dvd player is dead want to use my pc on my tv

Are you talking about a broadcast point? The problem is going to be bandwidth.. Even on a 10/100 network bandwidth is easy consumed with about 5 clients.. Might want to check out this.. http://www.dlink.com/products/?sec=1&pid=438 You might be able to get them for cheap on ebay because they really have not taken off at all. -
It is going to have to be only for their products.. otherwise they are going to have major legal issues. I know I got my copy from a educational agreement.. for about $10.. when I graduate I have to call MS to get an offical licence, the little paper thingy with the serial code.. I guess is just depends on what type of program you have.

there is a reason for it.. most cases, ones bought from manufactures, dont really care about proper cooling.. SFM are the worst!! So what Intel did is create a system that would reduce the heat inside the case so that you dont toast your computer.. But yeah.. you can see the performance difference. HInce why you can get a Prescott P4 from dell in the SMF..

check the router.. icmp traffic should be allow in and there should be a setting for vpn traffic. Also look for a setting, it is isnt a production class of equipment, to allow ping from the WAN.. that should take care of the ping issues.. Next you are going to need a vpn server.. http://www.onecomputerguy.com/networking/xp_vpn_server.htm then configure his computer to log onto the network.. You might need to put the server box into the DMZ for it to work correctly..

are you using WMP when you do this? Have you tried winamp just to make sure that it isnt a software issue?

"the biggest military computer hack of all time"
Swimmer replied to ROM-DOS's topic in General Discussion
hahaha once he severs his jail sentence.. my guess is that he will make tons in the security sector.. I am sure that he is not going for 70 years, the max sentence. There is just no way... He know to much.. -
yeah i read that.. looks like another tactic to kill off linux.. my prediction.. hacker have it dual booting if it is ever released in one of the Betas.. or about 2 months after it has been on the market..

That computer, like everyone else has already pointed out, with a Nvidia 6100 128mb gpu intergrated into the motherboard. So 1024-128=896.. Just how it works..

haha yeah.. this guy just slapped everyone in the IT world that works for the US government.. Now he is afraid of going to Guantanamo Bay.. umm.. hello DONT hack then you dont have to worry about Guantanamo But either way.. the fact that he was able to get into the systems that he did, NASA, Army, Navy, DoD, Air Force, and The Pentagon's, really makes you wonder how secure these network are?! -
http://www.lostpassword.com/index.htm might want to check with them.. their suite is pretty good..

MSDN, depending on the terms, may not be a full legal copy.. Most of the time as soon as you leave that school/company the key is considered void.. Some places have a program like schools where you can inherit the licence and keep using it. As far as what the licence covers most of the time it is based off cpu.. My guess is that it is a single cpu licence..

yeah.. universal disk format aka UDF.. like rich said mount it or burn it to a dvd..

Microsoft Scanning your computer for piracy
Swimmer replied to dlewis23's topic in General Discussion
I am sure that someone will come up with a way to bypass it.. or it will be so weakly implemented on MS side that it isnt really going to matter.. As far as linux goes.. great OS for those who are willing to cold switch.. I still have yet to do it on my primary machine but I am running a server and the good old smoothwall based on red hat 8 i believe it is.. There is also the free OpenOffice suite which is gaining popularity.. due to the pricing on the Office suite.. As for pricing... Ladies and gentlemen.. It is called supply and demand. Guess what MS owns about 90% of the consumer OS market. So until someone else can break in.. it is going to say high. Even a little threat can go a long way.. look at IE and firefox. IE is getting better and finally getting the security it need for about 2 generations. I think it would be great if MS would create a general license that you could buy.. Something that would be valid for Office, XP, Vista, and all their other consumer level programs. I dont really have a problem paying for my stuff.. As long as I get what I paid for. I reformatted my machine the past weekend and had to reinstall office 2003 pro.. I guess they thought that it was time to meet me and I had to call in to get the activation code.. Pain in the butt.. 20 min on hold to get a freaking number.. The other thing to look into is partnerships. I know here i can get a copy of XP of about $15 and office for $10.. Many corprate companies have a similar agreement. Check with your IT people to see if you can get your software through your work. That is the whole point.. MS wants you to buy from manufactures! Which is why they now have deal on hardware and software from everyone on the earth. Back in the late 90's and early 2000's it was easy to get a computer with licenses for less than dell.. -
Do you have a dvi cable or are you using an adaptor? The other thing Acer recommends is to move any electronic devices away from the monitor itself. Wifi is a big no no around LCDs.. Try setting you cell phone near your monitor when you get a call. Some monitors will create a wave pattern. The other thing to check is make sure that no pins are bent. Try try those..

try new drivers.. and make sure that the cable is tight on both ends.. most of the time those cables are made to resist interference.. but that some what sounds like you are getting..

2760 drives, 500GB each, one huge storage array
Swimmer replied to dlewis23's topic in General Discussion
you cant by the 500gb fc drives anywhere.. they are manufactured for manufactures of storage system only. The biggest FC drive that you can get from seagate is 146gb. Based off that price of $1100 per drive time 2760 is $3,036,000 I figure that those 500gb drives are at least double the price of the 146gb model. -
I believe that is a setting about that folder be private.. The only way that i know of allowing you to see the folders.. is to go into user accounts... delete the passwords, then reset the password. At the end you will be prompted to either make the doc folder private or public. click no.. that should give anyone access to those folders.

Check the ip address... do the stats look like 15 sent 4 recieved? If so you might want to check the key for the encryption... some times you can get on the network with an invalid key.. but you will not receive an IP address. Making it look like you have a connection.. but you really dont. If the is address is 169.xxx.xxx.xxx then my guess is that is your problem.

Might work for a home.. but wifi just doenst make sense! 802.11g.. maybe if they re-release it with 802.11n then it would make sense.. Looks like an interesting product.
