Schwarzenegger: Turn Off Spanish TV
Le_Murphant replied to tommie gorman's topic in General Discussion
Hmm, that was a bit crude, but I can understand up to a certain extent. Lower level english speakers in my classes were assigned to look at television in english, it should be the same with hispanics. That doesn't mean that one should ban spanish media but hispanics should be encouraged to listen to some media in english too to learn it. I'm surprised that a Holywood actor such as Arnold is actually able to govern a state mildly well -
That's probably your problem, had the same and then realized that Windows didnt recognise my graphics card and thus was running integrated graphics, resulting in the same result that you have now. About the info you just gave, that's not your graphics card, but i'l look your computer up and see if I can find it. Edit: Your vid card is a ATI Mobility Radeon. You can download and install the required drivers by filling out the appropriate information here: http://ati.amd.com/support/driver.html and by downloading and installing the driver they propose. If there is something you are unsure about, feel free to post.

Yeah, thought it was the same, which explains my "go figure". There was no beep, on screen display, no nothing, and now everything works fine.
-
Once again, go figure. I had let the battery out after I had cleared the cmos, thought that I didn,t need the battery to remember any settings. I plugged it back in and it worked, everything is fine and the bios is updated. I'l know next time. Anyways, thx reso for the help

Would a computer vendor like Best Buy have a rom flasher that can fix that? How about maybe a local small computer store? I don't have any friends that I can think of that would have a rom flasher.

Hi, I have an asus P5N-E SLI board with a E6600 cpu overclocked to 2700. I wanted to update the bios from version 0401 to 0602 through the EZ-Flash utility but somehow it told me that the "downgraded rom" was not suitable for my system. I tried with other more recent BIOSes which yielded the same result. Then I tried to go through ASUS update through windows, which seemed to work fine. They asked for a reboot and then... no POST. The screen stayed blank for 5 minutes, so I thought I ought to just turn it off and on again to see. Same result. I tried to insert the support CD which is supposed to automatically reinstall a bios. The CD starts spinning, then stops, and nothing. I took out the battery, cleared the cmos, unplugged everything except the power cord, still no POST. I'm kind of wondering what to do now, any ideas? This was the first time I flashed a BIOS, so I might have done something stupid.

the line "who won american idol" is in the top 5 of google's most frequent searches (too lazy to check the exact number, it's on their website somewhere)

Where did you get that figure? I don't need one for myself, but just wondering.

lol, I thought this was a thread about a bad tibia caused by MMORPG's, such as a tennis elbow or Ipod thumb

Wow, 128 megs of ram, that's just over the top. You could actually run outlook 2003 with that. http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook/HA102127151033.aspx

Too bad you had that much trouble with it. On my Inspiron 5150, the CD-drive pin broke, possibly from too many hours of playing diablo I also broke the motherboard audio input jack, but that was my fault. Of course, there's the chronic overheating problem, but I just get used to 50 C idle temperatures. I also find that the overall design of the laptop, especially the USB plugs, is less than optimal, but overall, I would not say that I am dissatisfied with that laptop. Your tech not knowing that it was needed to apply thermal paste was pretty stupid tho.

I'm kind of late in your thread, but the 24 hours between Saturday at 5pm and Sunday at 5pm were awesome. I just finished exams and there was a huge party to celebrate, we stayed up all night and I went to bed at 5 pm on Sunday. All kinds of funny/nasty stuff happened at the party and since this is a family-oriented forum, I'l refrain from explaining them, but just thinking of all that happened puts a smile on my face. Anyways, glad that you all had a good day too.

Ok, checked Asus Probe as well as the bios, and the MB temperature appears to be 35 Celsius. The reading i get on speedfan is AUX0, but I still haven't found what it measures. I also realized that one of the fan connectors was not plugged in. I haven't plugged it in yet, I'l look up what it does, but I find it unlikely that it was I that unplugged it by accident. Chances are that it just shipped unplugged. What's weird is that the fan that is connected to it running, so I guess that the power doesn't come from there. I took a picture, I'l post it when I upload it to my comp.

Well I ran my comp with the case open and touched the HS for the northbridge and it becomes almost too hot to touch within 30 seconds of turning the computer on. That's y I will probably cool it with a small 40mm fan. Still havent checked in the bios, i'l keep you posted.
-
I am quite certain that my cpu reading is correct, Inspirons 5150 have a history of overheating, it can go till about 70 then it automatically throttles down. For the northbridge, it does indeed seem excessive to me, I'l check in the bios.

Nop, Speedfan is in Celsius, and it says 131. There's a fire sign next to the temperature The cpu on my laptop also gets that treatment at 52 Celsius Idle cause it's known for overheating. Everest also said so when I installed it but since I rebooted it won't give me any reading on anything With so many heating problems, I invested a lot in cooling in my new box, I'l see how it goes.

Yeah, some people on this forum have strange relationships, but these 2 are one that comes back often. Don't be alarmed, it will just come out as normal one day. Edit: Damn, I always forget to check if there is another page that has been written

Yep, that's exactly the one I bought, but I also bought another NB heat sink because I don't think that cooler would have fit with the original one. Anyways, I doubt that the stock HS on the NB would have been sufficient, due to the fact that I have a similar one on my P5LD2 and its average temp is about 131 degrees Celsius (I plan on changing it too eventually, maybe for a small fan)
-
Thx, that thread is great, bought a NB heat sink and a fan, I should receive them any day.
-
Yep, I already have... but he got back to me somehow Anyways, just wanted to test before I bought, I was satisfied and thus bought it, but it I already had XP, I probably would not have upgraded, but since there's barely a price difference between them, I went for Vista. I do admit that there are still a few bugs to work out, but compatibility has not been much of a problem for me, a bit with the Ipod before the official release but now it's ok.

You're old Well, I had seen your age before, but before seeing it I thought that you must have been around 40 or so. Shows that you have kept some of your youth
-
I wouldn't count on that, but hey, you might never know. Oh, yeah, and I didn't formally welcome you, so here it comes: Welcome to the forum, now hand over your soul

Within 5 years, sure, assuming she's moderately good looking. I do admit that there would be a maturity difference but for the looks, no problem. Plus an older girl has more experience

I just got a P5N-E SLI mobo, and since I plan on overclocking my E6600 a bit, I wanted to get an aftermarket cpu cooler. The problem is that I have about only 49 mm between the middle of the cpu and the humongous northbridge passive heatsink. I looked over zalman's website, and I can't seem to find something that will fit. I guess I could consider getting a heastink fan, but I was wondering what you guys were thinking would be the best option. I was also considering the Scythe Katana Cu, that might be able to fit, but it's kinda hard to get in Canada, so I'd prefer sticking to Zalman. Edit: I thought maybe I could get a huge 120mm fan that would cover both my cpu and my northbridge, but I don't know much about cooling, so that might be a bad idea. The problem with getting a chipset cooler is that it will probably end up taking more space than the passive heatsink. To get an idea of the size of the heatsink, check this site: http://www.legitreviews.com/article/434/2/
