it if you think it inappropriate. http://www.testmy.net/forum/index.php?topic=20142.0
  15. Hello friendly people of TMN. I've had this problem for a while now, I thought that it might take care of itself but it doesn't seem minded to do so. So here it is: When I try updating my vista premium 32bit os through windows update, most updates fail and I get the 8007000B error. After googling it, I found that the command line fsutil resource setautoreset true C: is supposed to fix that, and it seems that it worked for pretty much everyone that tried it. Only, in my case, I get a BSOD every time I do. And after that, I still can't update. I tried looking for other solutions and someone suggested I type SFC /scannow. I did, which resulted in yet another BSOD. I tried SFC /verifyonly which completes and doesn't seem to find any errors. Please note that I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing . So now I am a little confused as to what I should do. I find vista's features great but that error and the infamous nvlddmkm display driver error stop me from recommending it. Hope you guys can help me on this one. If it helps, I'm running vista in French.
  16. I did indeed get relatively cheap surge protection (sub 30$) so I think it could be worth it to ground. If I can get the home owner to refund me, I will, but it won't be that expensive anyways. I'l probably get grounded on water heaters tho, but mudmanc4, were you saying this could be a bad idea? Seems to me like there is quite a bit of metal on there, enough to ground a plug.
  17. I just moved into my new apartment and realized that there was no "ground" plugs anywhere. The whole apartment is not grounded. So I purchased a surge protectors to protect my electronic stuff, but I was wondering if it was enough. I'm actually not too sure how surge protectors work. I could invest quite a bit of time and ground it if it ended up being necessary to protect my equipment.
  18. I know that feel, I have a friend that is 1 day older than I am and I just can't stand it
  19. Yeah, that's where the national igloo in which we hold our version of congress was built
  20. Actually, the funniest part was that my friend and I have the same birthday so we went together, but the guy thought that our cards were fake because they had the same date on them. He didn't understand the concept that it is because we had the same date on them that we were there together.
  21. Damn you! You are 3 days older than I am. And yay for the 18 drinking age in Quebec. I actually never was refused in a bar/club because I didn't drink too much before I was 18. For you guy's 21st bday, I suggest you do what I did at 18: You wait until 23:30 the day before your birthday and you go to a place where you know for sure that you will get your card asked. When they refuse you you just wait it out and come in under their noses right after.
  22. Yep, had checked already and it was started.
  23. Hi guys I recently installed a stripped down version of XP on a laptop and now I find that I cannot connect to the internet wirelessly because I do not have the "wireless connection" in my network places. I have a network card (siemens speedstream) inserted and its driver is installed, and still no avail. Is there some kind of function I need to activate or something to have it try to detect a network, or is my version of XP just too stripped down? Thx
  24. Then again, there's Ebay...
  25. I am registered, but I think that you don't need to be invited to register, there are some open registration periods, check the site. Btw, we seldom talk about illegal torrents on this forum nor do we refer them in posts. That does not mean that no one downloads illegal torrents (I do myself) but it is just not the place to talk about them. There are plenty of forums out there for that, including the forums of the download sites.
