  1. If is funny because they have already prepaired for the pirating of vista.. They will not allow areo to run on those copies.
  2. There has to be a way to do this.. my guess is that like disturbed said it is going to require a script and a registry value. I thought that winrar might have something like that but it doesnt look like it. Otherwise you could build php based login page with a db backend.. and limit the user to one login.. that is more work than what really needs to be done.
  3. hahaha.. get that storage device.. and i am sure you are automatically added to the RIAA raid list..
  4. haha that is funny.. http://www.softwarepatch.com/windows/ I can only imagine the lawsuits.. The privacy people are going to freak about the fact that now MS is scanning the computer..
  5. alright.. short of calling I was able to "price" this system out.. Here is what I came up with.. Seagate NL35 147gb FC drive currently sells for $1,100 (far short of the 500 per drive and yes they do make a 500gb fc drive but it is only available through data storage manufactures..) So just for drives you are looking in the range of 3-6 million.. My guess that shipping/installation is going to be around 3-5 grand.. So.. my best guess would be that this system is some where between 8-10 million
  6. I have talked with a very reliable ISP source.. and right now everything looks fine.. nothing on the scale of a backbone fiber bundle being cut..
  7. thats a lot of storage!
  8. Found this on slashdot.. really cool!! Basically it is how a guy in Iraq set up his own ISP for a base. The video/presentation is about 50min long but very interesting. http://rss.slashdot.org/Slashdot/slashdot?m=5066
  9. Here we go.. AMD bumped the launch of AM2 from June to May 23rd.. All the mobos are ready.. so why not.. http://www.dailytech.com/article.aspx?newsid=1854
  10. there may be a registery value for that kinda of stuff.. some times just copying a file or directory will not work..
  11. I bet that would be pretty cool to watch..
  12. haha i just saw that this morning.. great article! some interesting stuff in there..
  13. Wow.. sounds like you are getting the run around from comcast.. Here is what I would try.. Connect a computer directly to the modem. Run the speed test.. If you are seeing better speed then I would reset the router, using the little black button to factory settings, and then hook it back up. Also if you just recently upgraded the firmware and now it is all messed up.. try a power cycle on the router.. if that doesnt work.. then I would reflash the router with the last stable version that you were seeing you speeds at. You should be at least in the 7500 range with the package if not above 8000.. As far as hop #9 timing out.. that is a little odd.. the router is not part of Comcast network at all it is good old ATT. So.. they are not going to be able to fix it. Here is where you are going.. 4 68.86.168.29 Florida Jacksonville 5 68.86.168.121 Florida Jacksonville 6 68.86.168.154 Florida Jacksonville 7 12.126.150.5 Florida Vero Beach 8 12.123.32.106 New Jersey Middletown 9 12.122.1.66 New Jersey Middletown 10 12.122.12.121 New Jersey Middletown 11 12.122.9.158 New Jersey Middletown 12 12.122.2.89 New Jersey Middletown 13 12.123.196.101 Oklahoma Davis 14 12.119.136.14 New Jersey Morristown 15 70.85.127.61 Texas Dallas 16 70.85.127.91 Texas Dallas 17 67.18.116.85 Texas Dallas 18 67.18.179.85 Texas Dallas
  14. amen... my vote is for the bulls..
  15. I am sure that they are running a dehumidifier or some type of commercial grade HVAC system.. I mean there are special system that are used in server/data centers all over the world that cool rooms that have more server per square foot than this lab does.. Likewise in either situtation if the HVAC system goes down the temp in the room is going to sky rocket leading to hardware failure.. Here is some stuff on data center cooling: http://www.upsite.com/TUIpages/whitepapers/tuicooling.html http://www.networkworld.com/news/2006/013006-datacenter-heat.html I like this info:
  16. AMD as been in the lead for quite some time in the desktop arena. I personally would like to see Intel take the lead for a little bit even though I am an AMD supporter. Competition drives innovation in the CPU market.. As far as the AM2 processor.. it isnt look like it is going to make a huge performance difference moving from ddr to ddr2.. tom's hardware ran a story on it a while back (using a proto processor)..http://www.tomshardware.com/2006/02/21/a_look_at_amds_socket_am2_platform/index.html So.. Intel might take it for a little while.. then AMD will fire back with their new 65mn processor later this year (Q4ish). All in all it looks good for the consumer in the long run! As neither of these companies want to be number two.
  17. you get ddr2... I dont know if it will create the potential for a new chip.. but it is worth a shot..
  18. Conroe is what Intel is calling the AMD killer for the desktop.. we will see if AMD's AM2 platform will answer back.. As far as being cooled.. everything should be air cooled from now on.. there has been a huge push to make is so that there will not be another prescott line of processors ever again. The new trend is high power, low heat.

    Auto Proxy?

http://msdn.microsoft.com/msdnmag/issues/05/08/AutomaticProxyDetection/default.aspx http://www.davidpashley.com/articles/automatic-proxy.html I think what you are looking for is more in the second one.. However, take a look at the first one.. it uses .Net 2.0..
  20. but is anyone currently filming at 1080p? I know 1080i you can get onto a dvd...
  21. anyone.. I still dont really see what is wrong with dvd..
  22. yeah.. you could get a directional antenna.. he would need to have one also so that he could transmitt back to the router.. but you would then limit who can "see" you router..
  23. It doesnt include consumers because until now it has been pretty hard to set up wep/wpa for consumers.. it required some type of computer knowledge.. Hince our buddies at geek squad.. But the industry is moving toward making it easier to set up a secure system out of the box. My guess is that it will never apply to residential consumers. Here is why.. as of right now it is a crime to connect to someones wifi and use it.. there have been many cases across the US where people were arrested. However, nothing ever happens to the owner of the system secured or not.. Why you might ask.. it is like leaving you car keys in the car.. Someone sees them and takes your car.. not your problem.. you are not going to be punished for being stupid. As far as "hacking" a wep system goes.. unless you have sufficient traffic or have dual cards running the hack it is going to take quite a long time. Sitting in the parking lot on a laptop might draw some attention.. much less your are going to be picked up by security camera just sitting there.. The FBI was able to crack a 128bit wep network in under 3 minutes.. So is it possible.. yes.. The only WPA exploit that I have heard of is brute force.. If you have something different on this please pm me..
  24. How old is the camera that you are selling? I dont think the digital camera market is developing like the computer market is or even it own market was back about 4 or 5 years ago. The sony cameras are very nice! I think the one that you currently have is the one that one of the former swimmers also has. Great images! My only question is why go with small and compact.. If you are going to drop that kind of money why not look at an SLR?
