your ISP is not going to look fondly on this one.. In fact unless it is a dedicated line anyone who "Hacks" the box could risk criminal prosecution from the ISP and you could loose your internet connection.. My suggestion get some of your computer buddies and set up a lan.. then have a war game! That is where the fun it..

I dont have any real knowledge what is out there for the LCD at this point due to the fact that I have a laptop.. but is there a modual that converts a standard LCD monitor into a TV? Like a cable hook-up device? Thanks..

possible.. Let me understand what you are trying to do first.. You want to go from a wifi connection and convert it to ethernet then put it on to the linksys router? I think with ICS, disabling the DHCP server on the Linksys router, and leaving the computer on it should work.. Let me try this tonight and I will get back to ya tomorrow.. BTW welcome to the forum! -
it normally requires the delete key, right click delete, or dragging it to the recycling bin.. I have never tried to recover anything.. as I have yet to have this problem.. I am sure that some one has tried something.. there was another thread about something simular.. deleting a file on a network share.. might want to check out that one and see what they did.

I would install a firewall! windows firewall isnt a real firewall.. if i remember correctly it only scan incoming traffic.. so anything that is already on your computer and has internet access get free reign.. like spyware..

it means that the screen is redrawn faster.. which should equate to a better picture.. Again LCD it doesnt really matter.. response time is more important that refresh rate..

depends on what codec you are using.. if you specify a decent codec then you will be ok.. but TS does default on the server to the lowest codec unless told otherwise..

Teamspeak isnt too bad.. I have ran a server a few time for the weekly gaming nights, complete flop, and doesnt require a lot of bandwidth to host a decent size server. I have had 13 on at once and my upload is at about 1.4mbps.. With tons of room to spare.. As far as setting one up.. I would have to look into that.. Bandwidth is not cheap and I am not sure how we would moderate such an area.. If there is a true intrest, more than 1 or 2 people, then I can look into it.. otherwise I would say set up your own and get a few buddies from the forum.. I am always up of a TS session of some one needs some help.

That is good to hear! that is what MS was afraid of with pushing off the original release date.. Personally I am not expecting Vista to be all that great.. Consumers are getting 1/3 of what was originally promised and about 2 years late.. Good Job Microsoft!

It really depends.. If you have a 2.4 Northwood core or a Prescott core... Prescott turned out, about, 40% more heat per cpu clock cycle than Northwood.. So heat has always been an issue on the P4 Prescotts.. Nothing to be concerned about as long as you have a good thermal compound and heatsink.. As far as internal case temp.. depending on system load the PSU can add a little bit of heat.. but most of the time hot exhaust is sucked from inside the case and then blown out the back.. Back in the day when I was using my AMD Athlon 2000+ Thoroughbred-A I was concerned about heat.. I installed some fans to get the air moving in the case. If you have a manufacture computer, like dell, then the case was made to meet the heat specs of the processor so cooling should not be that big of a deal.. however, if you are overly concerned then dropping $15 on 2 or 3 fans might not be a bad idea..

if you have time tonight.. the only thing that i can really think of off the top of my head right now is in IE tools-> internet options ->connections... everything should be blank along with the LAN setting area.. That is all that I can really think of at this moment in time.. BTW welcome to the forum!

So you can surf or not? Try firefox on the machine really quick if you get a chance.. that will eliminate IE as a possible suspect.. and the router address is 192.168.2.xxx correct?

As long as the docs are on a network drive you can get on to them.. VPN makes your computer a part of their network.. So you can set it up, the vpn, to allow users access to their shared drive. I can VPN in and get on to my share drive if i need to.. But then again I am in college.. so everything is just that much easier..

The only way, it sounds like, for your to get that stuff from that machine is if you exploit the machine.. I dont think the proxy is going to help at all for what you are trying to do.. Like php said.. VPN is the most logical way to have this set up.. you might be supprised if you were to ask the IT head if they allow students to VPN in to the network... Make sure that this post stays on topic and legal!

Massey.. right on.. after a while you can kind of figure out how much the user knows by the information that they provide in the post. However, it is always better to consider them a brand new user who know nothing about the computer until otherwise stated. One of the best parts of this site is that it isnt too difficult to get some really good help from some very knowledgeable people. Along the way others will learn the process and then be able to help out also. Most of us joined with very little computer experience.. There are some challenges in answering questions and getting stuff to work without voice/face to face contact... As many of our members have found out we DO NOT tolerate flaming for asking a question.. This provides a fair opportunity to all of our members to learn something.. If you dont understand.. Post, ask, or research..

well.. it depends.. I would first check the recycle bin to see if they are sitting in there.. otherwise I would guess that you would run the recovery on the host computer.. Another reason to set up user accounts with permissions... saves a lot of headaches!

My Verizon DSL Tested positive for HIV, Please HeLP!
Swimmer replied to dahyippur's topic in HELP! With Tests
First welcome to the forums.. interesting title on this thread.. As far as your connection.. DSL isnt the greatest.. I am going to guess that you have the 3/768 package.. However, that is if you are really close to the CO and you dont have tons of line noise.. As far as hosting.. it isnt going to be all that great from a residential line to begin with.. To many problems with P2P traffic on the DSLAM so unless Verizon is Shaping their traffic.. it is possible to be fine on minute and then you ping/lag to shoot through the roof. You could, depending on the router, Shape your network so that the Xboxes have a higher priority on the network than the computers.. That could make a slight difference.. There isnt a whole lot to optimize your connection for the xboxes.. but you can check out the Make It Faster board for how to optimize your computers. If you are really want to host games you are going to need a dedicated connection such as T1.. Something where you have 100% of the bandwidth 100% of the time.
