How far do wireless connections pick up?
Swimmer replied to swodie's topic in Networking and Hardware
yeah i would be safe to say that you can get 75-150 ft indoors that is what it required to get the 802.11b/g rating.. assuming that you dont have any major no-nos.. If are in an open space it is possible to cover 1000 sq. ft. just depends on the application of the network.. -
I would go seperate.. I have never been a huge fan of the combo units.. there is just something about allowing one device handle 2 operations. As far as the extra money for the additional 1 mb.. i would wait.. Cable gets alot of upgrades!! Most of the time you will get 1-2 per year if you are lucky.. and the addition of FIOS the market is going to heat up to see who can provide the best service for the least amount of money..

well.. atleast we know what the problem is.. i guess there isnt really a way to know that unless you hook up a ps tester.. Which most people dont have around the house..

NVidia 6800 driver for Win XP MCE 2005
Swimmer replied to milchama's topic in Networking and Hardware
That site is good.. but posting about drivers.. is not really what that site is for.. I have a 8600, 6000 and a 9300 currently.. So you are going to get as good of help there as you would here.. Omegadrivers are where it is at right now for ati.. i would guess that the same quality drivers are produced on the Nvidia side also.. -
This will not be a new video card issue.. it is a mobilty edition.. meaning that it is going to be entire mobo replacement.. My guess is that it is driver related.. but good luck with the tech people..

NVidia 6800 driver for Win XP MCE 2005
Swimmer replied to milchama's topic in Networking and Hardware
does it look like this? what you are seeing is the offical driver number.. 74.series of drivers is just a collection of drivers.. if you notice next to the name should be the current 74. number.. If you are a gamer i would recommend omegadrivers.net's nvidia drivers.. they tend to get gamers a few more fps.. -
I think that is what he ment.. just typed the wrong thing...

if you know what you are doing.. then it is an ok choice.. it can be confusing for people who expect an interface to help them along.. it has an extremely small footprint... This is more of an enterprise app.. but can be applied if you are willing to learn it... here is a pretty good review: http://anti-virus-software-review.toptenreviews.com/eset-nod32-review.html Previous versions were bashed by some for the lact of detecting power.. i would look for more recent reviews.. 2003 or later..

ok thanks for that info.. another one to remember..

it is going to be ATX.. as far as being charged 180 bucks for a new one.. that is normal for a manufacturer.. if it break charge 3x times what it would cost to go out and buy one locally.. I had a friend who had a hard drive die in a eMachine.. he called tech support and was told that he can only use emachine hard drives in that computer.. something about having a special chip on the hard drive... they wanted 120 bucks for a replacement.. Instead i went to bestbuy.. got a 120gig drive for 50 bucks after rebates.. I then called tech support and they gave me the same lecture.. and said that it was a special chip.. at which time i asked to speak to a supervisor.. and told him that what he and his techs were telling people was wrong.. and that his is why their tech support is rated so low.. He hung up on me.. :haha:

very nice burner... most of the time other manufactures rebrand nec drives and sell them again.. http://www.cdfreaks.com/article/214 great site for these types of questions.. they do a kick ass job of reviewing.. including what media works the best with the drive.. It got a safe buy recommendation.. Be aware that it is an oem drive.. meaning that you get no software, cables, or manuals.. i believe..

The card is intergraded aka on the motherboard... Sounds like you might not have the correct drivers.. or there is something corrupt with the OS itself.. It would be helpful to know the error code that is showing up.. You might want to make sure that VPU recover is active.. that would be under display properties->setting-> advanced-> VPU recover..

Sytem cleaner or optimizer? I need a good one!
Swimmer replied to duffman1234's topic in General Help
I would agree! this is a great program.. very user friendly and does a good job -
not a problem this isnt not as hard as you think.. First you are going to need to get the correct firmware from the site.. make sure that you have to correct version! it is not uncommon for manufactures to release more than one version of a specific model.. ie. v1, v2, v3.. Once you have that you are going to need to plug in to the router via ethernet.. At this point you are going to need to pull out your manual.. You are looking for the ip address that will allow you to access the web based utility. It is most likely going to be 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.0 There should be a page that is dedicated to upgrading the firmware.. most of this you should be able to find in the manual that was provided with the router.

I got to fight with a netgear again tonight.. those things loose their minds.. For some reason it wouldnt allow clients to connect.. I didnt do the install.. so I dont know what was done as far as configuration... but when all of the setting look correct.. so instead out comes the paper clip and time for the hard reset.. 20 min later.. the system is working.. Netgear just seems to be very picky about everything.. I also hate their web based client...
