Interesting article about wireless in the hurricane zones

very good! that is great that they are getting some service back up down there.! In Louisiana and Mississippi, Katrina initially knocked out 2.8 million phone lines, more than 1,600 cell phone towers and more than 420,000 cable TV connections that also can serve as Internet links, the Federal Communications Commission said. Damn! -
That would be the best way to do it.. i think you can get a copy for about 70 on the net..
-
the tracker could have gone down.. There is nothing that you can do about it..

Ok lets see here.. where to start.. Ok the first topic has to do with the download speeds.. It should be higher than dial-up.. If you are seeing 2.7kbps-5.0kbps then there is something wrong. Most servers are on faster lines these days and deliver much faster than the old 56k speeds to each person. I am not sure what you mean by an average.. if you are talking about surfing in general yes.. the average is going to be closer to 56k speeds.. cause of the burst speed. But for downloading you should be around 24Kbps.. For the next thing.. these test are more accurate than anything out there.. most of the time you are getting tested for your burst speed.. not constant speed.. which is what really matters.. it looks like you should be getting between 128k-348k. So if the cable guy says that you are getting higher.. then you might want to tweak the connection. If you got caught doing something illegal on BT I wouldnt do anything anymore.. There are things that you can do.. but that isnt the point of this site.. (we keep it legal here) A router takes your connection and turns it into a pipe that multiple users can use at one. Kinda like having a splitter on your cable tv to allow more tvs on cable. Each computer gets a unique Internal IP address and share an external IP... There is really no advantage to having a router if you are trying to hide yourself.. it is a tool that you can use to share your connection with other computers. As far as maintenance.. i would make sure that you are clear of spyware, viruses, clear out the temp folder, you can take a look at this site.. blackviper.com and do some service customization... You can get a memory manager if you leave your computer on for long periods of time.. Cause windows sucks at memory managment.. BTW welcome to the forums! if ya have any other questions let us know!

That is what they are saying.. It will work just fine.. but you might end up having to hard drive cache alot..

mp3 players safe going through x-ray machine?
Swimmer replied to ZeroOne's topic in General Discussion
Yeah i dont see a problem with that.. computer have been going though for years.. no side effects.. -
Why do we keep going though this.. we have like 3 of these in the past month.. both chips have their advantages.. if you would like to know what performs best in the application arena I would high suggest heading over to tomshardware's cpu charts.. they have just about everything on the market benchmarked.. As far as vista.. 2 gig of ram for 64bit version, 1 gig for 32bit version with the minimum being 512.. http://www.bit-tech.net/news/2005/09/07/vista_hardware_reqs Do remember that the most up todate system today is going to be old tomorrow.. just the way that the market is going..
-
Alright.. the mobo will support the processor both support FSB 800MHz Hyper Transport (1600MT/s)... As far as vista will go.. from what I have been reading you are going to want the most up todate processor you can get your hands on.. Since there are no dual core 32bit processor that I know of.. 64bit looks to be the way to go.. I dont know if HT counts..

-
my guess would be 2000/256.. but it is hard to tell.. the host's site doesnt help at all!

yeah bonding connection doesnt work like you think it does.. If you want faster internet you are going to have to tweak it.. or get FIOS..

2003 Server Ent. Edition....... Computer Management problem
Swimmer replied to cak46's topic in General Help
umm.. if you can get into to it via safe mode that would mean that there is something unclick or something in normal mode... are you an admin on this system? -
I have found that you can leave the DHCP on and not have a problem.. I am not sure why you would want to do this but.. yeah it will work..
-
umm.. depends.. most internet traffic doesnt even come close to 100mb.. so the gigabit is a little over kill.. however.. there is more bandwidth available overall... depending one what kind of switch you got could make a huge difference.. i am not sure what you were running before.. If you has a 10/100 switch that was running at 10.. then this would be huge.. however.. you would also have to have a 10baseT nic.. or have your 10/100 nic in that mode..
-
what doesnt make sense is why they would so this.. unless you have a repeater inside a building you are not going to get the wifi.. I dont see people sitting out in the park and surfing the net..
-
to me it does sound like a memory problem.. or maybe a power source problem.. might not be getting enough power to the cpu..
-
If you are using a speaker system that is amplified.. you are going to get some noise.. That is just what happens.. Unless it is so loud that you cant stand it.. or at high volumes.. there isnt all the much you can do.. Since it is happening when they are not connected to the computer.. i think you are stuck with what you got.. Even my Z-2200s hiss..

up for me.. ping is at 32ms
